Not comparing (would be the last person to make such tall claims) but Hammad is in the mould of Mathews. He has a similar skill-set and I think he is an ideal number 6 of ODIs. Capable of hanging around and anchoring the innings, as well providing the oomph at the death. The sort of player who would be useful coming in at 50/4 in 15 overs, as well as at 200/4 in 40 overs.

I do't understand the fetish with Bhatti and Anwar, both are garbage.

Hammad isn't a very good bowler, but I think he'll be decent enough with time. In the few matches he has played for Pakistan, he has done well with the bat and has consolidated (in difficult conditions in WI with the top order failing and Asia Cup Final) as well hit some lusty blows (T20 vs England etc).

Should have been persisted with.

Don't worry guys, this was just a warm-up. We were without Ajmal and Junaid, and hopefully, both will play the actual games (I'm pretty sure Ajmal will at least play the 1st and maybe even the 2nd ODI. Didn't hear anything about him not starting.).

At least we managed to score 295 in just 46.2 overs.

Hafeez, Shehzad, Afridi, Misbah, Younus, and even Fawad did get runs, which is good. Talha picked up a couple of wickets. Hafeez was superb.

Pak can make any 15 men from their squad bat and or bowl. They can make all their batsmen bat and all their bowlers bowl, no one cares about rules about substitutions during practice matches. Pak isn't playing vs English Country teams, they are playing vs SLC farm team, they don't care about substitutes.

Oh acha, that 11th man was Anwar Ali, it seems.
