I think he should. Its taking its toll on him. Its best to give the captaincy to someone else.

No, he is doing perfectly OK & can improve only from this (at least, can’t do worse than 0-2 & 0-3 against SRL & AUS in next 2 series). I want him to lead PAK against BD in the ICC Test Championship series, sometimes in early 2020. He must be backed and allowed to pick players of his choice for that series.

Lets wait for the WC. No point worrying about this right now

as Albert Einstein rightly said “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results”. You have to be fool to think under Sarfraz Pakistan will make any progress from here.

Yes he should step down or be sacked. He doesn’t make the team on merit. He has been exposed tactically. Inzi does select the squads but for someone who has played all his career in the UAE, he should known the importance of selecting specialist spinners. I don’t mind him playing as a player in tests , but not as captain.

He should take responsibility for the losses and resign from captaincy. I’m someone who believes that his captaincy is not that bad. The problem is his batting and fitness. People who believe changing the captain will change the results are in a for a reality check.

It won’t change results but you don’t keep a captain who is rubbish tactically and doesn’t make the team on merit.

I don't think so. because I don't see an adequate replacement that would be able to unify the team under his leadership.

I agree that he’s not a great tactician. He’s decent at best. Like Muhammad10 pointed out in another thread, he didn’t rotate his bowlers well enough in SA. He was giving more overs to the pacers seeing what the South African pacers did on those tracks. Poor tactic but I kind of get his way of thinking. Till the SA tour people here were saying that Pakistan has the best pace bowling attack. How can you blame him then? Same is the case with Yasir Shah’s selection. It made sense at the time. The bowlers looked unfit. But I have to say each one of them gave it their best.

I’m not ready to put the blame on him entirely for some of the field placements either. With such a fragile, selfish batting lineup there’s no way he can set aggressive fields. Every single guy in that middle order was batting for himself. Shafiq and Babar were very clearly eyeing that century. They were trying to somehow get there in a hurry. Good that they didn’t get it.

I agree with you on that merit part. He doesn’t deserve a place based on his performance with the bat or the gloves at the moment. But I don’t think Pakistan lost games because of his captaincy.

No amount of wishful thinking will change the fact that the PCB are mistaking retention for consistency.

He’s here to stay folks and you or I can’t do anything about it.

He just doesn't make the right decisions at the right time when it comes to bowling changes and field placements and he just shows no signs of improving or learning from his mistakes.

I think it would benefit his career if he did step down as Test captain.

It could also re-energise him as at the moment he looks stressed and tired.

All our issues aren't due to him of course. But you can't keep him as captain. Also his lack of communication doesn't help. He doesn't send good messages to his team mates and strikes no fear in the opposition.

Whoever said we had the best bowling attack in the world were wrong.

Step down? Should be sacked and removed as player from test side. Shouldnt be even allowed to make decision himself.

Yes he should. I don't think it will change our fortunes much in Tests, our problems run a lot deeper than his captaincy in 5 day cricket. But I think it will benefit him more as being captain in all 3 formats for him is clearly having a mental AND physical toll on him.

So far today, it seems that the lethargy from the skipper is moving into ODIs.

Should Sarfaraz Ahmed continue as Test captain?

I feel he should continue in ODI’s and T20’s after this world cup... but what about test cricket where Pakistan have been performing quite poorly recently?

He doesn't deserve a place in any format. Rubbish captain. And rubbish player.

Best captain since IK who couldn't even get us to the semis. Even Afridi who Sarfraz fans tell us is a rubbish captain got us to a WC semi final and Afrdi actually contributed towards that !!!!!

No thank you enough of this rubbish. Time to look for the future.

I would rather he plays LOI.
Happy for riwan/Shan/haris to be the test match captain

HE SHOULD BE OUT OF ODI AND T20I TEAMS. This should be a no-brainer.

I am ok with him in Test team as captain.

HELL NO! HE should be gone froms Tests the most!! Good t2o captain, mediocre ODI Capt. And garbage test captain.

Afridi was on fire during that tournament.

Anyways, Sarfraz has been 3-1-9 since his appointment and he’s played more than half of those at home!

He’s terrible but his blind supporters will defend him to the death because he was born in a particular city.

I am with you on this one. I am a sarfi fan but i can see that Sarafaz has a much better understanding of LOI's than tests . In tests we need a Mibah-esque captain .

F NOOO!!!!

This is the first format he should be sacked from!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has he even won us a single test series with his T20 Captaincy in the Test format?

His test captaincy is much worse than his ODI captaincy.

He's been a bad captain in Test cricket.

Pakistan need a new captain in the longest format.

I don't understand the defence of him. Simply not good enough and has been given way too long.
