Sindh (141/2) cruise to an 8-wicket over KPK (140) to win the National T20 Cup

Saim is the type of players Pakistan need more coming up. Not only can he play proper cricketing shots, but also unorthodox ones like lap sweeps that you need for T20's & ODI's.

Been boosting him up all tournament and what a development he has been. Outstanding to watch and I hope he has a great FC season. Feels like a player who can get fast tracked to the ODI side.

Yeah there are many viable names for emerging player this time round:

Kpk: ihsanullah
Northern: Mehran Mumtaz, Mubasir?, Zaman Khan
Central Punjab: Qasim, Irfan Niazi maybe Ali Afsand
South Punjab: ??
Sindh: Saim Ayub, Zeeshan Zameer
Balochistan: Bangalzai, Haseebullah ( don’t think they’re ready for PSL, but would be good to have Balochi representation)

Here’s hoping the majority of these lads get picked

Haseebullah should he back up keeper to Rizwan in Tests.

Please get Saud into the Test team already. Lovely shot and great to watch.

That backfoot punch earlier was awesome. Does seem to have a habit of soft dismissals though.

T20 isn't his format, and maybe not ODIs either although he was discarded too quickly. His Test debut is overdue.

That Sharjeel dismissal was awful. Played all over a ball expecting to go away, big gap between bat and pad. Was lucky not to have been out earlier too.

Saim Ayub playing a good hand here, but Central Punjab's fielding has been horrendous.

CP are fumbling in the field almost every over. The standard of domestic fielding is appalling.

It's not like they're fumbling under pressure in front of a packed crowd either.

It's disappointing these domestic games don't have speed guns and I am not sure why they don't other than PCB not wanting to spend money for it.

Will be interesting to see Daniyal's pace in PSL because it does seems like he is pretty quick now. Still leaky sometimes but could be interesting if he can figure out line & length.

Fielding overall has been good in terms of catches and there's been some spectacular ones but seen a lot of singles turned into 2's with bad throws, overthrows & missed fielding.

Thought Saim had a 6 off the bat but just a bit short. That sucks and a huge blow to Sindh's chances of winning.

A lot of the main players were playing in Asia Cup & in leagues around the world.

Positive thing about that is young players getting opportunities when they wouldn't. Some attendance during Multan leg of the tour too during day/night matches.

Central Punjab absolutely smashing Sindh in the powerplay. It's all a bunch of aerial shots that aren't all that risky due to fielders being within the ring. An approach Pakistan needs to adapt.

The scheduling during the first leg was pretty weird. Starting the first match at 9am and second one at 2pm.

Yeah, I wasn't a fan of that. I am not sure why they did that. Lighting issues in Pindi?

But its a big reason why there wasn't much crowd during the Pindi leg and why Multan crowd has been decent.

It was done to avoid conflicting with the Asia Cup matches in the evening.

Initial matches matches in Multan had the same schedule as Pindi.

Evening matches began from 12th September the day after the Asia Cup final.

Tense finish here.

No shortage of drama with missed runouts, a dodgy caught behind call, ebbs and flows.

Umpire Zameer Haider needs to banned for life.

For his sake I hope he's either being biased or up to something dodgy, if not it's atrocious how incompetent he is.

Maybe that's why he was sacked from being an international umpire in 2013.

Sindh & KPK in the finals. Should be a good one.

I wish Sindh had Abrar for the finals.

The guy was blatantly cheating and biased against Sind

Sindh through to the final.

That penultimate over proved decisive. Big celebrations from the players in front of a decent crowd.

Should have had the final today or yesterday rather than on a Monday. Anyway, looking forward to a great game tomorrow!

The hundred by Sharjeel lifted Sindh when they were in the dumps!

Go on to lift the cup tomorrow boys!

Anwar Ali should have stopped bowling ages ago and just focused on his batting.

He has amazing natural hitting ability and could've become a proper t20 star if he had focused more on his batting.

PCB should take note. Don't expect this from someone who's umpired at the international level.

Surprising since Pakistani umpires usually go above and beyond giving decisions against Pakistani players to prove they aren't bias.

Apart from one hundred Sharjeel hasn’t had a good tournament. But I hope he does well in the final. Really want Sindh to win the tournament just to break the monotony of kpk winning cups after cups. On paper Sindh does not deserve to win the final, but stranger things have happened in the past. Fingers crossed.

An unbeaten 42-run partnership off just 18 balls from Anwar Ali and Omair Bin Yousuf helped Sindh beat Central Punjab by five wickets in the second semi-final of Kingdom Valley National T20 2022-23 at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Sunday evening.

The win also means Sindh – qualifying for the final of the National T20 for the first time since the inception of new domestic structure, will take on defending champions Khyber Pakhtunkhwa tomorrow at the same venue.

Requiring 25 runs from two overs to win in pursuit of 180-run target, right-handed Anwar dispatched Ahmed Daniyal for three sixes and a four to collect 24 runs in the penultimate over. He returned undefeated on a 13-ball 32, studded with two fours and three sixes. Omair Bin Yousuf – who struck the winning six with four balls to spare scored an unbeaten 51 off 36, hitting four fours and one six.

Central Punjab’s Usama Mir bagged two wickets for 30 runs – both wickets in the 11th over of the innings which included the prized scalp of Sindh’s opening batter Saim Ayub who looked dangerous before getting out scoring a 24-ball 46, smashing four sixes and three fours.

Earlier, the decision to bat first from Qasim Akram paid dividends as Central Punjab’s opening batters went berserk from the start and scored 77 runs in the powerplay – the most runs in this edition. Wicketkeeper-batter Muhammad Akhlaq was the first one to return to the pavilion in the seventh over not before scoring 28 off 15 balls, which included four towering sixes. The pair of Akhlaq and Mohammad Faizan knitted a 78-run partnership off 38 balls.

Faizan didn’t stop there and continued to play big shots and brought up Central Punjab’s 100 in the 10th over – the fastest 100 of the ongoing tournament. Faizan top-scored for his side, scoring 52 off 31 balls and smoked six fours and three sixes at a staggering strike rate of 167.74. Qasim (25, 18b, three fours) and experienced Shoaib Malik (nine off 10, one four) failed to make an impact in Central Punjab’s batting and went in quick succession.

That the Central Punjab were able to score 179 for eight in 20 overs was due to Irfan Khan Niazi’s unbeaten knock of 36 from 27 balls, which included two fours and as many sixes.

Sindh’s Zahid Mehmood was the most successful bowler for his side with match figures of 4-0-20-4.

Scores in brief:

Sindh beat Central Punjab by five wickets

Central Punjab 179-8, 20 overs (Mohammad Faizan 52, Irfan Khan Niazi 36 not out, Muhammad Akhlaq 28, Qasim Akram 25; Zahid Mehmood 4-20)

Sindh 185-5, 19.2 overs (Omair Bin Yousuf 51 not out, Saim Ayub 46, Anwar Ali 32 not out; Usama Mir 2-30)

Player of the match – Omair Bin Yousuf and Zahid Mehmood (Sindh)

Exactly! That 8 he scored today also went a long way in eating into that 180 in a knockout game!

Hope they win tomorrow!

Anwar Ali hits the ball cleaner than Khushdil and Ifti

Yes at domestics. We have seen how good he was at international. His bowling is as awful as it gets. Though still an excellent fielder and his swing across the line won’t work in international as we found out already.

The final begins.

And what a crazy start. Boundary followed by a wicket. Sohail Khan getting new ball to swing.

Zameer Haider sends Kamran Ghulam on his way. Looked to be going down leg ?

Sohail getting extravagant movement.

Why is Zameer Haider standing in this match?.He is one of the worst umpires in Pakistan.

A 38 years old Sohail Khan too much for the youngsters?

KPK trying to counterattack despite loss of 3 wickets so far.

Sindh’s game to lose now

3 wickets in the powerplay is pretty much 55% of the game in the bowling side’s favour

2 dreadful LBWs decisions by the umpire. How are batsman going to learn to play if we have clowns as umpires

Rehan Afridi

Another one in the long list of Tuk Tuk T20 openers in Pakistan cricket

KPK surprisingly lost the Pakistan Cup final earlier this year to Balochistan, and so far Sindh are containing them here.

Is the KPK era of dominance ending ?

It would be great to see how Saim and Saud fare against Ihsanullah.

Both of the batsmen are struggling with the bounce these bowlers are producing.

Neither opener has looked convincing, but KPK pacers overdoing it with the short stuff and conceding a lot of wides.

Sohail Khan was class today

Bowling full and straight asking questions

What is this pathetic bowling by KPK?

Saim Cheetah!

InshaAllah this boy will have a huge following!

Kya baat hai yar!

Openers have done the job in 4 overs

Run a ball required now for the remaining 9 players to manage. Love you boys!

KPK missing the trick by not bowling a dolly off spinner to these left handers

KPK missing the trick by not bowling a dolly off spinner to these left handers

Yep especially with these two openers enjoying pace on the ball. Adil Amin is an offie who could've been given an over.

Jeeeew oyeee jeeelaaaaa!!

6 to the best pacer of the Pakistan cup!!!

Saim has a lot of swagger... Sharjeel, on the other hand, has eaten a lot of pies...

Kadd Chota hai lekin Martaba bohot Bara ho gaya hai

-legendary Urdu commentator!

Soft dismissal

But the boy has done his job

Less than a run a ball needed

Saim hit that a bit too straight instead of square and is out.

Well played and Sindh are pretty much a lock to win it at this point.

MIG can we please get a clip of that 6 Sharjeel hit Ihsanullah

What a shot!

Arshad IQBAL has improved his fitness and fielding

He is looking like a beast!

Saud needs to calm down with his running

Sharjeel Khan is at the other end
