So he's being castigated by one and all but he gets picked for a high-profile league by none other than a Pakistan based owner.

Would you say its a small victory for Umar? Now even if PCB punish him for his behaviour, he can point to Benoni Zalmi as an example of people who trust him more than the PCB!

Think good day for Akmal today.

Was it possible for the PCB to prevent any of the teams from picking Umar Akmal? if they had influence in that regard they should have exercised it

I dont think there is that angle at all but my point was more from a Pakistan point of view. Surely Zalmi etc work with PCB and PCB should have asked them to punish the player or show some unity.

Like I said - victory for him and we should hear from him on this soon.

Good for Akmal, but I don't get your point.

He did some pretty stupid things recently and rightly deserves to be criticized by everyone. That has nothing to do with him being selected a domestic league in SA

What's with this vengeful attitude from Pak fans? I am no fan of U Akmal and despise his entitled attitude.

KP did far-worse than what Akmal has done. ECB chucked him out, didn't try to steal away his earning ability elsewhere though.

Akmal won't last long if he shows the same tantrums and attitude towards practice and fitness in such leagues anyway because here he is a foreign player and more responsible than a local player.

Exactly.

No such thing I'm afraid...

If it were an independent PCB, free from political influence and free from corruption then maybe yes it could be seen as some sort of endorsement for him..

Whilst corruption remains there will always been an Akmal or the like either in club cricket, first class cricket or even in the international team..

good that the Zalmis didnt play politics.

Umar Akmal and PCB is a different matter,

Umar should not be allowed to participate in the PSL as well, hope he just rots away. He is more Indian then Pakistani, a disgrace and one big sharamful

You really do make some ridiculous posts. What's going on with akmal and the PCB and him being selected Ina foreign league are to diametrically opposed entities. Also your statement about him being more Indian then Pakistani is so childish and illogical.

The ECB tried to do everything in their power to thwart KP but KP's PR machine and Piers Morgan ensured that the ECB didn't know whether they were coming or going.

If he was Indian he would actually score some runs.

Yes it is a victory for Umer
and message to PCB, Waqar, Mickey and anti-umer camp.

Umer should focus on these T20 leagues and keep himself fit, and eventually he would be selected as regular...he should call Malik for advice..as similar thing happened to Malik...

Lol this might seem like a victory for akmal now but it will be all doom and gloom for him when he keeps getting caught at midwicket in that league.

Malik became fat and then ran to the media claiming that the coach 'abused' him after he failed seven consecutive fitness tests? :13:

He'll just be proving them right with his crappy performances.

Malik was also mistreated by pcb...and when he was picked they sent him so low that there was slim chance for him to prove anything and eventually you lose self confidence. . Similar things happening with umer, there is clearly an anti akmal group functioning.Mickey just does not want him even to practice...while just recently umer was picked captain for punjab. .

Anti Umar Akmal group?! Huh??

He failed the fitness tests 7(!!) times, and averages 31 in ODIs since 2012
Then he has the audacity to go to the chief selector to complain about his training time

He absolutely deserves everything he's getting. There's no anti-umar Akmal lobby, except for himself

If this is what a victory looks like, even if one can call it that, everyone should feel bad for the Zlami's, they will be dealing with someone who is more of a diva than a player and twice the player of average fit individuals at that :-)

We all know how he has been staying relevant all these years...anyhow, as long as this has been stays far far away from the Pak team...I don't care how many such victories he notches along the way with his drop specialist bro

He went for training...flower told him that he was not a centrally contracted player so he cannot train him, umer said "but you are training salman butt for last ten days and salman is not centrally contracted player"...grant told umer that umer knew who had forbade him about training umer.

It's clear that there is an anti umer group.

I hope there is a 'group' or 'conspiracy' against every player who doesn't perform and keeps failing fitness tests.

there is an anti-akmal group? lol

If he was Indian he would actually score some runs.

ECB did everything which is why he was allowed to play county cricket? IPL? PSL? CPL?

All ECB did was shut the door for England team for which they had every right but they didn't stoop low to shut his opportunities elsewhere for which they could have easily wielded their power bar IPL probably.

Read his autobiography. They even tried to shunt him from that MCC vs RoW XI match but he prevailed in the end.

At home :kohli

And when Umar Akmal writes an autobiography I'm sure everything stated in there will be perfectly true... The ECB could easily have withdrawn his NOCs and there wouldn't be much at all he could do about it.

Unless you were present there, I would not take the words of these serial liars...these two brothers have the habit of making things up and switching from 'Bhai to Villian to Bhai' on the drop of a coin

The coaching staff at the PCB have the right to refuse training to anyone who's not a centrally contracted player. It's not fair, but that's just the way it is

I'm not sure there is as much a anti-Akmal group, perhaps Mickey doesn't like him but who can blame him...

He has always been a decent t20 player and a draw for t20 franchises. It's not a victory for him at all.

But they need to be consistent in their refusal.

Just like I suggested before 'Unless you were present in person', I would recommend you don't take sides with players that are well known for making up things out of thin air or twisting the facts!

Small Victory? will be great if he plays any part in Team Victory. Will be a failure here also FOR SURE!! 'll be dropped after 1-2 games. After the tournament ll come out saying Zalmi did injustice gave only 2 games player needs a season or two to settle down :rp

But they need to be consistent in their refusal.

Why?

This is the coaching staff- if they see someone as a potential future candidate for selection, someone who's working hard and has promise, they absolutely should be spending and investing more time in him

if they see someone who's been given many many chances before, and continues not to make any improvements, why should they keep wasting their time with this person?

Cause people of integrity would be consistent.

If they see the potential in someone, they just can be upfront with Umer and do not present "centrally contracted player" as a basis of refusal.
