Ravichandran Ashwin or Yasir Shah - Who is the better bowler?

This comparison is a bit unfair. Ashwin is a very intelligent cricketer and very likely the most intelligent active cricketer. Yasir is, and I have said this before, by somevmettics Pakistan's best spinner having directly impacted many tests. Folks are judging him.a bit too harshly based on his failures in the southern hemisphere.

The race for the top spinner was never between Yasir Shah & Ashwin, it was always between Aswin & Lyon. The one thing holding back Ashwin was his record in Australia - but yesterday even Shane Warne was forced to admit that ‘Lyon has many variations of one trick, Ashwin has many variations of many tricks’. Debate settled.

Ashwin. He is the more intelligent bowler and the one who quickly adapts to different conditions compared to Yasir. Also when things are going against him, Ashwin seems to have several different plans which atleast result in economical figures whereas Yasir just gets taken to the cleaners.

However cricket fans tend to deal in hyperboles. Yasir will be called ‘useless’, ‘overrated’ and several other terms but he hasn’t been as poor as this forum would like you to believe right now. In fact all things considered he has been good for the most part and a good option. The only real complaint against him is the high economy rate.

Yasir's high economy rate partly comes due to the toothless pace unit and him bowling sometime in 10th over of the test match. He does lack control, but leg spinners shouldn't be used for controlling one end from 10th over.

Most of Pakistan's win in recent years came when Yasir performed.

ignoring the fact how hilarious this thread turned out to be, it should be noted that England is the only place yasir has kind of out bowled ashwin. Yasir's performances in england are the reason he has been rated highly

Our pace bowling improvement in SENA coincides with Ashwin's rise away from home. You should always have a good pace attack to support.

Very unlucky in this test. He bowled beautifully. probably one of the few who looked like getting a wicket with deft variations. Either catch was dropped or just evaded the fielder.
Pant alone dropped 2 catches off him.

Ashwin is in a different class. His batting has gone down, but his bowling has gone up.
Would've loved to have Ashwin, the batsman propping us up like he used to do earlier. However its his bowling which we need more especially in overseas tests. Long may it stay like this!

We need Ashwin the bowler everywhere. Jadeja should be our all-rounder. Hope he continues averaging over 35 in tests and will certainly take 1-2 wickets every now and then.
