Is Sean Williams the most underrated player of current times? He is one of the top scorer in this WC right now and almost scored a century today but missed it due to horrible decision. It is not like he has performed only against Associates. He performed in every match of his country. In my opinion I think he is a bit unlucky to be born in Zimbabwe. If he was born in any TOP 8 side,He would have been world class by now.

He's an absolutely brilliant player of spin. He's in good form but I think he'd be a decent middle bat for any team outside of India,Australia or South Africa. Would make it into any team other than those.

I've rated him for a while now, seriously good player.

zimbo greats are all undertead Flower brothers Heath streak where top players

Haven't followed him that much but from what I've seen he looks like a very good all round player.

He's a good player. Use to play Hockey hence you see him playing sweeps.

Williams is pretty good, him being a lefty also adds to Zimbabwe's batting. He is an attacking batsmen and always has confidence to play his shots (unlike Pak batsmen). His bowling can also be good for Zimbabwe. Willaims picked up a couple wickets against the Ireland game and he was decent against us too. The two rippers to Afridi and Akmal came out of no where lol.

I'm also impressed by Taylor, their keeper. He plays proper cricketing shots and his strike rate was very impressive yesterday. Both Taylor and Williams played really good under the situation and its quite sad they lost by only a couple of runs.

AFTER missing the two-match Test series against Pakistan last month, Zimbabwe Test cricket captain Sean Williams is eager to play his part in the longer version against Bangladesh.

Williams sat out the two Tests against Pakistan at Harare Sports Club because of a soft tissue injury to his left hand.

Former skipper Brendan Taylor captained the side in the two Tests in which the Chevrons performed badly in two matches, which they lost by an innings.

As Zimbabwe prepare to face Bangladesh, Williams resumed training at Old Hararians and says he is no longer in pain.

“My hand is a lot better and I have no pain, which is great. Friday was my first day back at training with some of the national team guys.

We had all been doing running sessions two weeks prior to meeting,” Williams said.

It was tough sitting out the two tests for the left-hander, considering that it was a home series, and his team performed well below par.

He has now boldly declared that they aim to redeem themselves against Bangladesh by registering a win.

“For me sitting out the Test series against Pakistan at home was tough. We want to win against Bangladesh and it’s that simple,” he said.

All national team players not involved in Zimbabwe A’s two-match four-day series against South Africa A are training with the senior side at Old Hararians.

Bangladesh are expected to jet into Zimbabwe on June 29 for a tour consisting of all three formats of the game, which include two Tests, three one-day internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals.

Although Zimbabwe Cricket and the Bangladesh Cricket Board are yet to release the official tour fixtures, the Tests have reportedly been reduced to one, with the T20Is set to be increased to four.

Zimbabwe Test captain Sean Williams has reportedly decided to quit playing international cricket after the conclusion of their ongoing tour of Ireland. Williams has apprise the team management of his intention.

As per a report a media report, the 34-year-old has cited multiple reasons behind his decision including biobubble fatigue, uncertain future and unhappiness at the way which cricket in Zimbabwe is progressing.

Williams had already requested national selectors for a mental health break and not consider him for the five T20Is in Ireland and T20Is in Scotland but will be available for the three ODIs that follow the T20Is against Ireland.

He didn’t travel with the rest of the Zimbabwe squad to Ireland and only arrived six days later on Wednesday.

Williams made his international debut in 2005 and has since represented Zimbabwe in 14 Tests, 136 ODIs and 47 T20Is. He has scored a combined 5,937 runs across formats including eight centuries and 41 half-centuries so far.

He has taken 125 wickets in his international career as well.

His performances with the bat have improved since taking charge as Zimbabwe Test skipper having scored three of his four centuries as the captain.

Craig Ervine will lead the Zimbabwe squad for their limited-overs matches in Ireland and Scotland. He’s the fifth man to lead them since the beginning of 2020 following Chamu Chibhabha, Brendan Taylor, Sikandar Raza and Sean Williams.

Zimbabwe full squad: Brendan Taylor, Ryan Burl, Regis Chakabva, Tendai Chatara, Craig Ervine (captain), Luke Jongwe, Tinashe Kamunhukamwe, Wessly Madhevere, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Wellington Masakadza, Tarisai Musakanda, Blessing Muzarabani, Dion Myers, Richard Ngarava, Sikandar Raza, Milton Shumba, Donald Tiripano, Sean Williams

Zimbabwe batter found guilty of breaching ICC Code of Conduct

Sean Williams has received an official reprimand for an incident during his side’s second ODI against Pakistan at Queen’s Park Oval, Bulawayo.

Williams was deemed guilty of having violated Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, specifically breaching Article 2.8, which relates to “showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during an International Match.”

The incident took place in the 26th over of Zimbabwe’s innings against Pakistan when Williams expressed dissent after being adjudged LBW to Saim Ayub by pointing to his bat. Williams scored 31 with the bat in the first innings, as Zimbabwe got 145.

The hosts eventually lost the game as Pakistan chased down the target with 10 wickets to spare. The three-game series stands tied at 1-1.

In addition to the reprimand, one demerit point has been added to Williams' disciplinary record, marking his first offence within a 24-month period.

On-field umpires Michael Gough and Forster Mutizwa, along with third umpire Iknow Chabi and fourth umpire Langton Rusere, leveled the charge.

Williams admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Andy Pycroft of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, eliminating the need for a formal hearing.

Level 1 breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50% of a player’s match fee, along with one or two demerit points.

Fifth Test century for Sean Williams, as he remains unbeaten on 145* off 161 balls on Day 1 of the 1st Test against Afghanistan.
