I think it's fair to say that Rohit/Dhawan and Kohli has reached a stage where they can be compared to the legends..

Who do you think are the best top 3 in history of ODI cricket?

At this point, I will put Rohit behind Tendulkar only among the great ODI openers of the game. Kohli of course is the greatest, so my top three would be:

Tendulkar
Rohit
Kohli

This top three beats Gilchrist, Hayden and Ponting by a whisker.

Sachin and Gambhir rarely opened if i am right. Gambhir was pushed to 3 whenever Sachin and Sehwag were available.

I would still go for Hayden-Gil-Ponting because they used to tear the opposition apart in big games.
