Quotes from Inzamam-ul-Haq

"What we have seen in this [Ireland, England] series is that our youngsters have potential"

"If we put our trust in them [youngsters] and give them opportunities then in one or two years a good picture will emerge for our team, as the young players would change into world-class players"

"Sometimes when the pressure is on, it so happens that you cannot perform at the level [you are expected to]"

"With Azhar, he was the highest scorer in last season so we have full trust and faith in him"

"Same applies for Asad Shafiq as in previous season he scored close to 900 runs"

"There is a lot of pressure on the captain as he cannot focus on his own individual performances"

"Although I feel that based on his calibre, Sarfaraz should have performed better and will do so [in future]"

Sarfraz needs to perform better,to make sure he isn’t a specialist captain. He has been a passenger for last 2-3 series. At least he improved his wicket keeping on the England tour.

Inzamam all praise for Pakistan’s young squad touring UK

LAHORE: Pakistan cricket chief selector Inzamamul Haq has said that Pakistan’s young team, currently on their United Kingdom tour, have potential to become a world-class group of players. Brushing off criticism over sending a young and inexperienced team for the UK tour, the former test captain told media on Friday that he was satisfied with the team selection. On Asad Shafiq and Azhar Ali’s recent performance in the Test series against England, Inzamam said the team definitely felt Misbahul Haq and Younus Khan’s absence but he was hopeful that the two can bounce back from their disappointing run and get back on top.

Praising captain Sarfraz Ahmed, Inzamam said the way he had led the team was admirable. “It is normal that captain comes under pressure in the game sometimes, which affects his performance, he added. The selector admitted, however, that Sarfraz’s own performance can be improved because he had the potential to do so. Talking about his nephew Imamul Haq, Inzamam said that he thinks of Imam as a player and not his relative. He added that the entire team’s performance was his concern, not only that of Imam. He further said that Imam had shown temperament since his debut, which would be beneficial for the opener and help him in the long run. Pakistan will next play two T20Is against Scotland on June 12 and 13 in Edinburgh.

Sure after one or two years, Pakistan will start winning properly! When will a Pakistani selector prioritize winning NOW!!!?

They are much improved side compared to misbah's era.

lol, in what way? Maybe they have the potential to be but the batting is pretty mediocre at this point to be a legitimate threat.

And they were recently just beaten by Sri Lanka at UAE which Misbah made us invincible in. Maybe have this team win a few series at home first before proclaiming such an absurd statement.

his batting has gone
we also played a batsman short
inzi the genius must have thought azhar & shafiq were some atg batsman

Sarfraz needs to leave captaincy in tests.

Captaincy in three formats, plus wicket keeper in three formats is too much.

He did not score any runs at all. I have no issue with his keeping standards. Just keep the Akmal's away.

That might be an idea as he will be knackered by this time next year for the World Cup. But who replaces him as test captain and a wicketkeeper who can keep well and score runs in test matches?

Asad as test captain? But he crumbles in pressure situations.

Mohammed Amir to be test captain... I know he doesnt wanna play too many test but making him captain will change his view.
I cant see any other option at all. Asad shafiq looks nervous at times.
Or may be wait till Babar is ready for the position

Amir should first perform consistently to merit the captaincy spot.

Anyways he has indicated he won’t be olaying a lot of tests so no point in making him captain.

Replace him with any competent keeper. Rizwan maybe. Not the best batsmen but surely he will perform better with the bat than sarfraz has been doing lately. As long as his keeping is as good or better.

I think Azhar should be given captaincy.

I know that was tried already, but he was also given captaincy for ODIs which he shouldnt have even been in the team.

I think if hes given captaincy for tests only, it might be different this time.
