Now what do you think? Giles Clarke said the hosting of the PSL2 final in Lahore convinced him and the ICC to send its players.

But around the time of the final, everyone criticized the PCB for hosting the final in Lahore without many star players from the Quetta side and seemingly thought of it as a waste/diluting the tournament.

Did Shahrayar Khan and Najam Sethi know what they were doing all along?

There was a lot of appreciation as well, far more than any criticism that was done, especially outside PP.

Majority of PP was cynical about security, etc, though. Glad they have been silenced now.

Part of the credit does go to Shary uncle and Sethi as well

It was only Imran Khan who criticized it publicly though few weeks before that he said that entire PSL should be in Pakistan

Firebreaker His comments are ignorable considering he isn't involved in cricket anymore, rather politics.

everyone was behind it when it was first announced. But then there were two big bomb blasts whilst the tournament was going on. Its understandable why people became apprehensive. Especially after what happened to the Lanka players a lot of people felt a repeat occurence could happen.

Whether Sethi and Shahryar knew what they were doing is debatable. Sethi was more driven by his own singlemindedness and desire to be known as the guy who brought cricket back to Pakistan.

even they knew it was a gamble but it was one that paid off.

As I said before sethi and shahryar are the best things that happened to pakistan cricket, arm chair critics like imran khan can only sit on the sidelines and lecture about talent, he wouldn't have been able to accomplish half the things sethi accomplished in his tenure.

I never liked the fact that Quetta who had played so well were robbed off alot of their main players.

But it was good to have final there though wicket was shambolic

Have a look at world x11. Not many have been convinced to play in Pakistan. Sammy, Elliot and few more were never averse to be at Pakistan.

I am not just talking about world XI, sethi organized PSL while his predecessors could only talk about organising psl but were never able to deliver. He brought in a foreign coach, we all know if some other administration was in power then some pak ex cricketer would have been freeloading as a coach. He also brought cricket back in pakistan, albeit on a very small scale. Ex crickters like Imran khan can't hope to deliver half as much as sethi, they can only sit on the chair and criticize while their fan girls cheer for them every time imran drops the word tailunt :yk

True. Even if Sethi and Shahryar are loud mouths they have done some good for Pakistan. Imran might just be all talks no work.

Elliot was averse to playing in Pakistan

Collingwood, Tim Paine, Cutting and quite a few wouldnt have ever come

Same for Saffers like Morkel and captain Du Plessis

It was a rubbish final in terms of quality of cricket. That part of the criticism was and still is justified.

imran khan was partially correct at that time bcoz of security threats but now it is being played with full security backup

There was always full security since Zimbo series.

Sometimes you need to look beyond politics for the betterment for our cricket. Imran Khan doesn't care about our cricket, all he cares is how he can get into power. Good for him but lets not take his judgement as holy grail.

Would a close fight final between two closely contested teams be worth the possibly and likelihood of there being no World XI tour? Seems like a trade off

imran khan was burning because it made sethi look good and his views obviously rubbed onto his fans

people in general were very supportive and that is why it was a success

i wish to see imran become pm but he needs to mature as a person
