What's new

Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1 to win the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League final in Kiev

Wao we are having one hell of Finale, injuries, craziest goal and one of the all time best goals, it's worth staying up for this.

That goal from bale was top notch! Still won't reach at Ronaldo's level of perfection.

It was always gonna be hard for Liverpool after Salah's exit. Astonishing how Ramos managed to get unscathed through all this.
Sab k sab mile hue hain.

Even if RM wins the victory would be hollow and meaningless.
Liverpool were robbed off their best player by a blatant piece of cheating and yet nobody batted an eye.

They knocked the bayern players one by one in their first leg semi final. They first destroy their opposition with power.

Scumbag Madrid getting away with again. Every little decision goes their way and on top of that they can do MMA with the opponents.

That's the Madrid ddna. From coach to the players, douchebaggery runs in their bloods.

Through out the season, I had 2 fears -

1. We had a 4mn fee GK as our No. 1 in this market (when they pay 40mn/year for the logo on your shirt).

2. Our squad is bikini thin - in total 13-14 senior players and absolutely no back-up up front; even shifted Sturridge as well, he was costing 125K/week - that saved lots of wage indeed.

Klopp will get his bonus for sure - kept at 4th place for the gravy train, after a net positive year from transfermkt.

Well played Madrid, one day I wish we'll have a little more ambitious owners.

Ronaldo had a shocker tonight.

Bale, Modric and Navas were awesome.

Aray Yaar, disgusting from Ramos.

Horrible, I don't even follow football but having dislocated my shoulder end of last year, having to drop out of all sports I feel for him. Ramos is a *****.

Poor klopp can't win a championship even with a champion team. Poor Salah..

Had nothing to do with experience. Real Madrid are simply a better team and it was clear to see.

Karius is an awful keeper and should be replaced.
MMHS as always blaming FSG for Liverpool defeat. Sorry but Karius should be doing better for 2 of those goals. Its Sunday league stuff.

Klopp loses yet another final. Any other manager would be called specialist in failure by now but sir Klopp won't .

What a rotten day. First the Buttler-Bess partnership, and then the Francoist elitists win.

Oh well. I’m a Tottenham supporter, so I’ll get over it. But Abbas and Co. better get those last four out early tomorrow.

Not the best night to argue, but trust me - for a Club 8th in Forbes list on revenue, we had a 20 years old kid as the back up of EPL player of the season, and a GK, who was bought for 4mn, in a market where Pepe's back-up GK charges 170K/week.

In last 5 years, our combined net spending is 16mn - result is in total 13-14 senior players to play 60 club games & at lest 15 International, as it's a WC year. I don't blame FSG, because I know the Yank owners, just don't feel it's justice to the most passionate fans of soccer world.

You did well to get to the final but in the end the team with more quality won.

No, a team with more stock & options won. It took 2 GK howlers and Goal of the season; and a dirty trick against the EPL player of the season.

Liverpool plays pressing game, for which you need legs - couple of back up wingers and 2 power CMs, still would have won against this aging Real side. FSG/Klopp had 5 windows to fix the defense - brought VVD after selling Coutinho ......

VVD was excellent today.Your team lost because of Karius.Yes.Liverpool do need another solid midfielder. They have a top class front 3,they need another midfielder or a defender like Marcelo.

Ronaldo has hinted that maybe he will leave Real Madrid!
Big news.

So proud and happy today. Hala Madrid y Nada mas!

13 CL prizes is unique - big difference between nr 1 and nr2 (Bayern, Barca). Also happy as it means that Zidane is safe and will not be kicked out.

Same here man!
Real Madrid is just an another class.

This.

People will always hate, but none will mention the consistency and mental strength to keep getting there. Some Real players like Marcelo, Modric, Ronaldo, Ramos have been phenomenal in the last five years which should be appreciated.

Neymar joining Madrid shouldn't affect Ronaldo,he's still top class and the most famous athlete in the world.Maybe selling him would be a way to fund Neymar's transfer though.

That's not the thing. Ronaldo and Neymar both prefer to play at the left side. Ronaldo doesn't like to play as a striker as it means he doesn't get that freedom to roam in areas

Gutted for Salah.

Better team won regardless.

Also, what's with all this hypocritical you"ll never walk alone rubbish; who was consoling the goalie at the end there was that madrid players I see :yk expect nothing less, vintage scousy :yk3

Pure football fans should actually give credit where it's due, but unfortunately many people don't acknowledge Real Madrid and the players of it.

Over all team played outstanding game, even Lovren - forgot to mention 2 hits at the bar. But, the Gkeeping issue was known to be honest - for 5 years since Pepe left, we are trying to fix this with cheap options, which will never work for GK. You can hide 1/2 players among 10, but not GK.

Besides, squad is so thin that, players are super stressed - for last 2 years, Klopp is managing this squad by getting out of Cup ties by January (he played literally kids in FA Cup & ELF Cup); but in a WC year it was too much. Also, Klopp's pressing style needs hit & run forwards - if he had options, he would have changed all 3 forward line after 60 minutes and rotate Mo, Bobby & Mane; and we would have chased MCity till last game. But, that's about 150mn & 500K/Week extra expense............... imagine this squad didn't have a single back-up winger; Klopp played AOC at make shift wing, then used Moreno (Last year used Milner as LB !!!!) and today had to bring Lalana, a forward missing cut from Suthgate's famous squad!!!!! to compete with CR, Bale, Karim, Isco, Mordic, Ramos, Varane, Marcelo, Carvajal ......

What else you can expect? Klopp punched way above the weight for the unreal season of 3 forwards, something Suarez did for 3 years to keep BR at job - but efficiency has an elasticity. We faced our nemesis today.

I didn't think I could hate Sergio Ramos any more.

Well I was wrong.

I see too much hyperbole on this thread.

3-1, like I predicted, purely because RM are the better team. Yes, it didn’t help when your best player went off due to injury and Ramos is a **** for it, but it wasn’t his intention for both of them to lose balance and fall on the floor. Football is a physical sport and even thought they locked arms, injury is never intentional.

Felt sorry for Salah.

After that it was all Real. Tbh Ronaldo, Isco and even Kroos had a poor game. Marcelo has been RMs best player in the CL as he’s shown tonight. Bale scored an absolute scorcher and Karius shows more evidence why Liverpool need a GK. RM dominated after Salah injury, and I can’t remember Liverpool getting a clear chance in the 2nd half (not that Real did either).

Please don’t talk about net spend or anything a la Moh from Arsenal fan TV. Baseless argument for ‘one of the biggest clubs in the workd’.

Better team won. It was a good game.

Salah's loss was crucial yet it was Karius who handed Real the trophy. Without his two errors it would have been 1-1. After Salah our bench offered little in terms of a replacements or creativity with neither Can or the fast deteriorating Lallana offering anything constrictive. Even at their age Brucy Grob and Ray Clemence can do a better job then our two current goal keepers. Just hope we never see Karius in a Liverpool shirt again despite his crocodile tears at the end. Looking at our bench we were always gonna struggle in the event of a few injuries where as they had world beaters available to change a bad situation if required. It is the same every season, no depth in the squad once a few injuries set in. Credit to Bale for scoring a absolutely stunning goal that itself was worthy of winning the match. Could have been a classic final had it not been for two goal keeping howlers and Salah's injury.

Worrying thing for Liverpool fans is this is Klopp's third loss in a big final. I am beginning to wonder if he is gonna be a nearly man more then an achiever.

Salah going off changed the game in a way it should not have IMO. Heads dropped and Madrid were having a second wind after that sub. karius is..lol. I dont even have anything to say. In a game of this magnitude he has made such comical errors to gift the 3rd one in a row to Madrid.

Liverpool didn't deserve to be in the finals in the first place. Dubious referring with disallowed goals and offside goals of their own against City. Kind draw in semis against Roma. Bet they would have been shut out in first leg itself against Bayern. Mediocre team put in their place. Will never win anything. Or maybe 'next year '

Playboy has lost speed considerably, which was exposed against a team managed by Klopp. But, still he is the ultimate scorer with both legs & head and his position sense is probably best since Van Basten. A lot of time, it looks like tap-in, but people don't realize how good CR is with his position sense, quick acceleration to beat the last line and his timing to reach at hitting spot.

He was so good from wings that no one is realizing CR, even at 35 can be an outstanding No. 9. I don't see any issues with Naymer or even Neymar & Bale/Mo - the guy who'll be in trouble is Karim. In a 4-2-3-1 formation, Zizu can play Neymar & Acensio at flanks and CR as spearhead with Bale/Dybala just behind at No. 10. Mordic (For 1 year max, he is 32 now) & Casimero/Kross forms the base of double pivot.

Marcelo, Carvajal at WB, Varane & a new CB, preferably a strong power CB like Kulibaly or Niclus Sule (Ramos should be kicked out to bench now), and Allison at GK - Real might win 4 of the next 5 CL as well!!!!!

What did I say ? The team with more quality won.

Yes Liverpool pressed a lot and didn't have depth. May Klopp should have taken a different approach instead of playing high intensity with no depth on bench.

You think it would be a good idea to compete with that Real team playing ball around? Even without Mo, it took 3 unique incidents, very rare in a soccer game, to win it for Real.

No problem with pressing but it could have been more controlled with no depth on bench. But then again Klopp rock and roll is what got him to the final . So why change ?

My friends, let me know what time your train arrives at Liverpool; am already here and ready for this parade :yk

Im super happy with the result, not with the way it happened though. Sad to see Karius' mistakes, and Salah + Carvajal injuries. Bale's goal was insane, just as good as Mandzukic's goal last year.

Zidane has played Ronaldo at 9 several times this season and he was not comfortable there with all the CB's targetting him not allowing him to roam free. At times he did score but most of the times it was others who benefited and we all know that Ronaldo is not happy when he does not score.

Ronaldo is an exceptional player and with those qualities he still can be of value to this Real side. But dropping Ramos? No way brother that is never happening. King Ramos is the heart of this Real side. After Pepe he has taken it to himself to tighten the defense and he has been phenomenal this year. Without King Ramos we had serious issues against Juve which almost led to a historic comeback for the Old Dame.

Yes, Modric is getting old but we still have Kovacic who has done well in the absence of Kroos/Modric. We do need extra back up for Ramos but El Rey Ramos will never be replaced till he chooses to retire himself.

Pogba might be swapped with Bale, for that No. 8 role - frightening prospect, if ZZ can unleash him. I have lots of respect for Mou, but he is a serial player killer - several quality players had to leave (or thrown out by JM) and then they proved Mou wrong, while KDB, Mata & Salah were not good enough for his bench - loaned, later sold them!!!!!!

Pogba needs to leave MU this summer, and I am sure Hazard would have by 2017 .... Hazard still can move, at 27, he has best 3/4 years left for No. 10.

CR's biggest problem is his ego, otherwise playing centre forward won't be any issue - in last EURO, he was basically playing as lone CF for Portugal. But, he knows, Zidane isn't Carlo, Mou or Rafa - might be different this time, also getting old.
