It seems to me this is a recent trend, but if this has already been posted then mods please merge.
I am referring to various sports where the players are supplicating with their hands palm up to receive blessings from God as Muslims have done forever, and which was always associated with the Islamic rituals in my eyes.
Recently we are seeing this increasingly with Christian sportsmen from footballers to boxers. Is this something they admire in Muslims and have adapted for their own faith, or is there some historical reference for it?
