What's new

Sarfraz Ahmed takes over captaincy - Exciting times ahead, they said

One loss and it's as if the world has come an end

Yes Sarfraz panicked yesterday, but he'll learn from this.

Absolutely disgusting if true.

Any player who can't respect the captain, regardless of who the captain is, should be reprimanded.

Hope Kamran gets dropped immediately for this sort of insolent behavior. No wonder everyone hates his guts. Is there a video for this?

Lol tbh I'm not really sure if he was just frustrated in general or directing it at Sarf. The way Sarf was behaving I imagine every player would've been cursing him though from the inside. (captains don't do that)

If you find the highlights look at over 45 ball 2. Sarf wasn't looking at him so maybe it was not directed at him. :srini

I know its very very early, and here's hoping Sarfraz can improve

but 1.5 games into his ODI captaincy I am very disappointed. I really thought he would take the bull by the horns and have an immediate impact

-he had 2 fantastic series as a batsmen vs Eng and WI batting in the top 5, and he's already gone away from that
-not dealing with this Hafeez issue, rather in fact promoting him back to no. 3

I like that fact that he's dropped Wahab after the first ODI, and Babar is back at no. 3. Those are definitely encouraging signs and here's hoping he can continue to make more positive changes in the next few months

If Sarfraz does not want to bat at #4 when he is captain, then kick him out of the team.

Is it the right time to bump this garbage thread?

Not attacking enough. Should have brought in Hassan Ali right now for a change and tried to get rid of their tail with Shadab bowling on the other end.

Also looks like someone who likes keeping seniors happy.

Hasan is on now. :sarf

It's not just about winning. What's concerning is that Kamran, Hafeez & Shehzad have sealed their spots for CT17. Sarfaraz is not brave enough. Besides this is a very weak WI side that we should be thrashing.

It is true that it is not just about winning. But how is it just about Kamran? Would it have counted in Sarfraz's favor is Kammy's or Hafeez's selection proved unmitigated disasters?

He needs to find himself a role in the team where he contributes more as a batsman. He is batting too low at the moment, and is unable to stamp his authority on the match. It is never good for a captain to be at the periphery. As long as he doesn't bat in the top 5, he will not amount to anything with the bat.

Pak nation will not forgive him for reviving Mohammad Hafeez and Kamran Akmal's ODI career.

I think they were selected by Inzi and pretty much were bound to play except Hafeez maybe.

But Akmal was on a high due to his PSL exploits, So I don't think Sarfraz had a role to play here.

However I do believe that as a captain you should not be letting off seniors or non performing players.

They are better off with sort of line up they played in Last ODI against England Last Year.

Both Malik and Sarfraz are dominant players of spin and have low ball percentage hence must be utilized accordingly with a defined role.

If Sarfraz can play at #6 then Hafeez should have no problems batting over there, This was a point Mohammad Wasim mentioned at post match analysis that since management is trying to have Hafeez as a utility cricketer then he should be batting at #6 or #7 while delivering with the ball in hand. However I think Hafeez should be dropped for good.

He could have been brave and select Fakhar Zaman instead of Kami as opener in the playing 11.

He easily could have keep Babar Azam at #3 in 1st ODI.

Yes I agree removing Babar from #3 was a mistake.

I'm equally frustrated with Hafeez in the team.

But first question mark should be over to Inzamam for selecting likes of Junaid, Hafeez and Akmal.

Thing against Akmal is that he has a poor former record not has age on his side, Hence a mere stop gap so you can argue about short term approach but I think this situation has been caused by Sharjeel scenario. As they say desperate measures for desperate times.

Just got back from the humiliation.

So...what has changed??

Just got back from the humiliation.

So...what has changed??

all his bad decisions in West Indies are coming back to humiliate him.

In West Indies tour if Sarfraz had played Fakhar Zaman as an opener (the position where he bats in domestic and performed admirably to be selected in the national squad) then Fakhar could be the opener today instead of Ahmed Shehzad.

Mohammad Hafeez was on last leg and Sarfraz could have easily not play him in any ODIs In West Indies tour and nobody would have complain but Sarfraz selected him and give him the #3 spot taking it away from Babar Azam and look now where Pakistan is

Thank you Sarfraz

The addition of Fakhar was the game changer

Yes exciting times these are....misbah fans can get lost now..their jealousy was always visible... :))

Its 2 years too late...thank you misbah and waqar.
