So what's the plan to bring in crowds for the PSL?

I read BBL releases with interest where they give solid verifiable figures of crowds/viewership.

I would like similar from PCB

But here is the problem.

They may not get the crowds that they would hope for so they have to put in some elbow grease.

Basically, check with all Pak schools in Dubai and Sharjah and offer them some incentives to send their kids to the games etc

Free transport, T-shirts, Caps, competition for 40-50 lucky ones to meet some of the top stars etc

Basically we need to something different to market and make it popular in UAE

The tournament moving to Pak in whole is a pipe-dream and not happening for a few years as the PSL cannot be without foreign players in all games.

So what's the plan PCB? Having some big singer perform in the opening ceremony is great for TV screens but we need to get the local supporters in the stadiums for ALL games.

If the product is good, tickets affordable and cheap transport available then people will come.

The first issue is a big IF. Nobody wants to watch a T20 where teams are crawling to 110-120 on unprepared, raging turners like the first half of the PSL last year.

number of Pakistani families not that high in UAE, the one who are there are already contributing whenever they can. Keep in mind, they get to see most of stars in action anyway throughout year.

I remember how they turned around the Silverstone GP into a success.

PCB needs to create a carnival atmosphere which people would like to come and enjoy. Kids play area, plenty of merchandise, food stalls etc... Also ensure affordability at every point, cheap tickets, nominally priced stalls, special family packages etc...

They also need to use the local media to good effect....people need to feel like an event is in town.

I am sure most people in the ME have access to their own transport. Also get some famous faces celebrities into the venue, SE Asians love their celebrities. I am sure PM sahib can turn up for a couple of games.

Free transport to the ground sounds like a good idea...but the cost of that should be shared by the organizers and teams. Giving a certain amount of fans accessibility to the players before or after a game is also a good idea...this should help in providing a better fan experience. Something like kids under 10 being free isn't a bad idea as well.

Wont get thousands over. There is a huge Pakistan population in Dubai.

Literally thousands of cricket mad kids who wont come to the stadium as they dont have transport or parents cannot spare money for tickets.

Yeah well, but again, will get better crowd compared to last year. Many don't travel abroad due to high cost of living and eating, this takes care of it. And also give tickets of 4 to 5 games, 4 to 5 days. So even if attracts hundreds, it will have succeed
And as for transport, Dubai metro is highly efficient and cheap. also tickets are not that expensive either. It about having time, And outside weekend, not many people have that.

The teams will want to build their team with T20 specialists from around the world. They don't see Bangladesh or Afghanistan players in that sense. Obviously they will want to build the team that looks strong and not necessarily one which will attract crowd.

UAE Indians don't get to see their players in action generally also IPL has bollywood power,people keep forgetting bollywood is big in GCC and most of them associate themselves with IPL.

That was the reason for the success of IPL in UAE.

I am sure that is the case. But that was not my point. What I am trying to say is that if the Indian daily wage laborers can show up for games then why not Pakistanis? They are both in similar economic situations.

need to run shuttle service multiple central locations all the way to the stadium. Buses should leave every 30 minutes. and of course cheap tickets.

The Dubai and Abu Dhabi stadiums are in the middle of nowhere. All of PSL should actually be held in Shrajah, the only place where you can get a crowed

Basically you should only have games in Dubai on Thur-Sat evenings. Rest should be Sharjah. Need to keep ticket prices low especially in Sharjah. Even then don't expect grounds to be more than 50% full other than the odd weekend match.
