Sohail Khan just doesn't seem to be rated by the selectors in the shorter formats despite his performances in PSL and elsewhere. His fitness is not conducive to the five-day game while his batting could come in handy down the order yet he's ignored.

Good decision to look to the future by selecting other, younger players or injustice?

I feel it would be better to play him in the shorter formats than in Test cricket.

awful

and before one person talks about fitness, please note that the legendary athlete Sohail Tanvir has been picked

Can't believe it. Sohail Khan deserves to be in. He is the best bowler in my opinion. Even in tests he has bowled well better then Amir and others. Agree his fitness ain't great but don't select him for Tests then. But he showed he can bowl 4 overs at his best in PSL. He is a must in T20 and ODIs. Can hit a few too at times.
And anyone saying look for the future then why is Kamran Akmal back. Is he the future?
Why one rule for one and different for another.

if fitness is an issue that fair enough, but apply the standard evenly

Sohail Tanvir looks like he is going to die each time he plays a game, was poor in the PSL as well but he gets picked

Sohail Khan has much better fitness level than Sohail Tanvir. The latter don't even bend to field to the ball. If they were to select an unfit player, atleast should have selected the right Sohail.

Sohail Khan is our best LOI pacer+batsman.

HOW CAN YOU NOT SELECT HIM Mickey Arthur! Trust me, Mickey HATES Sohail Khan. And he must have veto'd his selection.

Here we have Arthur making horrendous decisions. His love for Hafeez and Malik knows no bounds. How on earth he recalled Hafeez to Australia, and has said in the past how important Malik is.

This is what we have in Mickey - MMHS Slog Junaids

Funny thing:
Mickey Arthur hates Sohail Khan for his Test fitness, but has OKAY'd the selection of Sohail Tanvir in LOIs. :harby

This only tells me there are some serious underlying issues with Sohail that are obvious to Mickey and Inzi.

Tanvir is a good T20 prospect because of his novelty. Sohail is a type of bowler that needs to pitch it up, but that doesn't suit T20. T20 is probably the safest format where you can hide one or two Tanvirs in fielding, therefore it's not that bad selection, compared to MoHa being picked to play at 4.

In ODI, Sohail should have been PAK regular from 2009 - by this time he could have been a 15/90 ODI batsman & a good pacer. His time is over, hence Arthur has very little choice. However, still I think it's more with Inzi than Arthur.

Really dumb, how does it take the slectorsd this long to figure out that he is not a Test bowler, he is an LOI bowler:facepalm: And the fact that Tanvir is in the squad is rubbing salt on the wound...

Agreed. Sherr would have been handy had he been picked earlier, but he is old, unfit and useless now.

Sohail is perfectly fit for T20s/ ODIs, and also an excellent T20 bowler.

He passed the fitness test too - only Umar Akmal didn't. Mickey's hate for him coming in the way, sadly!

Should have been picked for Odis. A good option to have with the new ball especially with the champions trophy in England.

If he was dropped on the basis of fitness, then I won't argue.

If not, it's a harsh decision since he's the best new ball bowler in the country.

How Mic was furious at him in open public I knew Sohail is gone he is not going to be selected again

Tanvir for Khan is a terrible choice especially after being the best bowler in PSL.

Tanvir has done well in CPL. Could that be a factor?

So based on 8 matches can we decide our best bowler is sohail khan? And one more thing is that he can concede runs anyday. 3rdly we dont need to inject "performers" only. There is an year in t20 world cup and we need to plan that whether we need him or not. We need best potential t20 bowlers.

His ODI selection can be debatable because we need to go with our best players but fahim ashraf in our one of the 5 seamer and his bowling stats in domestic are pretty good and he can bat too. But he have bad domestic stats in list a of batting. As i have not seen him so i cant pass any judgement. I can only support my selection committee captain and coach.

Sohail Khan passed the fitness test. He was dropped to give 'younger' guys a chance.

Bizarre logic.

So Tanvir fits your criteria more than Khan?

I dont rate him very highly but he is one of the best in Pakistan and that is the reality.

Intelligent bowler who can move the ball both ways. Will be handful in England (Champions Trophy) if conditions favor fast bowlers. Should have been selected.

Reminds me of the following statement:

"Hummein ball ki samajh hai magar hum kisi ko samajh nahi aah rahe hain" :sk

Sohail Khan should at least have been in the t20 squad. Say what you want about his fitness but the lad can bowl 4 overs. What a load of bs. It's also weird Hassan Khan isnt there but Asghar is.

Incredible decision. Out of a posse of Pakistani pace bowlers who failed to make much impression in the PSL, he was one of the few who did well. For those who are saying there is so much young 'taalunt' waiting to get their chance, save it. The newcomers who played in the PSL like Irfan Jr and Shinwari looked second rate at that level.

May be Inzi does not like players who look unfit even if they pass fitness test? Sohail Khan does look unfit.

Is there a possibility that Mickey has a say in his non-selection ?

Going by Inzi's trend he gives great value to performances in televised tournaments and recent stats. Hard to think of a reason why he didn't pick him.

Very bizarre. One rule for Sohail and another for the others. Nice 'younger' guys in Sohail Tanvir and Kamran Akmal.

Mickey has burst out at Khan many times.

From Australia tour to the PSL. He doesn't like him for some reason.
