I see the Trump Sahib has turned punishing media which he considers to be putting out fake news into an art but given what happened in the the whole Malik/Sania/Pak Players shisha/burger saga, do you feel there is need to bring such media outlets to justice and impose strict penalties on them? Or are they doing their job, part of which is to sensationalize issues?

Fake news should be punished be it of any sort political or non political and Geo should be tried first and foremost for it. Champion of fake news!!!

Get real.

The war on Iraq in 2003 was fake news all over. Where was the punishment? There was none.

Also lets not confuse fake with sensationalism. Was Malik out before the match? Yes. Was he out 8 hours before the match? No.

Yes, media which prints lies should be punished. One of the oldest Judao-Christian rules is Do Not Bear False Witness.

There should be some repercussions - cannot go unpunished.

Absolutely, no second though about it. Spreading fake news should be treated as a criminal offense and heavy fines and punishments should be levied on the media outlets who spread fake news and you have them in tons in Pakistan and India ..

Yes, DAWN and Geo have been at it since last 2 years to protect their masters only to give feeble apologies by then the damage has already been done.

Every single media outlet, across the globe, comply to National Security department. Fake news is a price for that. A free mind can decipher Fake vs Real news.
last two decades anyway have been era of disinformation.

Like , I said in my previous post , no body is above the law and there should be no holy cows in a democratic society. In Democracy every one has a common share , be it rights, duties or accountability.

They wouldn’t be around if people were not this dumb. The point is anyone can say anything on tv and no one even questions them ever. Plus how can you stop this fake news if people actually love hearing it. Just watch how many followers cartoons like Amir liaqut or Yayha Husseini have. People love listening about mirch masala and no one wants to hear scholarly work that’s balanced and researched.

No doubt about it. Media should be given the highest form of punishment.

Yes. Media outlets need to be held accountable for they do and don't publish. It is so much obvious that media outlets across the world have a bias towards one or the other which completely destroys the whole point of fare journalism IMO.

What some don't realize is that the legal system in developing countries is super slow and corrupt.

So political party in power will foist cases on channels they don't like and penalize them.

The ONLY solution for this is to have a strong legal system in place which can't be influenced by politicians.

After that, such moves can work.

I agree with the sentiment but don't think it's practical to penalize them as of now.
