Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to restrict players under contracts in terms of their participation in the international leagues, media reports said on Thursday.

According to details, the condition of ‘two leagues per year’ came under discussion during a meeting which was chaired by PCB chairman Najam Sethi and attended by Haroon Rasheed, Mudassar Nazar, Shakil Sheikh, Subhan Ahmed and Naila Bhatti and others.

The senior officials of the cricket board discussed various proposals for drafting new rules pertaining to players’ participation in domestic and foreign leagues.

Media reports claimed PCB may restrict players under contracts to play not more than two leagues annually, with the inclusion of Pakistan Super League (PSL).

A final report on the recommendations will be submitted to the PCB chairman in the next few days for formal approval.

It was agreed in the meeting that domestic cricket structure will remain unchanged, but an increment in fees for regional players was approved.

It was also agreed that the national selection committee will have a greater say in the selection of regional teams for domestic tournaments.

The meeting discussed that local leagues with media and commercial rights would be regulated to meet certain conditions regarding anti-corruption measures, selection of players’ sponsors and fee payment.

Will one of those be the famed T10 league for which PCB is paid $400k?

So two leagues including the PSL. That means only one non pakistani league.

If other countries follow the same it will be an issue.

If other countries follow the same rule then only ipl/bbl/ecb t20 tournament rejects will come to PSL

Lol what do you even watch Psl or just don.t want to miss the opporunity to bilittle PSL.PSl oversease pool is dominated by retire player with top player from bd ,w.i and few current top of eng,Sa only play when they are available .Psl is mostly dominated by local talent where pakistan fans eager to watch upcoming talent from pak.it wont effect pakistan if the other follow the same route

Also this might by tricky situation for the some of the pak senior player where they will have to decide upon the single league to play in bpl ,cpl and netwest
Hopefully few will annouce the retirement like sohail tanvir, malik etc to play in the all league

Good move, no need for players to go to any low class leagues. This will ensure that they only play PSL + BBL, CPL, or T20 Blast. The lowest they may go is BPL, but most our good players get CPL contracts anyway.

If other boards go the same way the the top BD Eng players who most likely will get a IPL or BBL contract wont play PSL.

Only non contracted WI players will play.

If pakistanis only want to see local talent, then what was wrong in Faysal Bank T20?

Did PCb have named specific league to be not played in ?it is players choice to whether they want to play in bpl,cpl or netwest though they have to choose only one and they will choice which pays them most
Pcb will restrict the contracted players partcipation of the player which is fair enough as there are dozen leagues and the players have to be looked after before 2019 worldcup which is good idea.
I will take none contracted player of w.i like pollard, bravo, sammy, simmons etc then the most of current one of wi
Least number of pakistan players play in netwest so i don.t think ecb will even bother to think about rejecting noc of eng top player.Same with bcb they don.t pay too much to pressurize the player to not asked for noc

If pcb restricts players other boards will follow suit. Thats only natural.

Even IPL teams may ask some players who they pay big bucks to restrict league appearances before IPL.

Once you put restrictions, others will follow. Rather its better to pay players more so that they themselves dont go to many leagues

Good move on PCB's part. We need to protect our league and especially our player's health.

For those saying ( only indians actually) that other countries might follow suit; they are deluded as usual.

Other countries dont have such a strong league alternative e.g BPL, SLPL (now defunct)
Some countries dont even have a proper league e.g Saffers, Kiwis, Zimboks etc.
Windies players are mercenaries, their board cannot control them.
Indian players are already not allowed to play.

Pakistan has other issues! We have huge injury problems.

Did I say anything about local talent. I said if all countries restricted their players to two leagues every players first choice will be there own league and the second choice will be IPL. I they don't get IPL contract they will go to BBL English leagues before coming to PSL

Good. It's not necessary for our players to play in every T20 league. This is how injuries happen. Would much rather our players were playing international cricket than T20 leagues.

PCB should compensate players for missing out on earnings.

Should be 2 leagues plus PSL

Agreed, PCB must compensate players who get offers to play in T-20 leagues but are not permitted to go

BCCI doesn't let contracted Indian players play any leagues other than IPL.

PCB is taking the much more lenient approach.

Pak cant afford to let their star players become t20 mercenaries.

Yes the players deserve to make a good living, but national duty is also important.

If they get their stardom playing for Pakistan, and all of these global t20 leagues want to pay them large amounts of money due to the stardom they got playing for Pakistan, they have prioritize or atleast balance playing for the national team.

Players that are not contracted by PCB are free to play in whichever league they see fit.

Should be 2 leagues plus PSL

If that is the case - then these Mickey Mouse leagues should also compensate the PCB for lost time whilst the player is away plus cover the medical expenses of the player if he gets injured.

I believe that is already the case with all these leagues. The home board gets a cut of each player's compensation.
