Reserve players Can play Warm Up games in the ICC World Cup 2023

Just so you guys know, Mathew Short, a reserve for the Australian team, played in todays warm up game.

Now, will Pakistan throw Harris, Abrar and Zaman in, or will they not know about this regulation?

I was not aware of this, i would want to give Abrar Ahmed a go, if an injury occurs during world cup which is highly possible he might end up coming into the sqaud. If their is a chance to test reserves i am all for it

dont think so. Australia took a reserve and infact, Australia will send their reserves back due to domestic season. So if needed they will call them up. THis is such a very good move, and pakistan with its domestic cricket going on should also have done the same.

It takes what 30 mins to travel by air from lahore, or the most 8 hours via UAE?

Reserve players can play warm-ups but CANNOT play in the main matches.
So what really would we achieve by making them play against Australia in the 2nd warm-up match?
As now they can't be drafted into the 15 unless there is an injury

Short played as Australia have selected 14 players with Travis Head out for atleast the next 3-4 weeks. If he can't recover even by then, then Short will be drafted in his place.

Guys, i am still not sure, becasue everywhere on the net it says you cant play anyone outside the 15 squad. But here Australia did so.

Did the match referee not notice maybe?

I think the match referee missed it. It's most probably Australia who didn't know about the regulations.

Yeah in the warm-ups reserves CAN play. But why would any team play them?

Australia did as they are not sure about Trevis Head.

Pakistan would be the only team who would want to play reserves in Warm Up because the 15 players selected suck.

If I was pakistan I'd be asking rizwan to have our players practise those fake Injury drama skills.

We didn’t experiment with Abrar beforehand and that’s our own fault.

Throwing him into one warm up game now wouldn’t achieve anything.

Essentially we made our bed, now we should lie in it rather than forcing further indecision.
