What's new

[REPORT]Williamson, Seifert, Ferguson, Neesham, Boult, Milne, Jamieson & Santner to miss tour of Pak

I'm gonna take the high road and says it's fine. Not gonna moan like BCCI have done with KPL.

I don’t see NZ winning a game with Williamson, Boult and Jamieson in the team in Pakistan, might aswell be sending their second XI players for much needed experience.

Expect Misbah and Waqar to get an extension based on whacking another SENA team in home conditions

Pakistan should introduce some new players in the playing xi such as Abdullah shafique,Wasim Jnr.

I agree. Nz (without Williamson, Boult and co) are still a very strong LOI team. I am sure it will be a close contest. Pak should win the series and carry that momentum into T20 world cup. I, for one, am looking forward to the series.

As an administrator, this is still a big win for PCB and NZ. You got a SENA country to visit you that you need desperately to gain more validity as a hosting nation. NZ gets to send their non-IPL participating players to play test matches - gain moola and experience for up and coming players. It's all a win / win for the sport and the administration.

I think Pakistan has to pick their full-strength squad given it's so close to the T20 World Cup.

Time for experimentation has now pretty much run out.

I believe the WC 15 man squad and 5 reserves needs to be submitted by mid September so it probably wouldn’t even make a difference if we experimented with new players as they wouldn’t be able to go to the WC anyways. We’re pretty much stuck with what we have right now apart from 2-3 new players who could get picked like Malik or Wahab.

Although this has to do with the fact that New Zealand cricket is captained by a mercenary like Williamson, Pakistan should understand that as long as we remain a talentless, mediocre team, most teams would end up resting their key players against us.

Pakistan will struggle against New Zealand reserves just like they got whooped by English reserves last month.

It doesn't matter. Smith is sitting at home watching his team get humiliated to Bangladesh of all. That is bigger embarrassment than Williamson who is just giving chances to youngsters for a meaningless T20 series Vs Pakistan. T20 is the format where you give chances to youngsters.

Also, you are completely wrong on de Villiers point too here as de Villiers never skipped any international game for South Africa and went to playing IPL match at the same time. He played 96 tests continuously for South Africa without taking a break, that tells us that it was more about the time and stage of your life than anything else. He was also taking a break like Smith when South African international matches were happening. He took the decision of retirement after which you are allowed to play whatever cricket you want.

Retirement is a decision which is completely a personal point of view. Fans should not hold any grudges for the same and also you can play IPL alongwith international game too. So, this suggestion that de Villiers was a sell-out and retired for IPL is an absolutely hypocrite and baseless argument. There is no point playing the game when you are not up for it mentally and it was a decision that needs to be appreciated.

Of course it matters and I cannot believe I’ve to explain this.

Skipping a series because you don’t feel like playing for whatever reason and want to spend time with your family is completely different to skipping a series to play in another tournament.

Smith did not prioritize another series over the one Australia is playing right now; he is simply not playing at the moment.

On the other hand, Williamson is going to prioritize the IPL over a New Zealand series, and he is the captain.

He is mentally and physically fit to play cricket, but he is giving preference to IPL money over leading his country.

He is a shameless mercenary and his fans don’t know how to defend him. It is a very awkward situation for him because they usually won’t shut up about how great his personality is and what a gentleman he is.

Completely agree.

Disappointing stuff from Williamson being the captain of the team.

If this does happen, it's a fantastic opportunity for PCT to try out a couple of other/new players and nail in the XI before the World Cup.

Could be a massive blessing in disguise if PAK's management choose to go that route.
