South Africa finish Day 1 at 82/3 after Pakistan posted 211 in the first innings of the first Test match

Masood played a couple of good innings on the last tour back in 2018/19. Interested to see if he can put up any innings of substance this time. His position in the side, just like his captaincy always seems to be hanging by a thread.

Even when he's batting somehow you feel he could be out at any moment

Somehow they survived Rabada's opening spell. I want to say that the worst is over but knowing Pakistan I fully expect them to give plenty of wickets to Corbin Bosch

Saim, needs to reign in the flashy drives.

These are dumb shots SL batsmen played and got out to.

Saim needs to Play low risk shots and earn runs here

Good start by the openers. Please don't throw it away now. Will sun come out later on?

Our openers need to realize this is "test" cricket

Therefore some application and get through this tough period

If I was Paterson’s captain, I would go to him and slap him on his face for bowling half a dozen no balls at 125 kph

Rabada has found an average seam movement of 1.5 degrees and has hit the money length (6-7 m) very often at good pace.

But he's getting significantly more bounce than he usually does from this surface leading to plays and misses. Extra bounce favouring PAK.

Ouff stupid shot by the captain, but good for the debutant and his family.

I like Corbin Bosch. Tall, strapping lad who can bowl with some decent pace and bat fairly well. This is the guy they should be investing in as their main seam-bowling all-rounder.

But he needs a few to land in good areas. Let's see how he settles into this spell.

Not a great FC record

He’s all the above but quite wayward. Will give runs.

And there we go Saim gone also.

Absolutely. It was a rubbish ball but Shan just gets overly aggressive at times tries to biff it, going too hard at it. Really frustrating to watch him
He is without a doubt the most frustrating batter to watch. Even in Australia he played some good innings but his propensity to throw his wicket away can be very annoying.

Agreed. completely needlessly gifting their wickets. They were both playing beautifully and straight then suddenly the bowling changes and they think they can start playing loose. Really annoying
