Sarfaraz Ahmed loses Tests and now goes into ODIs with that loss as baggage. No matter how much he says he doesnt care, fact is he is effected and is under pressure already.

Of course the converse is also true ie the confidence he would have in his own abilities if he had won the Test but destructive thoughts are always more powerful

Lets see how Sarfraz manages in this game

Doesn't that happen all over the world?

A mentally demolished captain walks into another format - not sure if this is such a great idea

I dunno why I get this implication that alot of PP'ers are not in favor of one captain across all formats. I mean if it was Azhar Ali then it would be a different story

i felt sarfraz should have captained ODI and T20 and let any other captain Test may be shafiq or azhar

If a series loss 'mentally demolishes' a captain, then why have that guy as captain in any format?

If he had won the series 2-0 he would be walking with confidence with shehzad in team.. its about how one look at the situation. Its either good or bad.

Problem is not captain but players don't have the skill to perform in test cricket just look babar azam but in ODI sarfaraz has best variety of bowlers in the world

Sarfaraz should nt be the test captain. He panicks a little too early. Test cricket is all about nerves, the blu der he made of not opening in the first test is u forgettable.

People have doubted sarfraz since day one

Give him time he will come good again

I know some people have a soft spot for Azhar but he has shown himself to be an inept captain who abandons ship when things go tough and hides in the field

Let him bat

Thread isnt about Sarfaraz per se; its about the idea of one captain and the possible disadvantage

Can't definitively say yes or no to the question of having one captain across formats. It depends on the captain and his personality makeup. If you're talking about Sarfraz specifically, then my answer is a resounding NO. Sarfraz's temperament doesn't match up to Test cricket when it comes to being a captain. A captain in Test matches has to remain patient for long periods of time. We have seen time and again Sarfraz getting agitated by something so minute as a small misfield. Whenever there is a long partnership, you can see on his face that he's getting rattled. Not a good trait of a captain. A captain in Test cricket has to be mentally so strong that no situation fazes him. Sarfraz unfortunately does not fit the bill.

However, I back Sarfraz 100% to be the captain in ODI and T20 because those formats require lots of energy which Sarfraz possesses in abundance. His captaincy performance has also shone through in the smaller formats of the game.

Why should we limit it to only captains? Why not different teams for different formats? Let the team start with a clean slate.

Captains have to lead from the front
