Both of these players have been playing Test Cricket for a while now. Both in their 30s. Shan a little older.

KL has played over 50 Tests and averages 33.

Shan has played 37 Tests and averages 29.

Throughout their careers in this format specially fans have been criticizing them. Wanting to drop them from the team. Still they somehow are still in the team.

Lots of talent. Lots of unfulfilled potential. Despite that both batters have one of the worst Test record as batter in recent times. Which one you think is better and which will achieve something worthwhile in this format at the end of his career?

Man, i never realised that K Rahul's test stats were so poor. And that too, he's played 50 games.

I'd still pick KL any day over Shan. Shan just always looks like a walking wicket

Masood is hurting you only towards the end of his career. KL Rahul has been doing for a decade across the formats. He would score a 100, go missing for several matches. Invariably chokes in pressure situation. He has a unique tournament record

Rohit 2007 wt20 win, 2024 wt20 win, CT 2013 win, IPL win, CL win
Kohli 2011 wc win, 2024 wt20win, CT 2013 win, U19 final win
KL Rahul records

No world cup win
No WT20 win
No CT win
No IPL win
NO U19 win

Any time he is part of the side India invariably did not win. First time they dropped him for WT20 2024. Viola. India wins. Certified panauti.

KL Rahul used to be good. His innings in SA were commendable but since WC lost his touch. Shan is in a better nick at the moment compared to him.
He has played too much cricket at top level despite being very inconsistent. I think he is into 50 or 60 tests now, that's just too many for some one producing this kind of output. He does have some tons in different conditions so that's not an issue, but highly inconsistent.

It is an insult to Indian batting legacy to average 33 notwithstanding the difficult home conditions.

Tough conditions at home or tough conditions away, if a batsman is going to average 30s home and away both after 50-60 tests then it's a problem. In 50-60 tests, you are going to get some not so tough conditions as well home and away.

Also, in same tough conditions at home in the last 10 years, I just looked at some Indian batsmen record.

Kohli/Pant/Jaiswal above 60 average. Sharma is averaging 50. Pujara/Gill/Vijay in mid 40s. Jadeja/Patel around 40.

It's one thing if you don't have ability to score, but he has like 6-7 away tons. He is simply too inconsistent and 50-60 tests are lot. He may travel to Aus due to experience but he should be out of team after that unless he has a really great series in Aus.

He will play quite a good knocks with high inconsistency on very tough pitches such as first test match in south Africa tour .Afterwards he will go missing for a while .He is completely helped by dravid, rohits preferential treatment and indecisiveness. They brought their friends Iyer,Sky who don't have much technique and never looked for long term solution.Next year india will be playing mostly at home only so I don't think kl will be preferred over sarfaraz .

I don't follow Indian selection much so not aware of these details. It's poor from Rohit/Dravid if they are bringing players due to friendship. Yes, it can happen in situations where you see some players more due to being part of the same set up in domestic and get confidence that player makes the cut for the top level. 5-10 matches are understandable, but 50-60 tests with lower 30s avearge?

Kl got a good support at the selection level. He was selected as odi captain for sa tour right after his atrocious innings in wc finals.everyone knows that once he is dropped,he can't make a comeback so he is hanging on it by a thread .As u said he will be travelling to aus but should not be considered later

WHat good nick bro??

Shan is nicking atm only towards the slips, that is the best he is doing.

KL is the worst guy in the India team but his stats are still better than Shan, and shan is our captain....LOL
