South Africa all-rounder Farhaan Behardien calls time on his career

He's the worst international batsman, let alone the worst SA one.
 
He can't be a qouta player, because there's other players of colour way better than him. If they really wanted a player of colour, Reeza Hendricks should be there not Berhadien. He's not good enough with the ball nor does he make it with the bat. He even fails the qualification of being called a bits and pieces player.
 
He must be a distant relative of Haroon Lorgat, how does he keeps getting selected despite such poor outings. Marchant de Lange would have been lethal on Aussie pitches and probably would have scored more runs than Farhan.
 
I think he isn't the worst sth African I think he is the worst in the world and honestly I am not exaggerating he is PATHETIC
 
He played a good innings against the Australians some time ago and has put together a couple of other cameos. Should not be a regular starter for South Africa, especially since his bowling is mediocre, but worst South African batsman ever? Don't know about that.
 
The ICC believe that playing AB is unfair so South Africa need to have a handicap
 
Putting bunny to shame. Bunny atleast won us an odi vs BD & drew a test vs eng in eng.
 
The answer to the question is no. Since he is not a batsman, he can't be the worst South African batsman. I don't know what role he was selected for in the team, surely it's not his cricketing ability.

He's certainly the most awful batsman from SA, I have ever seen. His attempts at bowling a few overs are comical too! Ball barely gets to the batsman and still he picked up 3 wickets yesterday. He's the definition of mediocrity but I still believe he will play in the WC and will cost SA a crucial game.

He hasn't done anything at all anywhere in the world, any situation. why he gets selected?
 
Every one know that he is just rubbish but he is playing due to quota system.SA have to play 5 coloured players in the team today it was Amla,phangiso,Rabada,Eddie & Beharden.otherwise he will not be even selected for a UAE team

Do u remember wat happened in the WC Sf.when unfit Felinder was played just because of quota system.read Miss Moonda on cricinfo on this topic
 
South Africa have a history of always having one rubbish player in team. Justin Ontong, Robin Peterson come to mind.
 
Scored an aggressive 70 while the rest of line-up failed, I don't think he is as bad as some here think. Could turn out to be a decent lower order batsman for SA.
 
He's improving slowly. Scores very quickly too and is a really good fielder (and can bowl a handful of overs). SA have done a good job in sticking by him.
 
Behardien seems to be very underrated. Not that bad as many people are making him out to be, but he is not the best either. Decent-ish player who is more of a "A" team material than a national team player

Still I will pick Behardien any day above Miller in ODIs
 
Sir Geoffrey Boycott was really ripping into Behardien on BBC radio today - basically saying he cannot bat or bowl very well so what is the point of him lol.
 
Why do SA persist with Behardein

Absolutely mediocre player. Never seen him play a match winning innings. Lulloo bowler and average fielder. Yet he's played over 40 ODIs for south Africa. Surely they must have better alternatives!

I would say he is a good batsman and he scored 38 which were valuable runs for s.africa. He is slowly slowly becoming a decent batsman
 
Okay even if he's a quota selection there has to be a better non white player. He's as bad as it gets
 
Total garbage of a player. Several quota players are better than him.... and he doesn't even have a beard, don't know how anyone can defend him.
 
Rubbish player. No idea what he has over the selectors, that they can't drop him.

The quota system in s africa is becoming beyond a joke now, how on earth can mediocrity be selected on a regular basis? Apart from rabada the quota system in s Africa is biased towards the coloured cricketers which is a shame and wrong
 
Behardien isn't as poor a batsman as people think he is. He averages 40+ I think, though he has a number of not outs. He's only there because he can bat and bowl though thus adding some semblance of balance to the squad.

He started making some runs some time ago to everyone's shock but is now back to his below average mediocrity.
 
Miller should be brought in team and behardien can be replaced with anyone who can bowl few overs.
 
Calling him the worst player of spin in the world won't be an overstatement.

The original title of the thread was fine: he definitely is the worst South African batsman to play international cricket for a considerable period of time.
 
Never rated him...Don't rate Rossouw too but a good knock from him today..He needs to be consistent.
 
Pretty gutsy innings today to be fair, had a look at his recent scores on Cricinfo, it is the first time he got into double digits in a competitive game in ages.

Looks like will get another two years for today's innings. The torture continues.
 
I remember AB rating him highly a while ago after he scored well against AUS in AUS. Apparently he is the crisis man of the team.
 
I think he'll turned to be a good bat. just for stat, ABD too has ordinary starts in his career and mostly he keeps his place through his fielding first couple of years, like Farhan now!
 
CLUTCH batsmen. Clearly a much better pressure player than some of modern day greats.LOL..

Farhaan Behardien, SA Test captain by 2020 with an average of 50+.

A part of me is actually hoping for it now.

South African version of Saad Nasim, who has been given a very long rope in their ODI team.
 
He is turning out to be quite a handy no 6 batsman for South Africa
