Should Babar Azam take bold decision to drop Shadab Khan from the Playing XI?

I have been crunching some numbers about Shadabs' batting & bowling averages since the start of his career until now. Both are trending in the wrong direction (I clumped 2021/2022 because during covid there wasn't much being played during those times). I think because he has been playing well in T20's I have been blindsighted as to how terrible has been in ODI's. His bowling average has been 40+ since 2019.

Time to move on from him

Agree that Shadab needs to be dropped after this WC.

He should be told to put the hard yards into domestic cricket, get an England summer gig and work very hard on his game in the off season.

If he ignores that and goes the Amir route of t20 mercenary then good riddance.

Usama Mir's performance against Australia was horrible.

It might be a better option to bring back Shadab who can atleast adds value with his batting and fielding.

Better injure Usama or Wasim and bring in Abrar. None of the spinners in current squad are international level.

What you talking about this is asia cup
It's international cricket and recognised by icc. full strength international teams playing each other
What has mir ever done for pakistan, all his success has been domestically , what is his highest score internationally

As for shadab Did south africa ever drop jonty Rhodes, this is why pakistan should leave shadab in the team

Right now Shadab gives you some experienced bowling and a decent batter late in the order. I would say we should keep playing him, but also try to get Usama going. I actually think we should play more spinners and slower bowlers on these pitches and sit out players like Rauf. Rauf will be very expensive against quality batting teams.

Shaheen, Hasan Ali, Shadab, Usama, Iftikar, Nawaz. I know that's a lineup heavy on spin, but that's what will keep the score down and us to be able to compete. We're approaching these matches as if we have a very strong fast bowling attack and can bowl out these teams. Sure, maybe we can one in 5 games. The other 4 games we're getting punished. SL put 350 on us. Aussies. India was killing us too. 3 out of 4 games, we've been punished around. This lineup of 3 fast bowling options won't work on these Indian pitches. Hasan Ali, Iftikar, Nawaz, Usama and Shadab should share the remaining non-Shaheen Afridi 40 overs. We aim to keep teams under 300, and then our batters on their day can make those scores on these wickets.

In Saj's interview with Azhar Mahmood, Mahmood talks about how Shadab's feet point in the wrong direction. It can be seen quite clearly here

He should focus on being batsman that is take Shoaib Malik route. He has no potential with the bowling at all.

Pakistan's legendary batter Inzamam ul Haq compared Babar Azam and Shadab Khan captaincy in PSL 9, while talking on a program on local media channel:

"Now, as we were discussing [Shadab Khan], he has utilized his players well. He utilized Imad Wasim very effectively. There have been a lot of changes in the Islamabad United squad, and their combination is improving day by day. So, he is utilizing each and every player very effectively."

"Now, it's already the second year for Babar as captain of Peshawar Zalmi, and he is doing well. [Sarcasm] 'If something is going well, credit goes to the management.'"

"So, both of them are experienced captains, but at the end of the day, it depends on how you handle pressure."

If IU win the PSL 9 Shadab will get many more chances. As it is the pressure from other spinners in the tournament is making him have to lift his game. Doing well in PSL is not necessarily an indication of the next step up performance results though.
