...How is this even possible?

Totally transformed. To an unbelievable level! :sree

Looks like Misbah is being SUPER strict, with Sarfraz in particular.

He has already warned Sarfraz that only individual performance can keep one in the team, one has to bat, score and perform to be able to ultimately captain.

This transformation seems like an additional benefit! He wasn't this fit even when he debuted!

Or maybe Sarfaraz has finally seen the light?

Lol the fans boys. So in 2 weeks he's lost around 10kg because of misbah lol.

Someone needs to tell him those tracksuit bottoms are for fat Sarfraz! Look how baggey they are!

Sarfraz is for sure looking fit for once.

So message is loud and clear. Anything good that happens with the team/squad will be all due to Misbah the saviour, while any loses or misfortunes will be due to everyone else and specially Sarfaraz?

Hope it's not a case of the slim-fit shirt being replaced by a relaxed-fit shirt :P

Says a lot about our players that they can’t motivate themselves to get in to the best shape possible for a tournament as big as the World Cup but the moment their place comes under scrutiny they wake up. These lot take playing for Pakistan for granted.

There is an urdu saying - Der aaye magar durust aaye. Why criticize someone if they have taken the right step?

not sure if sarfraz fits in the XI on his batting performance.... top4 shld be settled with exception of Fakhar maybe.... sarfraz at no5 isnt the best fit .. but lets see...

More like too little too late. This WC was his golden chance, prime opportunity. He won’t be around in 2023 with the likes of Rizwan and Rohail coming up.

Because he may not learn. If he has a good series here and cements his place he may just become complacent and get fat again.

I think the PCB needs to invest in the mental health of players and to provide them with comfort during stress and pressure. Mickey Arthur has confirmed that Sarfaraz takes out his stress relief on comfy foods.

So what? Isn’t good enough to be playing anyway. Will be fully exposed in the months to come. Don’t want to see any sole blame for Misbah in any future defeats. As he is just settling into his role. A lot of pressure on Sarfaraz now.

Hasn't Sarfraz done this before? The issue would often be that he would relapse into an unfit state after temporarily becoming fit. Keen to see if he breaks the trend this time around.

everything good that happens in Pakistan cricket is because of Misbah .. even CT17 was Misbah, he has the ability to win past matches

Should have been booted, don't understand this Pakistani policy of flogging a dead horse.

Yeah somehow Misbah was able to deflate Sarfraz in under 10 weeks with the magic wand he’s been carrying....

Obviously it can’t be anything else like... Sarfraz working on his fitness post WC? Hopefully this wand can reduce Umar Akmal’s weight as well.

Has nothing to do with Misbah

He lost weight before Misbah was appointed after people made fun of him in the WC

You don't lose that much weight in 2 weeks, this has nothing to do with Misbah, he must have started this a couple of months back.

Sarfaraz is an adult, he gets all the credit for getting in shape just like how he was rightfully blamed for being unfit. We gotta start respectin people, especially cricketers as adults. He's responsible for his success and failures.

He is getting in shape for an important series, did not consider world cup to be worthy of putting effort to be fit.

Uh.. more like the world cup debacle was a wake up call for him. Many professional athletes use their failures to motivate to get better, whether it's in terms of fitness or skillset. You should look the world cup as the end of a season/cycle of cricket and the beginning of a new cycle.

Mickey mentioned in a recent podcast that Sarfraz's weight goes up and down frequently. So don't be surprised if he gains/loses again, that's just how his metabolism probably is. Also, he doesn't exactly follow the Kohli fitness philosophy to stay physically fit for a sustained period of time.

It looked photoshopped that much transformation he has brought about.Just look at the head and the body

Was about to say this .

Pretty disheartening to see mentality of our players

I love Misbah for making our captain slimmer. He looks perfect in this picture. Thank you Misbah for making us proud.

His neck looks small and his arms look small....the guy looks starved haha

Rizwan has almost come and gone. Sarfraz had ridden Rizwan storm so far.

Sarfaraz is just afraid of losing his place and wants to have something positive circulated about him rather than the usual negative.Shameful that if he always had the ability and passion to do it why did he neglect it for so long.

Stress can do many things - you can either gain wait or lose wait! In Sarfraz case he lost wait thinking about his captaincy which was in danger.

i think the disgusting abuse he received when he was out with his family may have played a factor in him actually making an effort to lose weight. Regardless of what it is lets stop with the negativity, the past is the past lets see how we play moving forward.

What has this got to do with Misbah already?

What's Misbah got to do with it. I don't care anyway. He's lost weight. Fair play. Doesn't matter if it's cos of Misbah forcing him to or him doing it of his own accord

Sarfraz has lost some belly fat.. need to improve his shots... he is a leg side heck at the min for fast bowlers...... still think he is the best batsmen in current team against spinners.....

Mickey Arthur should really feel aggrieved right now. Why could Sarfaraz not get into this kind of shape under his coaching?

Who needs a fitness coach when we have Misbah. Works wonders in 2 weeks. :misbah

I heard another saying on a different Pakistani forum, the second line of which is:

To ghairat lagi batney

He is now vaguely looking like a international cricketer

you think losing weight will make him a better player?

yes you are right; I know you would agree that Sarfraz should actually should not be in the team on merit

Why didn't he lose weight for the biggest tournament in cricket?

Why was he so unfit for the World Cup?

I guess we all know the answer - his place in the team wasn't under threat at the time.

So....lose weight and improve fitness only when your place is under threat.

Hopefully that isn't a triple XL shirt firstly :)) but beyond that now that he is in the team it is good that he is in shape and hopefully his performances will improve / have a positive effect on the captaincy to, let bygones be bygones; if he messes up then all the Korma Biryani jokes shall make a comeback :yk2

Sarfraz has shown that he never lacked the fitness to lose weight, only the motivation.

And that motivation was clearly not for the interest of Pakistan or its cricket team, otherwise he would have gotten into shape before the WC.

Worst captain to lead Pakistan.

LMAO at people judging Sarfi for losing weight . You gain wait you in trouble , you work hard to lose it , you still get criticized. Can't win with them haters in the building ...

It’s not about him losing.

It’s about the fact that he decided to do so only after his place was under threat and the WC (the biggest priority in cricket).

This is a basic requirement in cricket and all international sports and he’s the captain for crying out loud!

Lets be for real unless his loss of weight improves his cricket there is no reason to get excited. How are we sure this weight loss will make him score more runs. I feel like people here are focusing too much on his looks department and not his actual performance.

Weight loss helps with becoming more agile and greater cardiovascular endurance, which can be used for running between the wickets, improving his lethargic wicket keeping, and overall energy on the field as captain.

Judging his fitness is not judging his look but his commitment and something that is directly proportional to his outcomes (performances) on the field.

Tbh the weight loss now shows his selfishness as he should have done this before.

Sure it does but it also depends on the player who has it. Its one thing to be more agile, and have greater cardiovascular endurance another to actually perform on the cricket field. Right now he has yet to walk on the cricket field and we are already celebrating his weight loss as if he won the series by showing improved results. What excuse will there be if he gets out with good starts?

There will be no excuse but the fact that he is simply not good enough anymore.

Ponting states that he was at his best physical condition prior to the start of the home series against SA in 2012 but couldn’t buy a run.

He knew his time was simply up.

In my opinion Sarfraz will have to do a lot of scoring to win back the hearts of Pakistan fans. He needs to score and wicketkeep for a good period of time. I myself was his big supporter, now even I want results. This weight loss is not enough to excite me yet. What he does with it is what matters from now on.

I`ll be impressed if Sarfaraz averages higher than 35 this series, also considering this is a B team. Then we can call this a real transformation.

Scored 8 so far in this series. Apparently got run out. So much for good fitness.
