Should Shoaib Malik retire from T20Is?

Shoaib Malik has done quite well in t20s recently, but he will be close to 39 years old come to the next t20 WC. Would it not be better to invest the time till then on other players? Plus he has already won a t20 world cup, no one can take that away from him.

I understand why he wants to play in the ODI WC, and while I'm very sceptical about his performances in tournaments, at least Malik conducts himself in a way that befits a senior player and overall his performances have been relatively good since his return. He should devote everything to nailing down his spot for that tournament.

Hence, I personally think this coming series vs WI is a great opportunity for him to retire in at least one format in front of a home crowd.

Few months ago despite failing in NZ, i still wanted Malik to be in the team bcz i thought pak needed him but i think it's time for him to retire from International cricket, there are some good middle order bats in Pakistan and they need to be introduced ASAP so that they are ready for World Cup.
After CT17 win, it was best time gor Hafeez and Malik to retire but they missed on that opportunity.

The guy struggles to clear inner circle and was owned by Afridi on his last legs. I don't think Hafeez and Malik have any game left. They are finished.

Hafeez and Malik both had plus point of playing spin well which is why people prefererred them over young players but this PSL edition has exposed this myth that they are best spin players. Agha Salman, Hussain and Asif are even better. Time to invest in young players.

What I like so much about PSL is that it exposes our seniors and selectors!

I am not saying the likes of talat, asif, farhan etc are world beaters but they for sure deserve a place in the squad.

Hafeez is a chocker anyways, hope he gets dropped for good!

I think it’s time for him to give up playing international cricket. I think he could be a good coach. Seems like a good thinker of the game.

That's his bread and butter till he's 40+. He's not going away anywhere from the LOI side....his fitness and professionalism have ensured him a spot at least till the WC. Mickey tried to play him at 5 or 6 in England and it didn't work so he's basically hogging the #4 spot. Still not a bad option but you can't really have Hafeez in the same team.

I think the time is right. He should still stay in the ODI side, as he strikes the ball terrifically well.

We can save him for the minnows in the WC... he’s world class against them.

Needs to get going before the 2019 WC'. He is a liability in ENG, NZ, AUS, SA... basically anywhere where you can move the ball a centimeter at high pace.

T20s should be used for new players. I think his time as an international cricket is done.

Good player, who has served Pakistan well and been a great example to youngsters for having sound all-round fundamentals. There are now better options, or at least options with more potential (particularly in the aggression department) in terms of spinners and batters and perhaps even fielders - Malik was certainly a player that improved our fielding standards.

I'll also remember some of his contributions - not least (somewhat obscure maybe) him and Zulfi saving the first test against England in 2015 - when it literally became a T20 chase.
