Watching Rohit Sharma caplain his IPL side makes me feel that there is something about his leadership that has transformed an ordinary looking side into a world beating unit.
While Kohli is doing a good job with the test side and the test side looks to be a settled unit, the Indian ODI / T20 team looks unsettled and need a strong leader if they need to win major tournament / series. Kohli like many mentioned in this forum looks short of ideas when the going gets tough and given that Rohit is almost certain to be part of the Champions Trophy, why not have him as the captain in shorter versions.
The Mumbai Indians side looks very thin on paper and hardly a world beating unit but Rohit seemed to have done wonders. Also the fact that Rohit has not yet performed with the bat makes this more unbelievable. The way he defended 140 odd against a stronger DD side and chased 200+ against KXI Punjab speaks volumes about his leadership.
I know thereally would be posters who would feel that IPL should not be a benchmark for evaluating performance at international level, but if you weigh Rohit and Kohli at the common denominator which is the IPL, Rohit is head and shoulders above Kohli in terms of leadership attributes and something the Indian think tank should leverage in the shorter formats.
