Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shehryar Afridi asserted on Saturday that he did not personally incarcerate Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah during his tenure as the narcotics control minister in 2019.
Afridi made these remarks while addressing the media after appearing in a district and sessions court in Islamabad, where he was handed over to the police on a two-day physical remand.
Shehryar Afridi attended the court hearing presided over by Judge Naveed Khan for a case related to his alleged involvement in the May 9 riots. During the proceedings, the investigating officer requested a five-day physical remand for Afridi, citing the need to conduct photometric and voice matching tests. Judicial Magistrate Naveed Khan granted permission for Afridi to meet his family in the courtroom before being remanded to police custody for two days.
Upon reaching the rostrum, Shehryar Afridi became emotional and stated, "My brother passed away, and I was not allowed to participate in the funeral. Protesting is my constitutional right. I did not take the law into my own hands."
After the hearing, Afridi addressed the media, clarifying his stance. He emphasized, "Let me make it clear that I did not put Rana Sanaullah in jail. A major general, who was the head of ANF, arrested him based on intelligence reports. They had everything against Rana Sanaullah."
This guy is an absolute liar. So I have no sympathy for him. He was solely responsible for the fake case against Rana Sanaullah. He got others involved in it, but ultimately he was the mastermind.
