South Africa finish Day 1 at 82/3 after Pakistan posted 211 in the first innings of the first Test match

Thanks to Rizwan and KG Pakistan did not get bowled out for under 100. Let's see if our medium pacers bowlers can now match SA one's.

It’s ridiculous how underprepared we look at every SENA tour the batting today was laughable no one willing to apply they play a few good strokes and then throw away their wicket. Not a single batsman looking to put a prize on his wicket with the odi series already won Aqib knows his job is secure till Champions trophy and they are treating this series as a paid vacation now.

The same people who said KG can’t play pace are now claiming Salman can’t either 🤣

Salman has two fifties in Australia and a 28*, while world-class players couldn’t even manage a single fifty in that series.

When we bowl, which is any minute now, we better be all over these SAF players with hostility. Properly give it back to them.

We don't have high pace but this pitch is doing so much there's no excuse not to take min. 3 wickets before stumps.
Who’s going to sledge them?

Babar
Saim
Rizwan
Shan
Khurram
Abbas

We’ve got more natural softies than we have men with character in this side!

Again with the Saim hate. How long has the lad been around? Give him time. He is growing in confidence and will only now start to become a player aggressive in the field too.

You can’t be a softie and be as aggressive as he is in batting.

You clearly have no idea who I am.

Im the last person to hate Saim here. I’m stating absolute facts. His demeanour is soft. There is no denying this.

How long have we seen him play? He’s been around for a short time frame and been low on confidence for the early part of his career. There is no way you can expect a player to really come into his own and start giving it back to the opposition in the field with that kind of start to his career.

He is now doing well and will not be afraid to give it back to the opposition.

Also, I’m not targeting you individually. But seeing the hate that Saim has gotten on this forum and on social media despite being a prodigy is a shame. And I really question your insight, respectfully, if you think it’s possible to be a young and aggressive batter but also be a softie at the same time. It doesn’t work that way. Saim will give it back to them. Mark my words.

There is no hating someone when you clearly state the truth about them.

The point I’m trying to make is that if you want to give it back to the Saffers, it has to be like a pack of attack dog mentality. They are all over Pakistan as a team, not a couple of mouthy individuals.

Pakistan in the last 10 years or so since Misbah’s influence have hardly ever had that United attack dog mentality against hostile teams.

Rizwan’s inclusion has taken it to another level, bowlers swearing at him and he spreads his arms out like Shah Rukh Khan asking for a hug.

I stick to what I said, you’ve got to be on the same page. All XI have to be a bunch of c’s when you are giving back to the opposition. In this team, the only guy who will do it is Kamran Ghulam as he’s happy to be used.

Spicy Test match

Watch Pakistan just use Kamran Ghulam to sledge SA whilst the rest all hide behind

Whereas all of SA have been taking digs into Pakistan
Think sledging is more of a person-to-person thing rather than a team thing. Not every team uses it as a philosophy like Australia. And even they have mellowed since Sandpapergate.

He actually sledged Starc and asked him why are you bowling slow, you look tired

The entire team is a bunch of softies. We don't have a single tough guy in the team.

Personally, this is one of the reasons why my interest in Pak cricket has gone down in the last decade or so.

This "nice guys" culture is just not for me. I have grown up watching Pakistani players who were tough. Who didn't take BS from anyone.

These small framed, smiley, innocent looking boys aren't exciting to watch.

It’s person to person most of the time but there are clear times when the entire team feels aggrieved the way a few of their players are being abused or given nasty send offs. That’s when you all unite as one to give it right back.

Pakistan lack that fire.

Can you show me the clip of what tone he used to say whatever he did to Starc? Not like some teenager fanboy bantering or was it like Langer in his peed off tone?

Sledging is done on a 1 to 1 level, yeah. But it is totally driven by team mentality. Remember Taufiq Umar in 2007 WC giving Tendukal a send off?

Even the most aggressive guy would mellow down once he part of this team. It is just the culture that this team operates under.

Pakistan was lucky to score an extra 50 runs with so many edges and dropped catches. Tbh, Paterson and Bosch bowled just okay, not great, but the Pakistani batsmen gave away their wickets by playing T20 style shots without any patience.

Most boredom I have ever faced watching Pakistan bat. khurram & abbass must be the most boring batting pair ever.

SA bowlers don’t know how to bowl straight! Even i was feeling frustrated

This is actually true I think. I’m surprised I didn’t remember this but this did happen. Could have been Jaiswal tho

Rizwan and babar have been very exciting to watch 🤣

We lucky we have a last pair who can put 20 runs on the board

Allowing Dane Paterson to get a fiver is embarrassing I know the pitch suits his style of bowling but he's an absolute trundler!

I've watched him past couple of years for Notts and he's not impressive😂

Only good sign if Paterson can do it so can Abbas

He said to Starc: “your bowling slow bro”

He didn’t say it in an insulting manner. Starc is no longer the savage he used to be anyways. He’s usually bantering with young, upcoming Test players playfully

Decent effort from Pakistan to put 200+ on board on a difficult pitch.

Pakistan has the bowling to bundle out this SA team for under 200. Shaheen will be a big miss from this bowling unit. Abbas is a trundler and a downgrade over Shaheen.

This will be a short Test I feel and it will be close.

Last time Pakistan played on this ground they made 181 batting first, so this score is not unexpected. India made 245 here last year batting first.

We need to win this tests or else it's going to be embarrassing after winning the odi series
2 different formats. Nothing embarrassing.

SA is an average T20 and ODI team now. Their bowling is unreliable and lacks discipline for shorter formats. However, in Tests, their bowling is still good.

there are few bowlers and teams you would want to watch bowl.
SA being front runners in that regard. whole bowling attack is just pure entertainment. love their bowling.
india with bumrah and shami playing together
nz with sears and jamieson and rourke altogether operating as a team
and lastly lanka's lahiru kumara

something about pace bounce and accuracy that is just captivating.

they are very good in t20 with full team. and also tests.
odi they have gone down a bit.

How Many runs bobsy the King and next generation talent has scored?

:kp
Ayub can find it difficult in Tests on spicy pitches. He has a lot of shots in his armor. However, those shots cannot be played in Tests. Its high risk and chances of failure are a lot higher.

Beating SA at the highest level is a different feeling altogether

I hate how no batsman wants to put his hand up on these SENA tours. Prepare, tough it out there. Have a plan. Try and do something. We have seen some special innings in tough conditions but none from the pak bags unfortunately.

They were at full stength against Pakistan. Their batting woeful except for Klassen and Miller. Markram is unreliable. The rest are below average.
SA bowling is not disciplined. Too many wides and hit me deliveries.

My apologies if your not part of that group

But rizwan under performed should have hot a few more with KG
Of course as have all Pakistan batsmen, but they were playing to the strategy given by management to counter attack as much as possible, but this pitch needed someone to dig in on one side.
