Just wondering with the current resources and the number of alrounders in the team, it may be worth considering to play an extra batsman. The bowlers seem to be leaking 300 plus anyways so might as well play a batsman down the order..
From the existing batch of players in the Champions Trophy, i would be tempted to play the following eleven going forward:
1. Azhar Ali
2. Ahmad Shehzad
3. Babar Azam
4. Muhammad Hafeez
5. Sarfaraz Ahmed
6. Shoaib Malik
7. Haris Sohail
8. Imad Waseem
9. Shadab Khan
10. Muhammad Amir
11. Hasan Ali

The above line up can bat all the way down and has 7 bowlers.

What do u guys think?

wont make a difference. this is a mentally weak side. you can play eleven batsmen and they will lose before they step on to the ground against a higher ranked team.

No. the conditions are already very batting friendly. We can't afford to make the bowling that weak else we will concede 400 and no amount of batting is gonna chase that down. Drop one of Azhar/Shehzad and play Haris.

I agree that overall the team is mentally weak but I must say that with the recent inclusions of Shadab Khan, Babar Azam and Hassan Ali, the ODI team does show a slightly better body language on the field.

Well Bangladesh just scored 340 against us, other teams too will score heavily. My point is to drop Wahab Riaz who is giving away 8 or 9 runs an over and play a Haris Sohail who may score a solid 30 or 40 odd down the order.

yes, directionally better, but most inclusions (barring babar azam) have been on the bowling side. without distracting from the thread, the real loss is sharjeel. bigger loss than all these players.

Trolling aside on a serious note if I have to give my opinion I would say Azhar Ali and Shehzad as openers in any team in modern day ODI's mean that team is not a championship winning team.. You need sharjeel back and a second opener who can accelerate when needed like an inform Rohit..

I wish we had qualified for this tournament.

Might as well play 11 batsmen, as it seems like they won't do a much worse job bowling than our current bowlers...

Wahab hasn't really merited a place in the side for a long time. Not really sure why Mohd Abbas wasn't selected, he surely would not have done any worse.

30 overs of spin. My goodness. You would break the record of 444.

And no matter how many batsmen you have. You can't chase 444. Especially with Shezi, Azhar, Babar and Hafeez as top 4.

Did you just called Rohit inform ?:yk2

it should either be Azhar or Shehzad...both can't play

Pakistan should play to their straight which is bowling not batting. We cannot chase 300 or 350 scores we can win when the scores are sub par 250 260 max. Our bowlers should deliver now and restrict the opposition to 250 otherwise we'll struggle.

this mentality is past its sell date.

Every single bowling line up in the world is conceding 300+ on regular basis. Its the batsmen who need to step into 2017.

Get your mentality and team upto date first. With players like hafeez, azhar, malik and shehzad only a buffoon would think about chasing 260 plus. Good luck with that.

Line-up has to be:

Fakhar Zaman
Mohammad Hafeez
Babar Azam
Sarfraz Ahmed* (WK)
Shoaib Malik
Imad Wasim
Shadab Khan
Fahim Ashraf
Hasan Ali
Mohammad Amir
Junaid Khan

We don't need an extra batsman. After today it looks like Fahim may be played instead of Shadab.
If there is one player who can win us the tournament, it is Shadab Khan. Even if he goes for 200 runs in his next 20 overs in ODI's, I would still stick with Shadab in the line up.

Shehzad , Fakhar , Babar, Malik, Harris , Sarfaraz, Fahim, Shadab , Amir , Hassan Ali , Abbas

This should be team for game against India.

You are playing far too many al rounders for my liking and the batting looks too light. Hafeez has had some success in recent times in ODI's at 3/4, so I would prefer him there.
Also Sarfaraz at no.4 is one number too high. Fahim Ashraf has had one good knock in a warm up and interestingly he is the prefered choice for everyone now. I havent seen much of Fakhar Zaman but a left hander up the order is a good idea. However I cant see how team management will ignore the experienced Azhar Ali and Ahmed Shehzad and play Fakhar Zaman instead.

No way in hell should Haris being playing at no. 7 - please swap him with Hafeez at 4.

Generically - I agree wtih you that we are a mentally fragile team but our only mental block is against India and Australia and sometimes against WI in ICC tournaments.

We have whipped SL home and away and in ICC tournaments without any fuss - even during Misbah's era.

And we have no such trouble against SAF either having beaten the in the last WC and in the 2012 and 2009 World T20 (we lost to them in the 2006 CT but that was ages ago).

You are using reverse logic!

We can pack our team with 11 bowlers yet still end up conceding 400 due to batting friendly conditions and surplus of trundlers in our team.

Atleast with an extra batsman - we give ourserlves SOME sort of chance if chasing large totals. It will be a batting shootout during this CT for sure.

My logic is correct. You want a decent and balanced attack on batting friendly wickets

If Fahim can actually perform the role of a pinch hitter on these wickets then this should be our lineup:

Ahmed Shehzad
Mohammad Hafeez
Babar Azam
Shoaib Malik
Sarfraz Ahmed
Haris Sohail
Imad Wasim
Fahim Ashraf/Shadab Khan
Mohammad Amir
Hasan Ali
Junaid Khan

IMO we shouldn't play Shadab against India as they play spin very well on flat wickets.

The advantage with this lineup is that
1) You've got pace, seam and swing bowling options fully covered(with Fahim)
2) A solid top 6 which can almost always hit big when set
3) Batting lineup extends till no.9 (we all know what Amir did on flat wickets)
4) Economical bowlers like Hafeez, Imad, Amir and Hasan
5) 3 specialist bowlers and 4 all-rounders and 6 proper batsmen

Absolutely not

Fahim in place of either Azhar/Shehzad.

For game against India. Shadab out, Harris in

Azhar/Shehzad
Hafeez
Babar
Haris
Malik
Sarfraz
Imad
Faheem
Hasan Ali
Junaid
Amir

For game against RSA, Junaid out Shadab in

Same team against Srilanka as against India
