Prithvi Shaw, aged 14, has bagged a deal with a leading cricket equipment which has been endorsed by the likes of Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag in the past.

Mumbai's 14-year-old sensational batsman Prithvi Shaw, who set a batting record by smashed 546 runs in an Under-16 Harris Shield game in 2013, has bagged a lucrative deal with a top cricket equipment manufacturers.

According to Times of India, Prithvi has earned a deal worth Rs 36 lakh with SG, who have been endorsed by stalwarts like Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag in the past.

The youngster, who comes from a modest household in Mumbai, will receive this sponsorship over a six-year period which could ease his financial tensions and help him focus solely on his game.

Wow that's a huge deal for a 14 year old kid :irfan

I guess he has to be sent to Meerut to know whether he can play or not but i think he would be decent Mumbai has a very good cricket structure and they wouldn't hype just anyone.

I was just kidding. He must be pretty good. Hope he can make it to the top level.

It's become a money game and nothing else.

Stupidity will never fail in this age.

To put this into perspective this amounts to about £6000/$10000 a year which will probably just about cover his equipment and transport costs. It's hardly excessive. The parents of this boy obviously cannot afford such things so someone has to pay for it.

I think this amounts to £36000/$60000 at exchange rates of 100/60 for £/$ respectively.

85 4's :srt

He hit more 4's in that innings than most of us have in our lives :))

what will he do with that many chocolates.

Seriously though, i fear he will get spoiled like most of the bollywood child stars who see money and stardom at early age.

Great gesture by SG :14:

Hope this will help him be focused on his game without being worried about bills and all.

Great help from SG.Other subcontinent countries have things to learn from this

Crazy. Unmukt Chand got carried away (when he looked destined for a great India career) partly due to all the early success, fame, sponsorships etc.

I hope Prithvi has some sane advisors around him who will help him keep focussed and make full of all the talent he has in going onto have a successful India career.

But can he play swing? :kohli

You can never say how it turns out, but hes already started preparing for it!
He played in Manchester for 3 months and also played for the Gloucestershire 2nd XI. This year, he played in the Yorkshire league. Hopefully, all that'll stand him in better stead. :P
