Just like England had Andrew Strauss as the Director of the English Cricket team, why doesn't Pakistan have a Director for its Cricket team.

I wonder what is the role of the Director? This was one of Waqar's Recommendations in his report submitted to the PCB

I think we need a director of domestic cricket instead. The director of the national team can only do so much when the players are not very good.

Nothing seems to be happening with our domestic structure. The state of it has been terrible for decades now and they still haven’t done anything about it after how bad our team has gotten.

I think given some of the wicket-taking celebrations, the facial expressions etc - they definitely need a Director :)

I think PCB rather than invest all that power and authority into one person have decided to share it amongst this Cricket Committee instead.

If you look at the stated functions of this Cricket Committee, they're exactly what you'd expect a Director of Cricket to oversee:

Cricket Committee ToRs:

Review of the plans for promotion and conduct of game of cricket at all levels.
a) Formulate playing conditions for domestic matches.
b) Oversee appointment of Selection Committees.
c) Oversee appointment of National Team Coaches.
d) Meet with Chief Selector and Coach (Men, Women & Junior) three times a year.
e) Review plans for the development of umpires, referees and curators.
f) Receive annual assessment of performance from Management on umpires & referees.
g) Preparation and quality of pitches.
h) Condition of playing facilities (dressing rooms, practice facilities including net wickets)
i) Give views on any other matter referred by the Chairman PCB.
