Real talented fast-bowlers in Pakistan domestic cricket

Mohammad Irfan
Mohammad Zahid
Ghulam Mudassar
Ehtisham Sultan

There are other good prospects but these four by far have the most potential.

We have lost our way in determining what a quality pacer is like when they are ready to make their debut.

Criteria:

- Up to 23 years old. No older.

- 5'10+. Ideally 6'2+

- Fast sprinter

- 12% body fat. No more.

- Smooth orthodox bowling action and no cross seam rubbish habit.

- Can bowl yorkers.

- Has FC average of below 22.

- Personality traits - selfish, arrogant, perfectionist, ladies man.

Also:

- Can bowl 142kph +

- At the very minimum either swing in or swing out.

So tell me anyone in domestics who fits all this criteria? :amir3

I doubt we have four bowlers waiting in the wings who all bowl 140+ and have penetration and menace.
Never wise to generalize. Just because there are many bog ordinary green track trundlers does not mean actual fast bowlers with potential have disappeared. Most of our selectors are idiots who're incapable of identifying players with actual ability. In the 90s and early 2000s, we were lucky because there was genuine talent pouring out. Any seamer selected was a lively one because of sheer competition. There aren't as many as before but it doesn't mean they've all disappeared.

He's listed as Medium but that's incorrect. I've seen videos of him at eye level and he's comfortably fast medium. Ellipsism can confirm. He's watched him live.

Needs pace unless he swings the ball a lot?

Only bowlers like Philander and Asif can thrive in international cricket with low pace.

Generally bowlers need to be in the 140s to stand a chance.

Can he move the ball?

Other posters here are right, majority pacers in domestics are trundlers.

We need a tear away...like Wasim, Waqar, Akhtar, Sami, Amir...hell even Asif will do...but a bit more up there than Wahab.
And, also a spinner to rival Saqlain and Ajmal.
Any out there?
One of each will do...cos we have decent class in Amir, Wahab and Junaid.
Rest I'm afraid with the exception of Hassan Ali are either not up to scratch or untried.

He's lively enough and swings the ball away. Extracts a lot of lift because of his height and action.

We will see. Inzi did select Ghulam and Etisham for A-tours.

Don't give false hope to people
I've watched Ehtisham and Irfan live and I can assure you they are international material.

Ehtisham is a tall quick who from the naked eye looks around 137-140 kph with the effort delivery over 140 kph. Generates good bounce and can swing the ball. He's accurate and clever a bit like Amir in the sense that he has the capability to pick up upon a players weakness and look to exploit it.

Mohammad Irfan is 6'5 generates steep bounce and is as quick or a tad quicker than Sultan. Can swing the ball as well. Sydney Thunder admitted they would have signed him if not for the squad already being confirmed. Nick Cummins (general manager of Sydney Thunder) when asked whom he was most impressed with from the Lahore Qalandars development squad said Irfan and Rabbani.

Ehtisham hasn't played for the A team.

Yes I was confused with Aaqib's statement that Ehtisham is ready for international cricket, so I thought he was in the A-team. Turns out that was for the LQ tour to Sydney.

In any case I don't believe the hype, if mediocre trundlers can do well in domestics then so can "international class pacers".

The real international class that we produced in recent times (Asif and Amir) ripped through domestics in their first couple of seasons.

Because any old player had the capability to walk into Sydney Thunder, heck they denied the most overrated player to walk the face of the planet; Amir.

He hasn't played domestic yet. He's only been noticed recently.

What about Mohammad Abbas?
If number of wickets is not the perimeter of selection than what is??
He was top wicket taker in two consequetive QeA. His performance in recent Departmental Odi is good as well.
He is under 30. Whats left?

I see many ppl criticize him in favor of Sadaf or Tabish.
I AM INTERESTED TO KNOW THEIR OPINION AS I HAVE NOT SEEN HIM LIVE UNFORTUNATELY.

18 months ago it was Younis Khan who gave him a break in domestic Cricket as a Captain for Abbotabad when he also roped in Fakhar Zaman.

Ehtisham bowled 1 over and got hammered for 19 runs. Did not bowl again in that match and neither played again.

Probably he gave up Cricket than and started focusding on his studies. I guess he is stident at Hazara or Malakand University. Than he made comeback to cricket when he gave trials for Lahore Qalandars. Otherwise he wss gone.

None - no one has the fundamental of fast bowling - grip, using new ball, bowling close to the stick without stepping in danger zone, working out batsman. They are basically bowlers who runs & go through a motion that results a cricket ball flies at 130+KM.

It was always the same - from Krdar, Khan Md. to Aquib - none would have been half the bowler without Counties. Sohaib, Gul & Asif were lucky that they had Woolmer & Waquar to guide them; otherwise won't have gone much further than Zahid, Sami or Fazle Akbar.

Good area

I donot know mucj about pak domestic bowlers but my picks will be

1 Sehzad Azam rana

2 Mir hamaza

3 sadaaf hussien

4 m abbas( top the table charts for two years proves that he has something)

5 bilawal bhatti
6 atiff jabar is alos good

Ehsab adil is second word for uselesss

Now that the U19 journey is over Nasir Ali needs to tell some questions.

Why did he select Crap so called spinners (3 of them) ? ?

Why wasn't Islamabad pacer and Shaoor selected for U-19 World Cup ? ?
