The title says it all.
It may sound ridiculous or absurd but I think Wasim Khan should revisit the coaching advertisement with different aspects and salary.

So far only 11 (Misbah, Waqar, Jalaluddin, Yasir Arafat, Faisal Iqbal, Md Wasim, Md. Akram, Dean jones, Courtney Walsh, Botha and Mohsin Khan) people applied jobs for 4 positions. Out of which Jalaluddin and Md Akram withdrew their applications, Mohsin as stated in media is too old for the job, mean 8 people for 4 positions which looks really poor.

Out of these 11 only Walsh, Mohsin khan, Md. Akram and Waqar have international experience. Others are just newbies and ready to do experiment with International team.

Of those 4 Waqar is a trouble maker, Mohsin is just boastful guy with no proper technique, MD. Akram is pretty average in coaching and Walsh has some sorts of experience with International team for 2 years.

I am not too obsess with coaches but at least they need to be decent.

What Wasim khan should do to:

1. Re advertise the coaching jobs with more incentive and try to get coaches with proper technique
2. If PCB fail to get coaches like Hesson, Moody at least try to get people like Steve Rhodes or Hature for couple of years. With proper system we will do far better.
3. Make someone younger as captain who is more innovative and dynamic.
4. Bring more younger promising players with proper technique

Your opinion please!!!!

We are running out of time. Need to get on with hiring and we can reassess

mohsin is a proper idiot and do not want to see him anywhere near the Pak setup, whether it be senior, A team or U19.

He should have been barred from applying.

Waqar is a good bowling coach. I was most impressed how he got average bowlers (at the international level) to perform as front line bowlers for the attack. Just compare some of the talent he had to work with in his time as head coach and see how limited they were talent wise in comparison to the players the team has now. He did well.

I think it will likely be Misbah. I just do not know what sort of approach he brings to the team with regards to his tactics and mentality. Certainly for tests, we know he is a champion. He has great leadership ability. His tactics in ODIs were not up to par. However even with Mickey, we failed to bat well in the World Cup. I think it is about our batsmen, not our coaching or captain. We need batsmen groomed at the domestic level who have the mentality of Azam and Haris Sohail. Instead we pick players like Haq, Fakar, Hafeez. They just do not have the standard or mentality to be ODI batting beasts.

Go back to Mickey Arthur and grovel for him to return on double the salary, with Steve Rixon also offered double his old salary.

Words cannot describe just how vast a downgrade Misbah would be from Mickey Arthur.

Good and balanced post.

It will be a useless activity, candidates who were interested to apply have already applied. Re advertisement wont change mind of anyone.

You're not recruiting for someone in the postroom, it's as coach of an international team, you're not gonna come across anyone in cricket who won't know that the job is up for grabs.

Just make a appointment so this drama can be done. PCB have had long enough to make a appointment.

They should have made aggressive move and look to talk to top coaches personally.

Tom Moody , Fleming , Andy Flower etc would have been good choice , also someone like Hathura

We dont have time. We have a series coming up with Lanka in under a month's time and the players need to adjust and settle with the new coaching staff.

Besides PCB has probably decided on Misbah as head coach and Waqar as bowling coach.

Couldn’t agree any more - very well said.

People are overreacting. Which great coaches did we turn down last time? I remember Mickey Arthur applying. Probably Dean Jones applied then too. Struggle to remember any other notable names. Before that don't remember much competition to Waqar Younis, or Dav Whatmore. And fielding coaches were often got/replaced midway.

Mickey Arthur was rightfully let go. Cannot reward mediocrity and incompetence. In fact sticking with Mickey Arthur would have actually shown desperation on PCB's part.

In fact if you don't have a high quality international coach, then the PCB needs to learn to back their local coaches like the BCCI has done

Well, it looks like they'll do that with Misbah, but something tells me you won't be a fan of that move either....

I will take other local coaches over Misbah who is deep down a highly selfish, challak, silent self motivated operator. He is a very big compromiser as we saw during his captaincy and he will be no different as a coach, he will compromise to save his own *** and position. The welfare of Pakistan Cricket in the long run will be secondary compared to his own self interest.

In fact an investigation needs to be launched as to how has this ordinary player who really got into the team on a full time basis at the age of 32 been able to achieve so much status and influence in Pakistan Cricket since then over a period of ten plus years ahead of the likes of so many bigger players.

No point in advertising again. Whoever was interested had already applied possibly.
