Senator Yaqoob Khan thinks "Poor are born to serve the Rich" [Appointed as PML-N’s acting president]

ISLAMABAD: Controversial comments by PML-N Senator Sardar Mohammad Yaqoob Khan Nasar during a meeting of the Senate Functional Committee on Devolution on Thursday, when he said the poor are born to serve the rich, triggered a strong reaction and arguments from members of the meeting.

Soon after the meeting started, which was presided by Mir Kabeer Ahmed Mohammad Sahi, members objected to the absence of the in-charge minister of Cabinet Division, Sheikh Aftab, and his secretary, and that they had not attended the last meeting as well. When he was called, he said he was busy in a meeting with the prime minister.

In the meantime, PPP Senator Taj Haider started a conversation about how the country has become the property of the ruling elite, and that all decisions were made in the interests of the rich.

“We have sent hundreds of thousands of Pakistanis abroad to work as labour and send foreign exchange; [apparently] in the national interest and claimed that soon it will be proved that offshore companies were also made in the national interest. The poor of this country will never get to decide their own fates,” Senator Haider said.

To this, Senator Nasar remarked that if everyone were to become wealthy, there will be no one to grow wheat or to work as labour.

“This is a system created by God, and He has made some people rich and others poor and we should not interfere in this system,” he said.

The PML-N senators’ remark triggered a strong reaction, with Senator Haider saying that socio-economic classes were man-made phenomena with which God had nothing to do with.

Senator Mohammad Usman Khan Kakar also said that God created all people equal and that the poor were not meant to serve the rich.

However, Senator Nasar could not be convinced and said that “once in China all people were considered equal, which did not work out well”.

“Those who cannot get an education and cannot earn more have no right to live the life of a bureaucrat,” he said.

The chairman of the committee then gave the example of the US, where he said the country’s president shops in the same store as ordinary citizens and that the presidents’ children also go to public schools.

To this, Mr Nasar said that the principle of equality is not even implemented in parliament where members of the National Assembly were given development funds and not senators.

Thats why we will always remain third world countries because of the mindset.

As i said in the other thread this is a Zamindar mindset which is needed in some quantity but not ruling party.

This should motivate the poor to become rich. If you are born poor that is not your fault, but if you are still poor as an adult then hundred percent your fault.

Easier to say for city brats living urban life style with atleast somewhat working "public infrastructure" and systems in place.

Saying is just too easy for some people when they don't even have the idea how most people are living in rural areas of 3rd world countries.

Well even in the west they share the same mindset, only they aren't dumb enough to say it publicly. The main difference is that the poor over here are given the opportunity to climb their way out of the gutter if they really want it.

Of course but in west the government still pays basic money if you are unemployed I believe and does not let you just rot.. In sub continent the population is just too much and mindset in people is wrong.. Even a middle class person would talk rudely to a taxi driver and a taxi driver talk rudely to a rikshaw puller and a rikshaw pulled talk rudely to a beggar.. It's not just politicians/rich folks tbh most people are the same we don't respect people and don't respect all professions equally..

Sometimes, I think Pakistan needs a "French Revolution"

Build a guillotine in major cities and start beheading corrupt politicians, chaudharies, waderas, mullahs etc.

Poor are born to serve the rich.

We all do it. We work for Rich people/corporations and get paid in one form or the other.

He's dumb enough to say it out loud. But exposed the desi mind-set. Whether its blue team or green team.

Do you all really think this is a desi mindset?

Screwing the middle and lower classes is something seen across the globe

The rich in the west can afford to pay the poor in their own societies because they can get the same services and goods provided much cheaper by far poorer people in the third world. Plus in the west we don't worry about individual poor standards and behaviours, we put systems in place where those that abuse them are dealt with, otherwise there would be the same chaos as you get in undeveloped countries. Look at what happens during riots or natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina. Then the lowlifes are suddenly looting and fighting over stolen goods like animals because law and order has broken down. Desis like to whinge and moan about "our people think like this" rather than do something about it.

How is someone with no money supposed to be rich? To be rich one needs a job. If one wants to be rich they need a good paying job. Don't think good paying jobs exist without any education. The poor don't have any money to begin with, what do they do??

There are many instances of poor people becoming rich just through hard work, grit and a bit of luck. But many more use poverty as an excuse and want to forever live on welfare and charity.

this statement is partially true for African Americans in the US..they get enough money to buy 'food' and 'groceries' from the Government on a monthly basis and guess what they spend it on? JORDANS!

Another scheme to get more money from the government is to keep popping babies, usually one of the parents ends up leaving and the other gets lots of money in child support, which they obviously pocket and not spend on the children.

That's one in a million type of story man, You can't just be expected to be rich with no education.

There is a boy in my office who serves coffee to everyone. I always find him watching tv shows and movies on youtube, on his phone, using the excellent office wifi. He could have spent that time watching educational videos and learn something. But he is happy serving coffee to those who worked hard. These kind of poor people are a burden on the planet.

Ofcoure but it's easier said than done. It's very easy to say to do something, change mindset, put systems
In place etc but ultimately the only thing in your hand is to vote to get someone in power to put proper systems in place apart from that is to change your own mindset... The laws and system to punish people who abuse the system are present here too but they are never implemented and have plenty of loopholes in them..

I would like to ask you can you give me some concrete steps on ehat can be done to change it??

Someone has to be the Chai serving kid. At least he enjoys his job. If everyone is a boss, who is going to clean the toilets, mop the floor and cook food?

There will never be equality in the society. It only exists in dreams.
