Talk about being thrown in the deep end. Hardly any practice on this tour, hardly any cricket for a while and thrown into the lions den against Anderson, Broad, Woakes and co.
The Pakistani way.......
I can already tell he looks afraid to come forward or go back. Seems very ensure of his movements atm.
He is a bundle of nerves at the moment, but who wouldn't be in his situation.

The next big deal?
Shehzadians praying that he gets out soon. Hes looked solid so far along with Azhar.
Looks a lot more compact than I last saw him. That front leg isn't coming across as much now. Good to see him improve.
The way Hafeez is going, there will be plenty of space for Shehzad too.
Looks like a player who has limited strokeplay on this type if surface but gutsy and determined.
He's not your flashy type of batsman, who will play shots all around the park, but he looks like a reliable and solid batsman who will not give his wicket away.

You cannot say that... He's playing a true test innings, at at time when he's playing for his place and trying to get his team into a great position in this match.
Where did I say he's not playing a proper Test innings or a poor innings?
You're assuming his stroke play is limited when In fact you cannot judge that from his innings today.

I'm pleasantly surprised, Sami has proved a lot today. Still though in the future I wouldn't want young players to be thrown in like this
Played well but, there was no run there, plus why oh why did he have to run so wide?
Fielder standing straightish.
Well put. He has outshone all the Pakistani openers that have played in England in recent times since Saeed Anwar.. quite an achievement!!I guess this sort of tactic can work one of two ways. Either the youngster sinks and is 'damaged' goods or he swims and becomes a great find.

Sami has problems against the short ball which Australia will exploit if it is not rectified.
Cook is similar to Misbah, he doesn't really know how to set fields square of the wicket to exploit short ball weaknesses which many Pakistani players have.
