Two years ago, this might have seemed like an unlikely proposition but this year, pretty much all the foreign players besides a select few have agreed to visit Pakistan. 8 games are scheduled to be in Lahore and Karachi. Even a star like AB de Villiers has agreed to go to Lahore.

One of the players who is yet to agree to visit Pakistan is Shane Watson. Last year also, he was one of the players to turn down the chance to play in Pakistan. As Quetta's highest run-scorer and second-highest wicket-taker, he was difficult to adequately replace for QG.

So, should franchises pick players such as Watson, and previously Pietersen (as an example, he's retired now)?

MashAllah so PSL is only in UAE because of Watson. Lol.

Do you think at the time of announcing the fixtures of season 4 PCB was sure that except Watson all the other players will agree to play in Pakistan?

I think Most of the players have shown their willingness to play in Pakistan after their selection by franchises, whereas PSL4's fixtures were announced earlier. Now that most of the players have agreed to play in Pakistan, PCB would be in a better position to hold the whole next season of PSL in Pakistan. If PCB decides to hold next season of PSL in Pakistan then the question in op doesn't arises

Exactly. More people are willing to go to Pakistan now so it makes sense

I don't think having the full PSL in Pakistan next year is likely. The logistical costs and requirements in terms of facilities will be enormous.

One of the main aims is to get international cricket back in Pakistan, so by picking players to play in the PSL who have no intention of going to Pakistan is shooting yourself in the foot.

its only watson this time, dont know why people are complaining over 1 player.
Remember season 2?

It is a big challenge but I feel it has to be done now. In terms of requirement I don't think PCB will be able arrange whole PSL here until PSL 7.

ABDV once he retired from SA is not the same star, he has become a has been player who is plying his trade for money like Gayle.

These players have to realize they become global stars based on their international exploits.Does anyone even know that this guy ABDV played in Bangla premier league or what ever it is called.

At end of every PSL we are told the same and then 'technicalities' step in for next PSL....

Which other players have declined to go to Pakistan?

So Watson has confirmed he won't be visiting Pakistan.

Must be annoying for his team mates.

Here's a guy getting paid well, a tournament that is trying to help in the return of international cricket to Pakistan and this guy is clearing-off as soon as the matches are due to go back to Pakistan.

In psl 1 i was of the belief that players shouldnt be forced to play in pakistan and they should be signed on this basis.

Then i saw the psl final where quetta were just terrible and had no idea as there core players didnt show up.

So if a player isnt coming to pakistan he shouldnt be selected. Not worth it

Yes, we should sign them. We aren't in the position to be turning down world class foreign cricketers when even as it is we manage to barely get 50 people at the games. It's called Empty Stadium League for a reason.

calm down, even bbl had empty seats

Yes, but BBL is played in Australia. If the PAKISTAN super league isn't played entirely in Pakistan, the last thing we can do is pick and choose which players play in our league

It's only common sense. Besides, there aren't many international super stars in world cricket these days so best thing to do for each franchise would be to focus on creating the best team combo with the available talent to play IN Pakistan.

I feel that Quetta Gladiators need to work very hard in convincing Watson to also attend the Pakistan leg of the tournament. He is in good form and will be a big loss to them, especially with the other opener not up to task!

His wife wont let him.

Quetta will end up in a mess again. Watson might get them to the next stage but whats the point when they will have to field an inferior player who won't have much game time
