if on average we get 42 overs in a day, then we will get 220 overs across the 5 days which should be enough to force a result on this minefield of a track

It was hilarious to see Rizwan smiling throughout his innings, cracking jokes with the West Indian fielders, and then suddenly turning it on, effortlessly hitting boundaries as if he were playing in his backyard.

After Rizwan’s mamoth Test innings thus far, on par with Lara’s 153 in Bridgetown, time for all his haters to log out of PP.

Eid Mubarak to all Rizwan fans in advance :yk3

1st innings is crucial atleast get to 300 and take a 100 run lead and then score 220ish and bowl them out under 200, easier said than done but that's the likeliest way

Pathetic batting effort from Pakistan as usual. Pretty much the two batsmen in now and agha will have to some how salvage some respectability here

Mohammad Rizwan, while addressing the press conference after Day 1 of the first Test against the West Indies:

The challenging pitch conditions:

"The way Pakistan cricket is progressing, we must accept that the pitches might not always be as easy. Batting averages may drop as the conditions are difficult, with the ball swinging, turning, and sometimes going up and down. We have to face these tough conditions as a nation, and InshaAllah, with time, our cricket will improve. The pitch was difficult, and it was clear that if a spinner is bowling from the start, there is something in the pitch for spinners."

His partnership with Saud Shakeel:

"The way Saud and I built the partnership, we played according to the conditions. Sometimes, you get loose balls which help build a partnership, and InshaAllah, we were able to make it work."

Weather impact and game delay:

"My personal opinion is that if the weather had been fine and the match had been played for the full 90 overs, then this pitch wouldn't have lasted more than three days. The conditions we faced were tough, and we had to face them ourselves. However, the weather is beyond our control. Let's see how things unfold."

Missing Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah:

"Every player has a chance to make an impact, and players like Shaheen and Naseem will always be missed. But every player has an opportunity to step up and deliver in different conditions. We've created a system where we work together, and everyone is prepared for challenges like these."

Potential challenges ahead:

"We need to play cricket that is in line with our strengths, and the conditions we are facing are difficult for the batters. We need to develop and adapt, and players like Saud, who has been playing in Karachi, can show how to handle such spin conditions. We need to learn from these conditions, and InshaAllah, we will improve."

Pakistan's approach to the Test series:

"We need to play the kind of cricket that prepares us for success, not just at home but also away. South Africa gave us a tough challenge, and we need to adjust to different conditions. We should be ready to face fast bowlers in challenging conditions, and as a team, we need to learn and adapt to every situation."

Setting targets on difficult pitches:

"It's tough to set a target on such a pitch. It's not like you can have a target in mind and easily achieve it. Sometimes, even scoring 35, 40, or 50 runs becomes difficult. This pitch makes it hard to set a defined target, and you have to take it one step at a time."

Pakistan's approach to difficult conditions and batting:

"We need to adjust to the conditions we have. Even though it may be difficult to score runs, we will use the skills that Allah has blessed us with to contribute to the team. InshaAllah, we will give our best effort."

Like I said it will take for him to get the standards of future captain asif ali. He will get there don’t worry.
What does Asif Ali have to do with that review?

Reaching a bit?

Desperate?

Struggling to differentiate between formats again?

Rizwan, Saud hit half-centuries on shortened opening day

Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel helped Pakistan finish the opening day of the first Test on a strong note as the duo hit fighting half-centuries after a delayed start to the game here at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Friday. Pakistan were 143-4 in 41.3 overs when stumps were drawn.

Rizwan and Saud came together when Pakistan were reeling at 46-4 following early blows. They guided Pakistan to stumps unscathed with an unbeaten 97-run stand for the fifth wicket facing 169 balls.

Saud hit four boundaries during his 100-ball 56 not out after walking in to bat at 31-3 in the 10th over, registering his ninth Test fifty. Rizwan hit seven boundaries to bring up his 11th Test half-century and finished 51 not out off 80 balls at close of play.

Earlier in the day, bad weather delayed the start of play as the toss took place after the scheduled lunch interval.

Mohammad Huraira, who became Pakistan’s Test cap 258, opened the batting alongside skipper Shan Masood and fell for a 15-ball six to Jayden Seales in the sixth over. Two overs later, Shan was caught behind down the leg-side against left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie.

Seales pinned Kamran Ghulam leg-before in the 10th over as the decision was upheld after the review. Babar Azam was Seales’ third prey of the day after he was caught behind with debutant Tevin Imlach taking his third catch of the day.

Scores in brief (Day 1 of 5)

1st Test – Pakistan vs West Indies at the Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan

Toss: Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first

Pakistan 143-4, 41.3 overs (Saud Shakeel 56 not out, Mohammad Rizwan 51 not out; Jayden Seales 3-21, Gudakesh Motie 1-45)

How are you my brother? Kaptaana leading the way as usual. @Rana @mominsaigol @YousafTheBeast will not like it as always. Rizwan is really a pocket dynamite, arguably Pakistan's greatest asset post 2000.

I don’t have a problem with Rizwan in Tests, never did and probably never will.

I have a problem with Rizwan the T20 champ that is still riding on the 2021 innings vs India.

Rizwan isn’t an asset for Pakistan, he’s an asset for the opposition just like Babar. If I was the opposition captain, I’d make sure my team rubbed lurpak butter on their hands when these two come out to bat.

Watch what Nasser Hussain and likes said about Rizbar in T20. Arguably the 2 biggest game breakers in T20I as a partnership. See how many times they chased 200 together.

The Jaydon Seales show

Wow. Looks like Kamran got a brute that seamed in viciously. Bobsy , on the other hand, got out to a stock standard Test delivery

Jayden Seales in post Day 1 presser shared following thoughts:

"We need to continue bowling the good balls,"

"As spinners or as fast bowlers, there's always something in the pitch for us. It's a matter of just bowling our good balls for as long as possible."

"I think 250-odd is probably a good score on this pitch."

Not a big deal. Even the best in the game Kohli been getting out to the same stock standard 6th stump line every game for 5 years.

Bobsy was our top scorer in last series. He's good by our standards

Whether Pakistan can win or not will depend how Pakistan spinners can bowl , I do not think too many overs will be available . pakistan need to get 20 wickets to win.

Kohli hasn't been the best in the game for a good 5 years now and that's if he ever was better than Smith even back then .

Bobsy at his peak is getting exposed brutally and has been even worse than Virat over the last 2 years.

It's definitely a concern.

Babar played only 9-10 during that period.

Getting exposed brutally still top scored in last series. he's the least of our problems and I am happy he's being kept honest.

Only if Indian fans analysed the dismissals of their own players so closely instead they are treated as infallible gods

Yes scored 1 run more than Shan Masood. Has Babar really dropped to this level now?

You’ve made several posts praising Babar for scoring the most runs, so I checked, it was just 1 run more than Shan Masood. To be fair it gave me a good chuckle 🤣🤣

One of saud and rizwan have to make a big hundred here. Take pakistan beyond 300 and u have a win in ur pocket
