Picking Rahat over Wahab for this tour was a weird decision. Wahab is an atrocious LOI bowler, but effective in Tests since he provides a bit of pace. This attack is monotonous in terms of speed, and Rahat has the worst pitch map of all bowlers in this match.
 
Rahat is a left arm version of malcolm sami so might end up with career figures like his idol
 
Have a look a pitch map of rahats bowling to both right hand and left handers in this inns. Theres to many deliveries either side of wicket, to many different lengths. Am sorry u canr just run up and bowl and hope for best in test cricket.
 
As I mentioned in the other thread, if a bowler cannot land the ball in the same place for 2 delliveries in a row there is a problem.

Yes you may have the abiity to bowl an occasional good delivery but more often than not you will fail.

A typical Rahat over sees 1 acceptable delivery, a couple down the leg side, a couple wide of off stump and one four ball. That is not international standard.
 
But but, he can swing the ball...

Atrocious bowler. Horrible body language to boot.
 
Really poor bowling, no control and just doesn't look like he puts any effort.

Seeing how successful Abbas was, Sadaf or Hamza should take a flight to England.
 
Automatically lol. Nice trick when you dont want to share. I think his wrist position is good plus perky run up, easy on the body, which helps him repeat the same over and over
 
Got some lucky wickets early on and then gave iu the match in his last over
 
He was pretty much the worst bowler for Lahore today up until the final over, where he got 3 wickets of tailenders who were slogging all around.

A classic case of a fast bowler with all the ingredients to be successful: swings it both ways, height, decent pace, seam. But the guy has absolutely no brain whatsoever, I can't even explain it. I'm sure no pyschiatrist on this forum can explain it either.

True. He had quite a few natural skills to become a good pacer, just didnt know how to use those to set up a batsman.
 
Another who really should be a far better bowler by now.

Instead he's gone nowhere and he's just gone through the motions.

He had some skill, but utilising it, growing as a bowler just did not happen.

He fell out favor with the selectors with Amirs recall and also Abbass emergence

he fell out of favour because he had 27 wickets in his last 10 tests at an average of 40 - not because of Amir or Abbas

That's funny because Amir had 3 odi wickets in 14-15 games on the Trott. Different rules for different individuals

A left handed version of Sami would be Amir who at one point had only 3 wickets in 15 odis and kept getting played in game after game. All of a sudden Rahats 27 test wickets in his last test games don't look bad in comparison

Personal likes, dislikes, different rules for different individuals has always been a problem in Pakistan Cricket

he always has that talent to swing the ball. he even swung the ball on those dead wickets of UAE.He can still play a role in tests.He is very decent
 
Rahat Ali - He is favorite of both Misbah and Waqar. There is a chance he would return again.
