Watching him against South Africa in the Under 19 world cup quarter final.

Good pace between 85mph and 87mph in his first over. Decent action. Run-up not too long.

Head position needs adjusting when delivering the ball but that will improve.

Could get closer to the stumps but again that will come.

Impressed with him.

Yah he looks good..Averaging around 140 km/hr, has bowled one at 142 already..6'5'' so gets steep bounce from a good length..

Havent seen him get the bowl to come into the right handers yet..but hes only 17.

Warming up now and getting good bounce from just short of a length.

Mixing up his length very cleverly. Getting the batsmen on the back foot and then pitching it up.

Looks a good prospect. Could get fast tracked after a good PSL just like Shadab.

His action reminds me of Junaid Khan, but a more clean and smooth version.

It's important to develop young bowlers but Shaheen is far better than I imagined.

Wouldn't be surprised if he's fast-tracked.

Even though he's a leftie, he could be that hit the deck bowler we are looking for. If he has a good PSL, he could be fast tracked.

Beautiful outswinger to the right handed batsman.

Just adjusted his wrist slightly for that delivery.

He is good, very impressed by him. Gets good bounce and pace is up there as well. With minor improvements and build he can get more control and become a regular 145 bowler.

Watching him the very first time today vs SA and this kid looks amazing!!

Get him in, now. Better than Yamin, Faheem, Raees or any other of those run of the mill trundlers.

his bouncers are lethal...chin music at 142km/hr....and hes 17!

He won’t learn anything toiling away in domestics.

Get him in the side

Amir
Hasan
Shaheen

He is our future.

Bowling is looking great for us, Hassan, Shadab and Shaheen are already proven enough for me

Ponty reckons he could be bowling at 155kph by 20. :))

That's a bit much. :))

Definitely could start hitting 148-150 KPH in his prime.

Starc was around 143-145 KPH on debut and then made adjustments to his action. All of a sudden he was cranking it up big time.

The entire pace trio can be coached to 90 mph, strong actions and strong lads. They're just 17.

To add seems a good competitor and is very hard to get away esp his short of a length deliverers.

Is he going to play the PSL?

Picked by Lahore Qalanders.

Will be competing with Sohail Khan, Mustafizur Rahman, Mitchell McClenaghan, Imran Khan, and Ghulam Mudasser.

Great to hear, hopefully he gets a few games so we can see how he does against the best.

His fielding is good too...

Seems like a good prospect for Pakistan. Needs to be taken care of

He will need to perform with the bat today for Pakistan to get through to the semis.

As a Pakistani, witnessing the NZ tour has been a nightmare. But Shaheen has really soothed the heart today. He really is an exceptional talent and inshallah he will do wonders for Pakistan in the future.

Oz picked Brett Lee and Cummins when they were 18 or so. Let him grow for one more year and then chuck him in. No point letting fast bowlers rot on the vine, pick em while they are ripe.

You don't even have to look at Australia for that, we have a long tradition of getting fast bowlers into the frying pan at an early age, no reason not to continue that with someone who shows enough promise

I don't know why shaheen is getting all praises but in my view the other pacer is better. He got all bases covered. Shaheen doesn't look like ready yet

Shaheen is getting hype because he has got all the ingredients of a great fast bowler.
smart
tall
quick
gets awkward bounce
swings it both ways (and he can swing at it just short of a good length as well)
The other bowler is also a great prospect but isn't as good

Need some work to do. Put him in academy and under intensive training and intensive care and then unearth him.

Height - check

Ability - check

Brain - check (thank God)

A great prospect.

most importantly guidance of elder brother (raiz afridi former cricketer) just like hasan ali it will help him

to stay focus and don,t carry away with little fame

I just hope he doesn't rot away in domestic cricket. Domestics ruin our bowlers, blood him in young and have him learn the trade from the best coaches.

? The only thing that he needs to work on is the inswing to the right handers. If he does that we have an absolute gem on the scene.

He looks pretty good, as do a lot of players at this age .From now till the senior team, he needs good coaching throughout the academy system and increased tours in Eng/Aus/SA.

Looked impressive so far.Looking forward to see him in PSL.The bounce he gets is amazing.wonderful talent!!

Amazing control and his bowling wonderful to watch, can run out batsmen from 30+ metres back, swings and seams both ways, still not 18 yet can bowl over 140 clicks. Not just a bowler but a complete match winner and rare talent.

I hope Amir sees his bowling and learn how to bowl on NZ pitches from him. If Imran Khan or Wasim Akram would've been captain, Shaheen would be in the Pakistan XI. His brother Riaz Afridi also had a meteoric rise in the U-19 but gained weight and felt out of contention. Hope he is managed well.

He and Junaid are more needed in the Pakistan team. If I was selector I would remove Amir and put Shaheen in his place to travel to England.

Our academy has spoilt, messed more than create players. This academy has made 90s players look like extraodinary talent. Our Pakistani psyche needs strong mentoring, Shaheen can get better if he travels with Pakistan team more than being screwed inthe academy by our know-it-all trainers. They will mess with his bowling line, his action and if he is not liked they will try to ruin his game.

According to some reporters Micky is of the opinion that We will keep Shahin SHah in test squad and will keep him in our tours,Thats great,

He is so impressed that he wants to guide him himself instead of letting him rot in the domestic arena.

Shaheen Shah Afridi to debut tomorrow!

It will be greatest service by Micky to Pakistan cricket if he is able to groom Shaheen into a successful fast bowler.

Will be awsome. If he does his debut this year in england will be icing on the cake.

Would be a bonus. But I am already happy with him being around Arthur. He is still very young and doesn't need to play everything.

They are going the Shadab route, but pacers are a bit different and need to be handled with care otherwise you can lose them forever.

What credentials does Mickey have as a "bowling coach".... I don't see how Mickey can make a successful bowler out of Shaheen

Azhar Mahmood can. A lot of credit goes to him for Hasan’s development.

Just don’t know why he hasn’t been able to do anything with Amir :danish

Not as bowling coach but his believe in Shaheen is heartening to see. Clearly Micky rates him highly, want him to be part of Pakistan future plan.

Don't think Shaheen would have been playing tomorrow without the support of Micky.

Should play both T20's and if he impresses should be taken to ZIM.

Has been included for the Tri Series so good chance for him to show his talent but should he also have been in the ODI squad?

I feel like they don't intend on giving him too many chances just yet, either way he's young and just being a part of the squad in itself despite not getting much action is still a huge benefit. Plus with him in the system he can be nurtured more carefully. However, sooner rather then later they need to increase his activity but there is no rush.

I want him in every squad so he can develop and no reason why he can’t be given chances during dead runners etc.

Should have played both T20s vs Scotland.

Nah those flat pitches and tiny boundaries at The Grange aren't an ideal place to debut.

However on dry, flat Zimbabwean pitches it'd be good to bring him in with his pace and height.

We should be beating Scotland regardless of conditions so it's not an excuse to not give someone a game.

It wouldn't be his debut as he played in Pakistan against WI.
