What's new

Shoaib Malik : The most naturally gifted Pakistani batsman of recent times?

but he threw away.sometimes you need to get obvious things.
100 vs Srilanka in the First ODI in the recently played series.

While chasing 240 odd.

Chased the whole total down himself.

Also 4 wickets to back his batting performances.

That is still better than a nearly chase.

I thought knocks against zimbabwe dont matter since zimbabwe is a minnow
Thats what everyone says when Hafeez performs against them :p

They don't matter. Except in this bottom of the barrel scraping competion between malik and Hafeez: even the poor hafeez comes second when the pressure is on.

He is having time of his life, he is performing well, people are loving him again and his wife is on her way to win like 8th grand slam of the year and is no 1 doubles team.
He should make most out of this purple patch because when the bad time comes, there will be no friends.

His true worth will come from later this month. With the confidence of this good form, he needs to translate it against the better teams.

Stay strong brother - all great men suffer adversity in life but eventually they rise like the titans they are. Even players like Bradman and Sir Viv had to face such cruel defeats.

Last five years should have toughened him up. I am not heartbroken. Winning and losing are part of the game. Today's match might be the best thing happened to him. Who knows we may get to witness more jubilant centuries in the upcoming series in this year and possibly the next year. After all, he has a lot to make up for what he missed in his five years. :sanga

It could gave helped convert a lot of borderline haters. Hopefully Shoaib being married to a successful Tennis player would be more able to deal with this tragic event. If he has really improved, there will be many more opportunities.

Overall, people must respect **** have limited batting battint talent and Shoaib probably is the best of the lot.

Yes. :malik

The Don is back. As I predicted, double ton is ON.

He's gonna rock it now in England as well, against England. :P

All for the greater good. :jf

Loved to see some cover drives and straight shot and loved how he handled new ball well. :)

Mark my words Mian Malik will score a triple ton at lords next year.

LEGEND and Next Test Captain

Wow. Freelance cricketer - a better judge of talent than anyone else. Who wouldve thought Malik would make a ton on return to Test cricket. You are a legend FC Bhai

Said it ages ago.

Many congrats to the genuine supporters of Malik who stood by him when he was unable to give these performances because he was being misused and wasnt given a proper run. Ever since he got proper run in the side, a permanent position result has been in front of everyone. This is all that Malik would have done many years ago if he was provided the same things by the team management. Nonetheless.

He's probably the most naturally gifted at taking away Indian women.

the hilarious thing is FC started this thread for trolling but he didn't know Malik will make such a mega comeback..now poor FC has to pretend his thoughts weren't trolling each time Malik plays a good knock and he is doing regular basis:))):)))

Quite an unnecessary post. We are celebrating the legends cricketing achievements and fairytale comeback. And if it comes to taking away women, Mohsin, Imran, Wasim,Shoaib and plenty of others have superseded him in this regard.

One inns in UAE and people getting over excited as usual, other mediocre players like hafeez look good in these conditions, we have tours to New zealand, england and Aus coming up we will soon see whether malik has improved as a player or not then.

So coming into the test side at no 3 after a gap of 5 years and scoring a double hundred is nothing to be excited about?

Wow.

Just W-O-W!!!!

Take a bow Shobby. Such a mammoth innings. Full credit to the perseverance.

It's funny how Malik haters keep changing the goal posts. First Malik is just good enough for t20 then after his Odi performances he was just good enough for limited overs cricket or against Zim bowlers.
Now after performing against Eng bowlers at 3 down. It is how he can't perform in foreign conditions. In 5 years we play maybe be 5-6 out 50 tests in so called tough conditions so who cares.

Selfish Malik would be upset that his average in the series went down from 245 to 122.5 in one day.

Only 2 more zeroes and he will be back to his career average of 30. So countdown to Malik zeroes. Bouncers ahoy whenever he comes to bat lolll.

Your math is terrible bro. He needs 6 more zeros for that

I don't mind zero in second inning of 1st test. I hope he scores centuries in the rest of the series.

One thing we have learned after Malik's duck, that Misbah should retire at the end of the series. He is over. We cannot carry him to the tour of England next year.

Bad day at the office for Don club. :baelish

We could've lost this match after those two quick wickets, a duck and 1. Thanks to our ever-reliable duo for the rescue.

All Okay. After such a brilliant knock Mian Malik can afford to get 5 more zeroes at no.3.

It was such an honor for me to watch that magnificent innings from The Great One. Eagerly waiting for him to score a double a double hundred at lords next year.

I'm honestly sad for Malik that he couldn't score, because Pakistan could've easily lost this match. Both Shan and him scoring ducks was WAY TOO RISKY.

However, he probably was too tired to bat, so had to go back.

U guys are funny!!
He was only drafted in for the offspin.
He did well so credit to him. Can he have a comeback like misbah did. U never know. (Not at number 3 definitely)
But what he has done upto now in tests before the recall is not great. Simple

Agree with this. However, the thread is about Malik the most gifted Pakistani batsman, next Bradman and an upcoming Pak batting great, as claimed by his brigade. We're discussing that and agree with them.

Malik should move to number 5 which is his natural position, Yunus to 3 and Misbah to number 4. Open with Azhar Ali in place of Shaan Masood in the next test.

Why should Younis be made to bat at 3 and we sacrifice our best Test bat?

His poor duck and Shan's 1 almost cost us this match.

Mian Maik should bat where he is most comfortable. If we wants to bat at 5 then it's time for 2 coward seniors to move up the order to accommodate him.

Took six months for Malik haters to come out and complain. Did you dumb ***** see that he was our highest run scorer as well as the highest wicket taker.
And you are complaining about one bad shot.

GOAT innings from Don Malik today. We saw how good he is under pressure. :malik
So he was not under pressure when he was making a comeback into the test side after 5 years and he came in to bat when pak were 6 for 1 and Broad and Anderson were bowling superbly?
Come on bro

The thread that changed everything for Malik. All credit goes to freelance_cricketer :yk

I have an eye for talent. If only my Imran Farhat thread got some more support, he could have been back in the mix too.

Lol relax man. I was only joking.

After the beast scored a wonderful duck, in comes a spectacular 2!

Don :malik on a roll here in Test cricket.

obv doesn't have the luxury of bashing spinners like :yk and :misbah for 70% of his runs as he comes one down facing new ball. His job is to see off the new ball and let :yk and :misbah bash spinners to their daddy hundreds.:):)

Should not be a long-term option as a top-order bat in any form of the game. Even a child can tell. Perhaps the guy who plays #3 in FC cricket (i.e. Shafiq) should bat up the order instead... he isn't gonna be at #6 forever.

yeah you are right. All rounders usually bat lower down the order. Malik should be batting at 6 ideally and YK and Misbah should stop hiding behind sacrificial lambs.

YK and Misbah are at their positions, but the team management has got to stop treating Asad as a baby. I am not saying this in a malicious way, or because I want him to fail; I do think he can handle himself at 3, though perhaps his long-term future is more at 4-5. He plays at 3 in FC matches so why not Tests? Rather than trying silly experiments which may pay off once in a while.

Was starting to like him, but his clueless batting has made me think again about his ODI resurgence.

Probably a false dawn, will again fail against good attacks like he always has in 19 years of cricket. Or maybe not.

Let's see.

All of a sudden he is an allrounder. At first he was better than Misbah and Younis.

Took Hafeez to school. Now he is an 'allrounder' that can bat.

Wow the transition.

Sorry but having watched him since his debut, he's never convinced as a Test batsman. If there's any assistance for quality seamers then he gets found out. Yes he scored a great knock in Abu Dhabi but it was on a flat pancake. He's not a 33 averaging Test batsman who's been out of the Test team for 5 years by accident.

to be honest

i feel bad for him. I was too harsh on him. I just hope he is atleast a valuable odi batter.

Good luck to him in odis, I think in 3rd test he should bat at number 6

I like the attitude adopted by the naysayers. Make sarcastic comments so that you aren't embarrassed when he scores and can say 'told you so' when he fails.

Smart.

Ah, you were missed in the Support Thread when the going got tough for HKs. Well played. :srini

Playing a top knock on a difficult pitch.

New ball moved around early on with good pace and bounce. Then it has been spinning miles.

70+ here is equal to a double ton at Abu Dhabi

Yeah. Already on thirty six*, not less than a full ton. His bat scores 1 but people don't realize it actually means a full 3 runs. Can others match him? We'll have to wait.

Lol, what pace n bounce or movt?
The ball wasnt getting up more than waist high n the less said about lateral movt the better.
U surely need to post more in that malik support thread. Your fellow cult followers need you there

The only player who looked quality today on a difficult pitch, under pressure.

Eventually Misbah also showed some rsistance but still quality wise Malik looked more at ease. Had he stayed at the [pwicket more, Pakistan could have scored 350

101 meters

lol

One of the best sixes of the year.; It looked classy, was huge and would have actually been out of most stadiums.

I think Shobby stands between England and victory tonight.

Much respect to Shobby for sacrificing his wicket for the greater cause. He looked well set for a 150+ here.
