Asif Ali will play 3rd ODI

According to the forecast i saw it's supposed to rain in the afternoon but it will be mostly cloudy.

KARACHI: Haider Ali likely to replace Asif Ali and Usman Qadir to play in place of Shadab Khan in the third ODI against South Africa, reports claimed on Tuesday.

The replacements will take place following Shadab’s injury and Asif’s poor form in the first two ODIs. Meanwhile, Sarfaraz’s chances to play the series decider are very fewer.

Asif has managed to score just 21 runs in two innings with a highest of 19 and an average of 10.50.

Absolutely. But instead of shafique maybe nawaz should be tried. Shafique isn't suited for no.6

Why 6 , if replace someone at 6 doesn’t really mean the replacement should play at 6.. well this is how the current management think too.

He can bat at 4 more than capable to play. Push rizwan to 6 , he also has hitting skills , let him bat at 6

Rizwan with the form , shouldn’t be getting out like how he got out in the 2nd odi that too batting at no.4.
I see him as a wicket keeper batsman who can bat at 6, he is not sangakkara. Even sangakara batted at 6 early in his career. It took a lot of time and experience for him to bat up the order.

Think Hassan must play but Danish - think he should continue to play because they have to be fair to him.

Shafique in - danish out
Hasan in - Haris out
Usman in - Shadab injured and out

Hasnain pairs as a good new ball bowling pair with shaheen
Hasan and Haris cannot bowl with new ball, they struggle to control even during their initial overs coming in to bowl after 10 overs normally.

Will need to push rizwan to 6. He is not sanagakkara or dhoni to bat at no.4
He can be developed into a better batsman , the way he got out suggests me that he is still a wicket keeper batsman and no.4 is too early to be given to him

Its selection team fault, he should have made debut in Pakistan at home conditions to get experience, but we thrown him in SA in tough conditions not fair, this is not how u develop players.

True but with Misbah in charge we saw Abdullah Shafique debut and play in new Zealand but didn’t get a game in Pakistan

So they will tend to get debut like this and it is easy to get discarded when don’t perform , easy way in for mIsbahs dearest buddies Asif and Ifthikar.

Hmmm I would've replaced Qadir with Nawaz but hey ho might not be a bad shout. I would've also wanted to see Hassan Ali slotted in somewhere but fewer changes the better i say go, Asif is a justified drop.

I think in regards to the failure of Danish it's no surprise and that's not a dig at Danish. If you have an opportunity you must grab it with both hands and if you can't score for the team score for yourself. It's Pakistan management's persisted failure in not arranging A tours to send players on, not having any drop in pitches to prepare for such conditions and not encouraging players joining leagues like English County Cricket. Danish didn't fail Pakistan but it's the poor upper management that has.

Nope you need to play your best side and that isn't Asif Ali in this scenario. You can afford to throw in some debutants and see how they perform, remember South Africa are going to be without 5 of it's main players but we can't be too complacent as well over this matter.

I would still play Danish Aziz but would also be half tempted in seeing either Hassan Ali/Muhammad Nawaz/Abdullah Shafique.

I get your point but still Asif is doing nothing to help and if Haider was unwell or is still unwell then Abdullah is my first choice and he would replace Asif for me tomorrow. Shadab has to be replaced due to injury and for me i would like Nawaz but would be interested in the option of Qadir.

Pakistan has a very poor Middle order. After Top 3 (openers+ Babar) and Rizwan. There is little batting, why we don't have inform Hafiz playing is beyond me. Hafiz should be given an opportunity to play unless someone better comes along, just because he is 40, is being thrown out despite being in form of his life. At least Misbah should know better (he was continuously attacked for his age). Hafiz aside how in the world did Asif Ali keeps getting selected, when this spot should have gone to Haider Ali (who is starting his career & needs as many matches as he can get). Danish Aziz is another example of playing someone too soon.
We almost lost the first match from a very strong position. Because of non existent ability of Asif Ali.

Hasan Ali should play as he is bowler in form, he can also help a little with bat as well .

Makes you wonder, when you drop Imad Wasim to select Nawaz and then don't play him either. Hafeez Should have been selected without him there is a huge hole in our middle order. Hafeez is not part of this Odi Squad but he is there as part of T20 squad.

What is the obsession of playing Hafeez ! He averages 32 after 15 years of playing in one day cricket . The last World Cup in 2019 where he was in the form of his life he also averaged 32. We really need to move on from Hafeez . He’s doing well in the t20s as a short term fix but we need to give other players a run in the one day side .

Hafeez was averaging 22 after 60 one day matches , so we really need to have patience with other players and give them a chance .
