why give a player struggling for form the additional burden of captaincy? Its a domestic t20 tournament anyways so who cares as long as he gets some form back in time for India series.

Lols, should have gone with Asad. He is the future.

Hopefully he give chance to Saad shakila Karachi UNDER-19 all rounder

Dolphins always play better without him, his selfish attitude will come to the fore.

atleast not like Hafeez ... Afridi is very supportive to all his team mates
specially youngsters

Shahid Afridi in current form should not even be in the squad. He is there purely for marketing reasons.

However, the way I see it, having Shahid Afridi in the squad means somebody who deserved it more than Afridi is sitting out.

Bad option. Karachi is a star studded side. Needed a experience player to captain them. Sami, Afridi or Khalid Latif. These three have captained Karachi before. Asad never did. Neither in FC nor in List A games. Means he is pretty inexperience when it comes to captaincy.

Poor :shafiq

Mr me me me will never play under any young captain. I'm sure he has used his government level connections to get the captaincy :altaf :))) :))) :))) :)))

Brilliant stuff from Afridi, leading from the front. I wonder if Pakistan will ever find somebody as selfless as him. True fighter. What a man! :14:

LOL Really?

He could've shipped of to Australia to play Big Bash for more money but he stayed back for the country because he has a big heart. Don't be jealous okay :afridi

KCCA were flying high, making Asad Shafiq the captain of a T20 team . Sami led us well, Latif led us several times and not to forget Latif was the man of the tournament last time.

Asad is our future not Latif,Sami or Afridi

The future does not have any captaincy experience yet. And we can not risk Karachi Dolphins by making an inexperience captain in this competitive tournament. If we want to develop him as a captain for future? Let him captain Karachi Zebras first.

Well its time he gets it, this tournament isnt that serious. Asad Shafiq should be trained and with Afridi to help him he can learn

Agree. Rather see Afridi captaining than Asad. To be fair to Asad anyway, he isn't a T20 regular, nor is he an ODI one really (don't expect he'll play next ODI, with Azhar bound to play now, and someone else at six, probably Malik or Harris Sohail, not that Malik really deserves a spot though on his form). So he has to focus on developing himself as a limited overs player, and keeping up his good test career so far. Don't see the point of him gaining limited overs captaincy experience at the moment (which is pretty different to tests), especially in T20 a format he's unlikely to play much in. Faysal Bank is important, it identifies potential limited over stars, and that shouldn't be messed up by a guy just trying his hand at captaincy. Yeah it's just T20, but it pulls a lot of people, a lot of people watch, plus it's televised. So it gives a chance for cricketers to perform and a lot of people to notice.

Having said that, thought Sami did a decent job when he captained the Dolphins. Might have been better to stick with him.

Champions Trophy?? It isn't serious? The biggest competition of the country? Argue with some logic. He should prove his credentials by captaining a weaker side in my opinion coz he does not have any kind of captaincy experience. And he is not a good T20 player.

Agree with everything in your post :). Sami is a very good captain.

Did i ever say champions trophy is serous, if asad captains a weak side he wont get alot of matches. If he captains a side with afridi, latif he has more chances and more confidence

You said that the most competitive tournament of the country is not meant to be taken seriously.

At least we would have known how is he handling the players? Does he have captaincy potential? Giving him the captaincy in a star studded line up is insane, given that he himself is not a good T-20 player. It was difficult for him to lead by example. And already there were candidates who were more deserving than him.

It's all about lobby my frd. Pakistan Cricket Club's lobby is going strong. I heard that Ramiz Raja has been named the captain of Karachi Zebras who also plays PCC.

These Faysal Bank T20 games used to be entertaining as well. Sialkot Stallions, Lahore Lions, Faisalabad Wolves, Karachi Dolphins and Rawalpindi Rams were good sides. Later Peshawar Panthers emerged with a double strike.

The difference being that these sides had more local support because of the city system.

This era gives me the creeps. I will never be nostalgic about the first half if this horrible decade which was defined by Misbahism.

The second half was corrected by Mickey, only to be undone by the beghairat once again.
