Shahid Afridi vs Gautam Gambhir: Kashmir edition

This thread seems like the Wagah border...

Afridi's English is not that good. He is incapable of comebacks like that. Someone else typed that up for him.

Agreed. It was a good comeback by Afridi, which is why I doubt it was him. Good on him for hiring a proper PR intern :)

Tbh there wasn’t even need of a comeback.

Gambhir has embarrassed himself enough

When has Kohli ever made a fool out of himself with his statements or tweets?

First of all he makes fool of himself with his antics on field.Secondly he has given many idiotic statements like "I dont respect Mitchell Johnson",questioning journalists who ask him about team composition, fighting with umpires. All this GG has also done.Reason why Kohli didnt reach GG level is due to a great PR team.Otherwise starting traits were same

Looks like he chickened out of tweeting this time after embarrassing himself :))

Cringe worthy comeback from Gambhir.

Least he could've done was to just shut up.

Some fights get personal’ - Gautam Gambhir on equations with former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi

Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir has regularly exchanged verbal exchanges with former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi on Twitter in the past few months. The Twitter tiff started after Afridi launched a vicious attack on Gambhir in his autobiography earlier this year, and called him out as someone who does not have a personality and has an attitude problem. Gambhir was recently questioned on tense relations with Afridi, and the cricketer-turned-politician said that it grew into a personal rivalry between the two.

Speaking in an interview to Indian Express, the BJP MP said: “Some fights do get personal and there is nothing wrong with that. It has been like that for a very long time. Sometimes it is nice to get personal with someone.”

Gambhir, who has played 147 ODIs, 58 Tests and 37 T20Is in the Indian jersey further said that he enjoyed good relations with some Pakistan cricketers, but never had one with Afridi, during his cricketing days. “I have had decent relationships with Pakistani players, off the field, but not with Shahid Afridi. So that is the reason we got personal,” he said.

The former left-handed batsman also took a sly dig at Afridi, saying that the cricketer “will never write”. He added that he is fine with having a sour relation with the former Pakistan captain.

The second he gets personal in person, fake bravado BJP politician face would be closer to the floor than he already had compare to other men.

The only person in this conflict getting is personal is Ghambir, trying to stay relevant, as if he needs Afridi to stay in lime light..Almost similar to Indian media, they need Pakistan to sell their content..or similar their PM, who needs to get Indian soldiers killed in fake air strike.

obsession and confuse nation.

Former Indian cricketer and BJP MP Gautam Gambhir took to Twitter to welcome a minor girl, Omaima Ali, from Pakistan and her parents after they were granted visas to travel to India for medical purpose following Gambhir's intervention.

Apparently, Gautam Gambhir had written a letter to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar appraising him of a girl in Pakistan whose parents wanted to bring her to India for a heart surgery.

In a statement to ANI, Gautam Gambhir said, "I requested EAM and I am thankful that he has accepted the request and granted the visa. I am thankful to the PM & Home Minister too. Hopefully, she can get treated well."

He also said, "I have always maintained one thing that I have problem with Pakistan government, ISI and the terrorist outfits that are there in Pakistan, but if the 6-year-old girl can get treated in India, what better can happen."

Acting on Gambhir's letter, S Jaishankar asked the Indian High Commission in Islamabad to issue visas to the girl and her parents so that she could travel to India.

Gautam Gambhir tweeted a photo of the letter that Jaishankar wrote to him informing that the girl and her parents have been given visas in Islamabad.

Besides the photo, Gambhir also accompanied a couplet in Hindi with the photo in his tweet. The couplet read (translated version):

"When a gentle heart approached us from the other side,
our heart set aside all barriers and boundaries;
with her tiny feet, she also brings sweet air for us,
it appears as if a daughter is visiting her home"

In his letter to Gautam Gambhir, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, "I have asked our High Commissioner in Islamabad to issue appropriate visas to Omaima Ali and her parents. With regards."

This is not the first time that despite strained relations with Pakistan, India has issued visa to people in Pakistan on humanitarian grounds so that they could avail critical medical facilities in India.

Pakistani people should be separated from their GOvernment and ISI. When it comes to helping people in need, nation barriers should break.

Good on Gambhir. He has good heart.

To be honest, not a single Indian hates or even dislikes the common folk of Pakistan. By common folk I mean any one not involved in policy and decision making.

Even at the most jingoistic volume turned up by 1000 in India for example movies like Gadar or other such movies, it is always the army or the politician who are shown as evil. The common folk are shown to have a heart of gold. Even in Dhoni biopic movie, they went out of their way to show how kind Pakistani shop keeper was.

You don't see high profile people like cricketers and other celebrities in India make sweeping generalized and irresponsible statements like "inki zehniyat aisi hai" "bagal me churi" "chotey dil" etc etc. I am sure there are a few loons on our side but they are pretty much irrelevant.

Hats of to Gambhir. The man calls spade a spade and is not all talk. when it comes to actually doing something noble, he gets it done without any hype.

There seems to be very less action on this thread. wonder why?

gambhir is a good man at heart.
I remember in support of transgender community he sported a dupatta & bindi for them.
Just too sensitive about nationalism & army.

good gesture by him, he has a good heart, but emotionally is very weak when it comes nationalism.

Tell me this, what is wrong with being patriotic. He was pro-army and has his political leanings but as he has shown here and in the other example given above when it came to transgender community, he has shown his humane side. Atleast that is a lot better than people passing jingoistic comments and not taking any action.

Nationalism should never interfere with HUMAN interest. Human interests should be above all interests simple as that. Being nationalistic isn't bad, but it becomes bad when it becomes a religion/cult.

there is a limit to nationalism. being an ultra nationalist is to this extreme is not healthy.

There is a difference between the pakistani state and the ordinary pakistani.

Nation is what binds us. It the single most important and common factor among Indians.

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Delhi and former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir claimed that he has received death threats from ‘ISIS Kashmir’. According to news agency ANI, Gambhir approached the Delhi Police, following which security has been beefed up outside his residence.

In a letter to the Central DCP of Delhi, Gambhir stated that he has received a threat email from the handle of ‘ISIS Kashmir’, which read, ‘We’re going to kill you and your family.’

DCP central Shweta Chauhan informed that the investigation into the alleged death threats is underway.

“Gautam Gambhir has received death threats from ‘ISIS Kashmir’ through e-mail. Security has been beefed up outside Gambhir’s residence,” Shweta Chauhan, DCP – Central District, told news agency ANI.

Further investigation is underway.

New Delhi: Former cricketer and BJP MP Gautam Gambhir on Sunday received another death threat allegedly from 'ISIS Kashmir', the third in six days, police said.

"Your Delhi Police and IPS Shweta (DCP) cannot uproot anything. Our spies are also present in the police. All the information is being received about you," the e-mail, which Gambhir received at 1.37 am, read.

A senior police officer said they had received the content of the e-mail and were investigating the matter.

The cricketer-turned-politician had received death threats on Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to a police complaint filed by Gaurav Arora, Gambhir's personal secretary, the MP received the first death threat on his official e-mail ID at 9.32 pm on Tuesday. The e-mail, allegedly from ISIS Kashmir, read, "We are going to kill you and your family."

"On receiving the complaint, the district police increased (Gambhir's) personal security as well as the security of his residence in Rajinder Nagar area. The police are currently inquiring into the source of the complaint," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Shweta Chauhan had said.

Soon, the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations unit of the Special Cell wrote to Google seeking information on the account handlers and the registered e-mail ID through which the alleged emails were sent.

Police said the DCP was informed over a phone call about the second death threat from the same e-mail ID at 2.32 pm on Wednesday.

According to the complainant, the second e-mail was attached with a video of Gambhir's residence.

"We intended to kill you, but you survived yesterday. If you love the life of your family, stay away from politics and the Kashmir issue," the second e-mail read.
