Before the series started and after our first innings we saw a lot of threads on this forum relating to the Aussie way of mentally wearing down our players but this lot of Pakistani players have completed tilted that phrase on the Aussies.

1. Starc unable to stand there and say anything to our batsmen.
2. Hazlewood can't throw a tantrum anymore and stare down at us.
3. Lyon kicking the turf with Smith having 0 confidence in him
4. Warner, out of all people dropping a catch in fact he couldn't even get a hand on it.
5. Khawaja, twice, couldn't pick the ball up in the slips.

This determined lot of Pakistani players have been able to reverse this concept of the mighty Aussie mental disintegration back on them. How? By doing the complete opposite of what the Australians do, by putting their head down and batting long and wearing the opposition down. It just illustrates that it isn't necessary to fight fire with fire. When the series started, I doubt any of us thought this would be the case. :azhar2

Still 1-0 down.

Would be useful if something comes out of last 2 tests.

It will have to be in the last Test now given that rain is predicted over the next couple of days so a draw is a lot more likely

they still have to bat, so all the celebration might be premature, but wow, i havent seen pakistan obliterate an opposition like this since i can remember - priceless!

When the weather is not helpful, it helps to have sessions like these, because it demoralizes the opposition

The extra five or ten overs won't make the difference. We will either win or we won't

Oh i am not asking for any declaration at the moment.

At 500 i would reconsider ( depending on the pace they take to get there).

I am just saying all these victories (mentally, physically) taste sweeter when you actually end up at least winning or drawing the series.

So much depends on weather at Sydney now.

I think if people cannot appreciate the output of this tour compared to what has happened in the past to much stronger teams, then I think there's an issue.

Totally agree, think people need to watch video's of previous tours to put into perspective how well we've played thus far. It's not our fault the weather has taken over, it's not in our hands and in the 1st Test we came close; prior to this series many predicted emphatic annihilation of Pakistan and it's strange that now when they've displayed some fight it has not received much credit because we've not got the win in our column, typical pakistani fans.

Devil's advocate my friend.

Those past teams also had to face ATG australian team so the comparison would be useless.

Actually it depends.

A drawn series would be epic and it would eclipse anything we have done so far.

But Sydney loss or draw would just be the opposite.

If people can find solace in just the fact we competed or won some sessions while losing the series, the standards for them are not high in the first place.

I know but I just feel like by fielding and fielding for hours isn't easy to come up and hold a bat. Its not just this test but the Brisbane test too. It won't be easy coming out to bat. That's why I want Pakistan to bat another 30minutes and put them in straight off the field as opposed to after having a 40 min lunch break.

If the rain stays away, I think Pakistan should win this test. It is possible to bowl an opposition out on the 5th day, especially when only one team can win. Australia will have to bat without any intent of winning anything. Its a lose - lose situation.

dont know whether we can win, but agree with you, i just want to see more of this, if i can, its been so awesome to see - and although the tail can be out any ball with this slogging, id love to see azhar get a double.

hope theres no declaration.

Well allegedly, those earlier teams from the 90;s had some serious world beaters, so that levels that out.

And yeah about Sydney, there was plenty of trip ad nauseum before this match about how the players are getting carried away the performance at the Gabba...

We wont get carried away.

Whether we can win this one or at Sydney is another story entirely.

This is why I am not in favor of these threads after a good batting performance.

There are 11 players who play professionally for Australia and they are too professional to be bothered by something as 450 runs.

Infact, it seems Pakistan were run ragged by Warner, as Australia amassed 300 in nearly two sessions.

Mental disintegration doesn't happen over the course of one innings.

Not for professionals anyways.

Bump.

Another example of real mental disintegration which was prematurely celebrated by the OP for Australia.

If Eng vs Ind series confirms anything you can come back in a test even after opposition piled up huge amount of runs which is what happened here. All Australia had to do was put them in a situation where they will show their nerves.
