Should Pakistan host Zimbabwe or postpone/ cancel the series?, or host SL for a competitive series?

I don’t think Zimbabwe is in any position to host a team for 30-40 days with bio secure bubble, conduct tests, provide bio secure hotels, isolation rooms if someone tests positive, etc

Pakistan is scheduled to play Zimbabwe for 2 tests and 3 t20is during IPL.

Pakistan can’t sit ideal with no cricket for 3 months as Pakistan have no cricket till July, apart from 3 Odis and 3 T20Is against SA in early April

So, should Pakistan host Zimbabwe instead?, but what would be the benefit, neither benefit of good competitive cricket nor any financial profit. If anything, I think PCB might make losses.

As far as I can recall not a single SL player plays in IPL, so should PCB get in talks with SLCB and host a 3 match test series and 3 T20Is?
Saj can you check from Wasim Khan what plans do they’ve for April/ May?

Pakistan really has to get their house in order if they want to get competitive.

Playing the likes of Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe both of whom we recently played at home to keep on playing against them won't be any good for the development of the players or for us as fans/supporters as it is overkill.

I would rather prefer that Pakistan cancels the Zimbabwe tour and look at alternatives or just get their players to work and train or send them to play county cricket if they can.

We hosted SL last and so you can't host them again, you gotta play on their backyard. Zimbabwae u could call over though instead of going there.

If I were Wasim Khan this is what I’d go for

April
1 TEST against Zimbabwe
Venue: Multan (no fans allowed)

3 T20Is against Zimbabwe
Venue: All 3 matches in Lahore (20% stadium capacity)

Benefits:
1) Multan hosting international cricket
2) Pak stadiums hosting fans back for international cricket
3) More T20I matches (considering T20I WC)
4) Stats padding
5) Introducing new players in the test team like Abdullah, Saud, Kamran, Agha and Sajid against minnow teams and at home

May
2 TESTs against SL
Venue: 1 in Karachi and 1 in Lahore (no fans allowed)

3 T20Is against SL
Venue: All 3 in Multan (20% stadium capacity)

Benefits:
1) Competitive cricket
2) More T20Is (considering T20I WC)
3) Multan hosting International (big) teams
4) May be few stats padding for Babar, Rizwan and Shaheen
5) New players settling down by playing more matches at home

Omg where are you getting that from? There’s no such rule that you’ve to visit them before hosting them again

1) No big country plays during IPL
2) No amount of working/ training comes close to match practice
3) Apart from Babar not a single player would get a county(red ball) contract.

I know that no big country plays during IPL which is why I didn't say host some other team instead.

Training or working with local coaches is atleast something and on top they've been travelling quite a bit since the pandemic started and these bio secure bubbles aren't easy to manage in.

So time at home with family and also working at the NCA and perhaps trying to get some of them some county cricket in between isn't a bad option either.

They already have a month of tamasha (PSL), then they’ve from May end to July first week with no cricket

Well there is such a thing as broadcasting rights, so the board hosting gets all those rights. Traditionally this is what i've seen you visit a country and then the next time you play they come over to you.

However, with that said won't mind playing SL in SL or playing SL at home, as long as the test ain't played in Pindi.

Pakistan's one test against Bangladesh is still pending. Can they arrange it somewhere in April. Bangladesh will also be free then.

That’s a “traditional” way, but not a rule tho. Playing SL (which is better than Pakistan in tests) would only help players

May is Ramadan so they might not do it.

Yes, will ask.

Better off organising a FC series with 3 teams made up from the best performers from QeA trophy this year and national squad. Would be highly competitive and gives younger talent like Abdullah and Haider a platform to develop.

3 teams made up of the best 33 players in Pakistan. Playing each other twice on good, sporting wickets. I’d take watching that any day over a borefest against Zimbabwe.

Schedule a Pakistan vs Pakistan A.

Either 3 match ODI series or a 4 day Test match. Allow Crowd to come in, put Mic on to the players and interact with the audience. Market it fully even in International Markets.

Select the best possible International Team for Pakistan.
Select like for like replacements in Pakistan A.
Very competitive, and you will also identify replacements of first choice players.

Pakistan need to play more Tests , it does not matter which team they play . PCB need to increase the number of Tests Pakistan play a year to 12 - 14 . Its very important.
