Pakistan's win loss ratio against the top 6 teams is less than 0.5.

Pakistan have played 18 bilateral series with these teams in the time frame and have managed to win only 5 and an asia cup in 2012. `

Absolutely. There is no chance Pakistan is going to have a genuine impact vs any of the top teams. Heck, Pakistan can't even win against lower ranked teams. I expect them to lose 4 times out 10 to Afghanistan too. No solid opening pair, no middle order and no finishers. Doomed. Doooooomed.

Why not
we've been playing 90's style Cricket...
Haven't won any substantial series in a while...
Our captain was utterly Pathetic and slow....
was the Worst decision to appoint Azhar Ali as captain..
Bowling has been pathetic as well because they've been giving a lot of runs lately...

Overall we're still better than the likes of India, Sr Lanka, New Zealand, England. If we're minnows, what do you call them?

Pakistan is definitely not a minnows side.

Pakistan is a cricket mad nation who are unfortunately going through a bad patch.

Pakistan will bounce back

Zimbabwe is a minnows nation. Interest in game in that part of the world is fast dwindling. There were several games in the domestic league whereby teams played with less 11 players as its difficult to get 11 players to represent the game

Hahahahahah they'll all beat you like a bug... Even you can't win a series against this new Sri Lanka and you talk about India, NewZealand and England...

Oh really? I admit that last 6-7 years we had a bad time (but we still beat good teams on our days). The new Pakistan team is shaping into a great unit. Babar, Sarfi, Amir, Haris, Shadab, and hopefully Sharjeel will pull us out from slump.

For historical reasons, Pakistan won't be labelled a minnow yet, but I can see top sides not taking them as seriously.

But it's not about future it's about what we've done so far that's this thread is all about... And by the recent experiences we are a minnow team..

The stats may say otherwise but we fought as well as other 'top teams' in the last year or so. India haven't won a single game the last time they toured Australia (even against England in the tri series). We won an ODI in Australia. If India isn't a minnow, Pakistan definitely isn't. We also won a T20I in New Zealand and India at best drew a single ODI.

As I keep saying Misbah's era should be called our dark ages for ODIs. The worst phase in history by miles.

Hahaha :)) India freakin won Champions Trophy in England... I'm a Pakistani as well but that doesn't mean we are better than India...
The love for the country shouldn't hide the fact that we've been performing poorly and a by far have become a minnow team...
Let Sarfaraz win few games and few series then talk about the path we are going to chose..
Untill we start Winning continuously we are a minnow team..

Include Azhar Ali as well both are brilliant when it comes to tests but they are equally pathetic when it comes to limited overs..

who recommended Azhar? And the damage Misbah did especially with the timid and defensive approach towards batting will take some time to recover especially for players who played under him.

Pakistan always had a team who could surprise you and win against anyone.. But now it seems that is not the case anymore, that tag West Indies has taken over from Pakistan..

Definitely not a minnow. However they lack the extra edge that other teams have. There is a strong group of players but they don't go well together.

Issue lies in fitness. If you see Pakistan and Lankan players they are so poor when it comes to fitness. But Bangladesh NZ for example look much leaner and fitter.

no it's about skills as well.

No, they aren't. They are easily better than Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, West Indies and New Zealand. And just below the likes of India(a bit overrated) and England(terrible bowling lineup). They can beat top sides on their day, which they showed in Australia whereas the likes of Bangladesh get pummeled outside their home, like recently in NZ.

One thing I noticed on this forum is, Pakistani fans seem to be the most pessimistic when it comes to their cricket team; being overly dramatic by coming up with posts like these every now and then.

Any team can beat any other team on their days but when this happens once in three matches then you definitely are a very weak team.

Soon enough we can be on a level where teams can beat us with their B sides.

I think it is reasonable to be pessimistic when your team has been ranked alongside minnows for nearly 3 years. What is your criteria to justify pessimism?

Koi shuk?

Playing 90's cricket 20 years later.
When the time for 90's cricket was required, we had individuals (W&W, Anwar, Saqi, Inzi yadda, yadda, yadda) to pull us through.

Now however, we have a pathetic crop playing a brand of cricket that expired 20 years ago.

The lauded "Pakistani bowling attack" - LOL.

5 years of Misbah and Misbah 2.0

Thank you sirs what would we ever do without you.

:salute

As long as we have 'Haal' power, we'll never be a minnow !

Samiuddin is not going to save the odi team. Our odi team has been quite behaal. The last odi win of note (as in when it mattered and not when we had already lost the series) was the World Cup victory against South Africa

This ct could be a painful tournament for you to follow

Won't be more painful than 2013. When Kaptaan Misbah drove us to the edge of minnow-ship.

Also if you support the cricket team rather than your favorites then it should be painful for you too, unfortunately that is not the case. You must be praying day and night for us to do bad so that you can put down Sarfaraz even though he has wiped the floor with Misbah 2.0 since taking up the captain's armband.

No. I have been pretty clear from day 1:
- sarfaraz is a poor odi player
- he is a poor wicket keeper
- his test batting form has taken a nose dive for the last 18 months
- and I don't think he is an upgrade on previous captains
- he has earned his opportunity to captain and he is also going to have the chance to play test cricket mostly at home for the next 12 months

If he does well, I will be humbled, if not I will come to gloat on the forum.
Clear?

Yes ,you are better than most teams and that's why on 9th rank for quite a while. Delusional heights

You won a match against Australia full-strength side in Australia, which is quite an achievement given that the last time, off the top of my head, Aussies losing with their full team was just before World cup against South Africa(Aus won that series 4-1). Pakistan is moving in the right direction with Sarfraz taking over captaincy. You've got a few match-winners in your side and can only go up from here. Rankings don't tell the whole picture; they are among top 5 sides currently.

They were no.1 in tests not long ago, which is still the premier format of cricket. Australia were ranked 8(?) in T20s, but Australians or anyone else didn't make a hue and cry by labeling them minnows. Because everyone knew Australia didn't deserve that position and were actually a much much better side than what rankings put them at. Pakistan is similar to Australia in that aspect. Skill wise, potential-wise they stand at 5th for me after Australia, South Africa, India, England.

This isn't a popularity poll. He asked a question based on stats of their winning ratio

Special treat awaiting for you to witness his captaincy in CT

As compared to Bangladesh who've won only three good series in BD in their history and have received hammering after hammering in the last year. Also failed to win against SL :))

Laughable comparison. T20 format internationally is a joke, so are the rankings. It was not taken seriously because there were hardly any international T20 matches.

ODIs are different. Pakistan has been ranked below Bangladesh for years now... is this not something deserving pessimism? No offense, but you really do sound deluded here.

Less than 2 years* not years. And its more or less level, had we won an extra game vs WI we'd leapfrogged them.

Live with could have, would have, should have....

The point was, the gap between rankings is almost negligible where one game here or there can move teams up and down instead of more than one series. So I am surprised why you're prancing about considering how poor BD has played in ODIs since the SA series.
