The pitches they produced between 2019-21 were perfect. They had something for seamers, the batsmen were scoring runs and spinners had a role to play too. Maybe it's the fear of losing but these pitches are definitely doing long-term damage to Pakistan's test cricket, even though they are giving short-term results

Right now Pakistan should take what they can get. They are not a particularly good test team, and wins are few and far between. But eventually they will have to ask some honest questions if they really want to progress forward.

Saffers have a good bowling unit but Pakistan is opting for spin tracks so rabada etc might struggle but not that much.. Rabada is a quality bowler... Maharaj is in some good form so it is not going to be an eeasy series.

Whoever bats first will win. These types of pitches remove all concept of skill.

WI tied with Pakistan but England lost. Everyone knows that England would drub WI in virtually any test conditon excluding these doctored pitche conditons.

Bro even bat first is not resulted win you still have to bat well in first innings vs nomam and sajid south africa might be shot down for 100 runs in these spinning pitches can make runs very difficult for me it's all about if pak make 200 runs they will win even 150 in rank turners can be a mountain to climb.

Sajid Khan has a flaw. He isn't as good as you're making him out to be.

He's a great bowler in such conditions but he tends to get smacked after he takes a 5fer as we saw vs england and WI

SQUAD UPDATE

Proteas Men’s fast bowler Kwena Maphaka has been ruled out of the one-off T20 International (T20I) against Namibia and the white-ball tour of Pakistan due to a hamstring strain.

The 19-year-old sustained the injury during the DP World Lions’ opening 4-Day Series match against WSB Western Province at WSB Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town last week.

Subsequent scans and medical assessments revealed a grade 1-2 injury, and he will undergo
rehabilitation over the next four weeks.

Hollywoodbets Dolphins paceman Ottneil Baartman has been named as Maphaka’s replacement for the T20I against Namibia at Namibia Cricket Ground on Saturday, 11 October. He has also been
included in the T20I squad for the three-match series against Pakistan later this month.

Lizaad Williams has been added to the One-Day International (ODI) squad for the Pakistan series.

As per reports:

Gerald Coetzee, South Africa’s promising pace bowler, suffered a pectoral muscle injury during the T20I against Namibia, cutting short his spell after just 1.3 overs. This setback adds to a string of recent fitness issues, including a groin injury that ruled him out of the Champions Trophy earlier this year and sidelined him from Test cricket since November 2023.

Though he returned in July during the Zimbabwe tour and featured for South Africa A against New Zealand A, his inclusion in the T20I and ODI squads for the upcoming Pakistan series now hangs in the balance pending medical assessment.

You have to stop making these childish remarks. It’s very irritating. Sajid and noman are very good by national standards but quite average when compared to genuine good spinners like Ashwin or Lyon or even Ajmal. But even if they are half as good as these three it raises two pertinent points.

1) how good are the other two bowlers aside from Sajid and noman. They will tire eventually then the weak links will be exposed. Lyon has Cummins and starc. Ashwin had bumrah and siraj. We have Hasan Ali and SSA. Say no more (please don’t say HA got wickets 3 years ago)

2) SA have had time to plan for this spin test which England didn’t have. Sa are test champions they win in all conditions. They only need to bat well and we will make their average spinners look like warne and Murali against Pak.

It’s actually more balanced than you think.

England faced Pakistan on a doctored track and Pakistan got lucky by batting first in both tests.

This track isn't doctored, its a standard subcontinent pitch however the side batting first still has a huge advantage.

The issue with Pakistan is that SA has better pacers and batters.

The 3rd and 4th innings will reveal the outcome.

Ok. How is it relevant to what I wrote? The substantive point was that noman and Saj are not good enough to get through this South African team alone. The Pak backups are weak and they as spinners are also inferior to many world class spinners who are blessed with good back ups.

So yes it’s going to be an interesting match for sure. Personally id like to see go well into day 5 get our boys really worked up for a tough test after a long break.

How does pak have weak spinners back up pak right now with india has the best spin attack you have abrar sitting out and you have domestic performer asif afridi waiting for god sake australia england have rubbish spinners pakistan is well ahead of them let's be honest here who else is there beside india with such a spin bowlers?

lol sorry yaar did i upset you? The point was that England may have been playing on spin friendly pitches but if they knew that in advance they would have prepared better so we were lucky against England. That won’t work every time. Why? Because Pak themselves are bad at playing spin.

Even warne and Stuart McGill don’t have great records in India because Indians at that time batted better against spin than Australia.

So it doesn’t matter how good Sajid and noman are eventually they will tire the pacers then are canon fodder.

But too many people are saying South Africa are weak but I am saying it’s going to be very balanced series. (Because Pak are worse than South Africa at playing spin) and the first innings showed that.

Firstly yes I’m saying Pak are worst at playing spin compared to most top nations. Secondly I’m saying just look how a little part timer has run through our lineup when we had the best of conditions. Thirdly I’m saying that generally tests in subcontinent go well into the 4/5th day where it becomes a bit of a lottery so even Rabada can come into play. Saf don’t need their spinner to bowl us over even Rabada will be a handful if the pitch starts misbehaving. The morning session will be crucial. South Africa will just grind it out knowing they just have to make Pak bat on a 4th day pitch. All they have to do is drop anchor.

But it will be a close match.

Absolutely. We do this again and again. Should have hung around eaten up time at least and get them to bat mid afternoon on day 4. Facing noman on day 5 would have been a real challenge. Of course we can still win this but day 4 is easier than day 5 and we made our job so much harder.

Really if Pakistan want to improve as a top test side they really need to understand how to stick around and eat up time to get the pitch really worn down to force a result with spin bowling. We may win but it’s Poor test cricket

The odi captain is not part of the t20 series? Yeah I dont buy that. Ba/riz not being part of t20 makes sense though

Shaheen needs to concentrate on First class/Tests/ODI/tournaments. No need for all T20s. As a matter of fact less ODIs as well.

If the goal is to do workload management, it makes total sense and Shaheen himself should want to sit out. He is finally starting to get his pace back. No need to over work him since they will be playing ODI's right after the T20's and will have SL ODI days after the ones vs SA ends. So it makes to rest and be prepared to give your best for ODI's and make a strong impression as a captain.

The right post just the wrong match. An all spinner strategy just can’t work. Yes the pitch is wearing but not that much. Yes the ball is reversing but not that much. South Africa have had time to prepare which England didn’t have. Now it’s a simple case of which batting line up plays spin better. As fans you want to see teams pushed hard in 5 days of attritional test cricket
 
The South African Men’s selection panel today confirmed Proteas Men’s stand-in T20I captain David Miller and fast bowler Gerald Coetzee have been ruled out of the upcoming white-ball tour of Pakistan.

Miller, who was set to lead the T20I side in the three-match series from 28 October - 01 November, has been sidelined after sustaining a hamstring strain during training in the build-up to the tour. Scans conducted on Wednesday revealed a grade one tear, and he will now begin a rehabilitation program.

Coetzee has been ruled out of both the T20I and three-match One-Day international (ODI) series, scheduled from 04 - 08 November, due to a pectoral muscle injury.

The 24-year-old suffered the injury while bowling during the one-off T20I against Namibia in Windhoek earlier this month. Subsequent scans revealed the extent of the injury and following specialist consultation, he has commenced a structured rehabilitation program under the supervision of the High Performance medical team and Momentum Multiply Titans medical staff.

Batters Matthew Breetzke (Warriors) and uncapped Tony de Zorzi have been added to the T20I squad, while Donovan Ferreira will captain the side.

Hollywoodbets Dolphins paceman Ottneil Baartman has been named as Coetzee’s replacement in the ODI squad.

Pakistan will take on South Africa in a three-match T20I series, with the first T20I set to take place at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, 28 October. The second and third T20Is will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on 31 October and 1 November, respectively.

In all three T20Is, the toss will take place at 7.30pm, with the first ball to be bowled at 8pm local time.

The T20Is will be followed by three ODIs, which will be staged at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on 4, 6 and 8 November. Before the T20I series, both sides featured in the two-match Test series – part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27, which ended 1-1. The hosts won the first Test by 93 runs at the Gaddafi Stadium, while the tourists fought back to win the second Test at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium by eight wickets.

In T20Is, both sides have faced each other 24 times, winning 12 each. In three T20Is played in Pakistan, the hosts have won twice, while South Africa have emerged victorious once. For Pakistan, in the current T20I squad, Babar Azam has scored 447 runs in 13 outings against South Africa, while Shaheen Shah Afridi has grabbed 13 wickets in 12 matches.

Babar, who has featured in 128 T20I matches for Pakistan, requires eight runs to become the leading run-getter in this format in the world.

Salman Ali Agha, while talking to PCB Digital, said:

“I think we have a very interesting and exciting side, with a few comebacks and a few new faces as well. I am very excited to lead this team and we really hope to have a great series.

“We had a great series against Bangladesh at home and I am hopeful for good results in the upcoming series as well. We just want to execute our plans for a longer period. As I always say, we have a great team, a team that can beat any side. Obviously, South Africa are a very good side; they have a few misses, but still possess very good talent.”
 
Still talking about the Bangla series , improve your performance or else go home. Can’t set a target when a platform is set and can’t score a 50 in the entire series with a total of 6-7 matches in familiar conditions still has the audacity to talk as if he won a T20 world cup. India is only top side they played in the last 20 matches and lost all three and the next big one is only now against SA and also to note they struggled their way to win against SRL and BD in Asia cup. No hope for this side.

Pakistan players have 20% skillset and 100% attitude when other teams have 80-90% skillset and 60% attitude used only when needed.
