ICC building him up as a 32 year old is so funny.

So they build Afridi as a 21 year old in 1996, and expect everyone to forget?

They were building him up as a 16 year old and than bam the proof was in front of our eyes when they showed his age as not 16, but 21, was it an error or what?

Afridi was born in 74, making him 37 right now, not 32.

Oh wow! Great mystery is decoded! Amazing, I am speechless.

I still think he is just 16 btw.

Funny thing is he's Misbah's age, maybe a few months older/younger, but Misbah looks like he has a few years on Shahid.

Afridi has aged pretty well IMO.

I don't believe he is 37..looks the stated age (32).

Consider performance. Looks can be deceiving.:)

Afridi is 33/34 max, I remember watching a geo interview where he admitted his age was concealed, but only by 2 years, nothing more than that

And you believed his statement?

How old are you?

He's not one to lie? One of the reasons he was banned from speaking to the media. Why would he lie anyway? To prolong his career? The same career he's ended a few times already and is looking to once again even though he's listed at 32?

Been on this board twice as long as you have

I guess you don't know many pakistani's, trust me man a lot of people lie about there age like no tommorrow, once i asked a guy i knew to see his license, and he showed me while covering the birth year, he thought i was stupid, but he was obvously trying to hide his age.

36-37 is the right age for him. His fitness has probably been helped by the fact he was just a spinner and batsman. If he was a fast bowler he would have left the seen ages ago.

Some things never change , Afridi 's age is one of them . He shall always remain 16 .

Don't care about his age, this is just another excuse to watch that innings

he is only 1 year younger then :misbah
btw .. afridi doesnt look 37 ..

I accept my mistake, all respect for Lala lost, I guess he doesn't understand that Islam comes into play in all facets of life, not just at home away from the cricket ground.

Lol at people saying stop worrying about Afridi's age.

Funny thing is these are the very people who are saying Misbah should drop the bat because he's too old.

No surprise, we ve always known hes a good 3-4 years older than he pretends to be

So now the question is, afridi fans who always ask forthe removal of misbah as he wont be there in the next world cup, what about afridi?

lol
does he look like a 37 year old?
although I believe he is slightly older than his billed age, but 37 is way too old...
just for the sake of comparison take Laxman as an example, does he look of the same age as Afridi?
mystery re-solved ;)

lol Laxman and Brett Lee played under 19 together. and VVS looks so much older than Lee

Afridi is definitly 35+. No way hes less then 35. 36-37 seems about right

Afridi is 35. I remember Razzaq was guest at a mela here and he was asked how old he was last year. He was honest and said he was 34. Razzaq and Afridi are the same age. And I am pretty sure that if you do enough research you will find that he was born in 1977.

we will not need to ask afridi to retire he wil retire before 2015 world cup and misbah will not retire if he iz not forced

just another number when afridi is mentioned numbers go out the window :p.

why it has been such a issue for long time? with the all the rampant corruption in India, concealing age or lying on the age is the most difficult one! what about the birth certificates and other documents?

Yes Razzaq is also around 35

Gibbs is 38. He looks much younger than 38 and sure does look younger than Afridi.

Brett Lee also looks younger than Afridi and he turns 36 this year so I wouldnt be suprised If he is in fact 37

Yawn! Only Afridi fan-boys care. Most people who can think rationally want him out of the team.

In Lalaland, Afridi is immortal. Your argument is invalid.

Lol.. So what happened to world cup preperations? Why not drop afridi right now and start world cup preperations from now?

Always thought Afridi was 3-4 years older than what was claimed.

Yeh I remember Afridi wearing the number 77 shirt for a while (up to world cup 2003). Just like Younus Khan who wears the number 75 for the year he was born, making him 36 years, instead of 34 which is often stated

is there anybody in the pakistan team whose age is exactly what they say it is?

or does everybody have 3-4 birth certificates on them?

Are we talking about the world wide age or Pathan age?

I really doubt that, unfortunately it is a custom over here. Most people register their age at least 2 years younger while appearing in high school examination (because HSS certificate serves as an age determining document from there on)
So even in common public it is customary to state a wrong age. I am a witness to all this.

Guys i am confused so much, what is afridis real age? its hard to believe he is 37 but i guess he bats like one :)

Hes 37...

When he made that century he wasn't 16.

It's in that video...Age 21...

wow, am not surprised his reflexes have diminished and people expect him to be the king of loftes strokes at that age :/, which 37 year old hits every ball for 6 i can't think of anyone and mr afridi should retire immediatly i don't see him in our plans long term age has caught up with the immortal one :afridi

My question is how did they manage to bring his age down by 5 years since then?

 for people who say he isn't 37 because he looks younger.

Not every person ages quickly. Depends on your routine, diet and how much you give your looks and physique importance. I have a 40 year old neighbor who doesn't look more than 30.

Besides Afridi gives his appearance a lot of importance and I wouldn't be surprised if he uses fair and lovely in real life as well.

Played age group cricket with afridi, and I know for a fact he was 20-21 when he made his debut.

Hasan Raza was 18 when he played his 1st test.

Hiding your age was a common thing back then. There was one guy who played u-19 for zone 2, who had 2 kids. His kids used to come to watch his u-19 game :)) btw he was a friend and we went to his wedding and knew he was at least 25.

Has anyone ever wondered why afridi did not play in the 2005 u-15 WC in England?

Bone testing had just started, and he would have fallen outside the range.

A fashion designer who used to come to a gym i used to go to in Defence Karachi and knows Shoaib due to the social gatherings they would both frequently meet up at, told me that Akhtar was actually 40 at the time of his retirement in 2011. I wasnt to surprised to hear that either. I am pretty sure a lot of our players lie about their age. Heck Amir could be older than officially reported.

Bone test(Wrist test) In U19 World cup.

He passed the test so he can max be 1 year older than he really is.

Afridi must have submitted fake age to stat sites like cricinfo during its inception. Or when ICC filled information for their record, there must have been some kind of form where he changed it. Also, there is a possibility that when he submitted papers for his passport, he put down fake age.

Then that means, he was 33 during 2003 World Cup....Damn that pace at age 33 with that long run up.

But damn 40... now we know why he was always so tired, Buddha :))
