Should Pakistan follow the England model and have separate Red and White-ball Head Coaches?

England under Rob Key have taken this unique decision but is this something we can also follow? What are the pros and cons?

I think coaches do not matter much. Captains do.

You see the biggest changes in team performance, better or worse, when captains change.

Pakistan can try separate captains formula but there are no obvious red ball candidates.

Misbah for test coach, go abroad for a white ball coach.

This seems like a good solution that benefits all. In any case i don't think it can do much harm, particularly in ODI's where we are rock bottom already anyway.

Pak coach tenure depends on goodwill. Like if on Tour to Aus team gets blanked 0-3 then atleast in T20Is it will win 2-1 to save face.

If you take this also away then every 6 months new red ball coach will be needed

Pakistan play like 7 Tests a year lol. They don't play white ball cricket to the extreme like England does either.

I don't think it would make a difference.

We don't play the volume of Test cricket that England do.

True that.

If anything we should discard test specialists completely. If a player is not good enough for white ball, the he should also not be selected in red ball.

Splitting the coaches makes sense because it allows a clean separation of strategies.

Pakistani players have issues working with one coach - imagine the mayhem if there was more than 1 coach for them to work with.

No.

For Pakistan Cricket to be successful, the players need to undergo training and conditioning under the roof of a single head coach something(training, conditioning whatever you may call it) our players desperately lack in the domestic cricket. English players when called up are already coached and in their prime shape. They just need direction and adjustments. For Pakistan Cricket, it is much more.

You can't totally seperate the white and red ball teams. What about the workload management if one coach is not willing to not have a few of his players rested for his assignment. Plus during the off season (if there exists one), whose plans would the players be willing to follow in regards to conditioning/tweaking their games to?

Unfortunately we don't have batting talent to shine which is the most important aspect in modern LOI games where pitches are mostly flat. PCB still obsess with bowling department rather than batting and fielding.

Pakistan is not a top tier team , neither has that many top players to have two different coaches . Get one coach who has good credentials , and good supporting staff who know there job instead of big names.

The problem with Pak is the pool of players , there is a lot of crossover between formats, England have an embarressment of riches which would allow them to field 2 seperate teams simultaneously in different formats and still compete and probably win against most. With this setup you can have 2 different coaches, Pak is more suited to the one coach/mentor.
