Rohit was pulled out as captain from Mumbai Indians and he didn't underperform in last IPL and he played his part which is normal, and similarly Pandya was asked to play under Rohit immediately after IPL for the recent WC T20. In fact, Pandya was one of the heroes in the last WC. He didn't sabotage the game. You cannot show your humiliation in the game, you can rather show it on your management and selectors, but not on sabotaging the chances of the nation winning the matches. If Shaheen has done it deliberately and if it is proved, he should be punished.
 
Guys these are not movie characters don't paint them in such a negative light.

Neither Shaheen or Babar should ever be made captain or vice captain ever again.

its very funny you know . these guys come from very humble background. specially Shaheen who lived in poverty in KPK region. and when these guys get fame and money , they are not mentally equipped to handle it. 90% of these players are mental midgets.

Where's the proof that Shaheen deliberately underperformed? Records say that he recirved 4 player of the match awards in the 6 matches win by Pak since Babar's reappointment as the captain. This is just a diversionary tactic being used to defend Babar and generate sympathy for him.

To be perfectly honest I don’t think that the current situation has got anything to do with the player’s background. You back stab a highly intellectual rich individual from an educated background, they may also act erratically. Many people can stand injustice.

point is not backstabbing. point is these guys cant handle the fame and money when their fortunes turn around. lot of it has to do with mental strength and upbringing. look at Pandya.. he also came from humble background but when fortune turned around for him , he was mentally equipped to deal with it despite facing similar problems of backstabbing and all

Agree. However, I have to say that Shaheen should be professional and give his 100% in the match and deal with the politics off the field. After all these players all the time claim they can do anything for Pakistan all the time, not just when convenient for them.

This is not to say he was deliberately underperforming as I have no proof or anything. I am just saying in general.

SSA always pretends to be the softie against opposition players and turns into over-energised rude guy towards his own team mates during matches, the art he has learned from his father in law.

Yeah they are not kids.

The played Pakistan during the 90s. They know what Pakistan cricket is all about. South Africa have had plenty of administration issues themselves throughout the decades. They haven’t suddenly turned up to something they didn’t know is part and parcel of Pakistan.

PCB is trying to make SSA a scapegoat. However, we all know that PCB, Babar, and SSA are equally responsible for this debacle. PCB should not have made Babar the captain and should have let SSA lead the team in the WC. But they took it from SSA and gave it to Babar (who also should not have accepted it; in doing so, he backstabbed SSA). During the WC, SSA backstabbed Babar by conspiring against him and forming factions.

Gaurenteed spot in the XI? Which XIs? If he plays in T20 for example, where does he bat according to you and where does he bat according to himself?

They came in knowing well the mess that was in. But they still came despite their reputation. The package must be very intriguing that they (specially Kirsten) willingly put his reputation up.
 
Warne & gilchrist couldn’t stand each other but when they were on the field you couldn’t tell that.

Gilly never deliberately under performed.. can’t say that about warne as he was a convicted match fixer.
 
By no other board will you find your rare premium fast bowler being insulted and ridiculed like this.

SSA deserves better. Son in law of The Sahid Afridi deserves better than this.

The PZ franchise owner wanted his franchise captain to lead the Pakistan team for business purposes. He lobbied and met PCB officials during the PSL for Babar's return as captain. Wahab Riaz, the former PZ captain who was associated with PZ before he got the government gig, was the chief selector. Only 2 out of 7 votes from the selectors resulted in Babar being crowned again.

Babar also wanted PCB to announce Shan Masood's sacking immediately. However, due to no upcoming test series, PCB decided to wait for the right time before the next series to announce that decision. Shan was about to receive the same treatment Shaheen did, he led brilliantly against Australia but faced a whitewash, like all the teams and captains before him.

Batting coach Mohammad Yousuf pointed out that Afridi was bowling too many no-balls, to which the left-arm pacer curtly responded, "Let me practice for now and don’t talk in the middle." This exchange led to a heated confrontation between the two.

Following the incident, Afridi was reprimanded by the team management and subsequently apologized to Yousuf in front of the entire team. The matter was dismissed after the apology.

Shaheen Shah Afridi may not be considered for the upcoming home Test series against Bangladesh next month. Furthermore, two to three senior cricketers might also be rested.

I don’t blame Afridi for this . clearly he supported his heart out for Babar during 4 years and when it was time for Babar to show support he back stabbed him . afridi is a human after all not a robot .

In my initial post I said Babar Azam should be sacked, so let’s lay that out in the open.
We witnessed Shaheen Shah Afridi bowling full-tosses after full tosses and half volleys on the pitches where a bowler should be bowling the back of length deliveries. There are so many reports coming out against him which can’t be ignored. There is no smoke without fire.
There are 11 players in the team, all of them are playing for Pakistan, and if someone deliberately underperformed because he didn't like the captain, then that person should face the consequences.

Our cricket has been pathetic in that time. All 3 have failed.

There may well be some of it, but let’s not pretend that is some reason for loss. We are an abysmal team led by an abysmal captain and strategy encompassed by his BFF “senior” partner. Our “leading bowler” has been outshone by everyone including scatter gun Rauf and past his best Amir.

All three should be removed NOW on cricketing terms alone.

How can you say Shaheen backstabbed Babar? Babar is one of the worst captain accross format and he was rightly removed, he is getting free ride since years without any accountability. Babar should have been stripped from captaincy years ago but his lobby is extremely strong that's why he is not leaving captaincy despite pathetic record as captain

PCB decided that shaheen was not yet upto mark and so close to wc they would rathar have an experienced captain. They asked babar to accept the captaincy again and he did. The captaincy could have gone to rizwan if babar had not accepted.

These players should focus on their performance instead of captaincy.
 
Pakistani players' mentality needs to change , on the ground they are extremely timid against the opposition and the animosity is amongst the team mates.

How can PCB conclude after one series that Shaheen's captaincy wasn't up to the mark ? He should've been given the T20 World Cup and then his position could've been reviewed.

Instead they reinstated Babar whose captaincy was awful for 5 years, and created unnecessary turmoil right before a major tournament.

Shaheen was prematurely rushed back from injury for the 2022 T20 WC where he helped us reach the Final (only to reinjure himself) - all for sake of saving Babar's skin. And what loyalty did Babar show in return to his teammate ?

Just like Salim Malik turned out to be a decent captain in the mid 90s as he had good working relationships with both Waqar and Wasim.

Perfectly said - whenever there’s infighting we get the examples of wasim, Waqar, salim malik. Sometimes we get the examples of Shoaib Akhtar, Inzamam, sometimes we get Miandad groupings.

Compare those names to Shaheen, Rizwan, Babar and even before that sometimes it was Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Akmals.

I mean do the idiots in the second paragraph deserve any concessions - they’re not legends like the ones in the first paragraph where you may want to tolerate it cos of their ability. Everyone in the second paragraph. If there’s any hint of infighting with their mediocre ability and performances, if I was in charge, I’d chuck them all out! They’re not good enough to start threatening their non compliance, withdrawal from the team etc

Yousaf has more class in his foreskin than Shaheen or his father in law have in their whole family. It was Afridi that did oathgate he is the actual backstabber
 
People on here are saying Shaheen is unprofessional and classless, and I'd agree with them if Shaheen wasn't dealing with the PCB. Professional Cricketing Boards wouldn't treat one of their best players over the last 4 years like the PCB has. If the PCB is going to treat him unprofessionally, it's only understandable that he feels disrespected and his dignity questioned.
 
SSA does not merit a spot in the team on the basis of his last 12 month's performance, needs to be sent back to domestic cricket to work on his basics. We are only fooling ourselves if we believe that he is captaincy material at the moment.

SSA, Babar Azam, Rizwan, Shadab, Iftikhar, Haris Rauf, Azam Khan all need to be dropped from the team, in all formats. We need to get rid of the toxicity for a while..

I already said in a post above that PCB created a poisonous environment but should Babar be blamed for that , can we say that conclusively that babar had a role to play in shaheen shahs removal as the captain. PCB has been known to do stupid things and thats what they did. Najam sethi wasn't there to take care of things.

But the players play for their country , and instead of keeping grudge over captaincy they should be looking to win as a team.

Babar Azam is a backstabber and true politician. Doing everything to keep hold of the power of Captaincy.

Why PCB is meeting convicted fixer like Salman Butt for revamp in Pakistan cricket? Why 80 plus gentlemen like Intikhab Alam & Shafqat Rana are involved now? There are many other nobodies involved in this meeting, they should not be treated seriously.

PCB must maintain high working standards with strong code of conduct & ethics

It looks like a cold war has been going on between Babar's PR agents and Shaheen's PR agents for the last two years, and now it has reached its peak, with Shaheen being made a scapegoat for all the World Cup and previous series performances while Babar enjoys the fruits of remaining the white-ball format captain for Pakistan. This reminds me of the same cold war that existed between Nawaz Sharif and the establishment when Imran Khan was the PM of Pakistan.
 
We will never become one nation or one team. Always keep on pulling legs of others to come in power rather than putting real efforts where it is required. Its same in all departments of our country.
You cannot become one nation by just singing dil dil pakistan or pakistaaan zindaaabaad in a stadium.

Or the other side can also be true, SSA is just an over hyped average bowler.
